Hello everyone,

My name is Daniel Davis and I am a twenty year old college dropout because I don't see how getting into student loan debt will create wealth. I did my freshman year of college (August 2016-May 2017) and realized that the traditional route was not for me. I was a Finance major and went to college because I was afraid if I did not go, I would be a failure because I allowed to the script (teachers, professors, and friends) to take over my life. I live in Baltimore, Maryland with a population of 614,664.

After dropping out of college, I did not have friends to talk to so I was lonely and depressed. I started to escape my life by watching hours of YouTube Videos, played Block City Wars (app), PUBG (app), Call of Duty (BO & BO2), porn and stayed in bed. I had money from my work study job and refund checks to live on until I spent half of it on courses I did not need such as Tai's SMMA course, GC Cold Calling, Tai's Accelerator and Real Estate course, and an Instagram course. I did not take action, but I was action faking. After wasting my money (only one course was worth the $997), it was the same shit different day for a year (May 2017 through May 2018). The day that changed my life was May 24,2018 (FTE Moment) because I received an email from Corner Stone Educational Loan Services that told me "payemnts will be due soon" and this got me off the bed to get a job.

Fast forward to today, I work as a Janitor at a Juvenile Detention Center for $13.79 an hour from 5:00pm-10:30pm on Monday to Thursday. After a few weeks of mopping floors and taking out the trash, I want to do more with my life because I know if I don't take action toward my goals, I will be miserable and stuck with my $5,250 student loan debt for decades.

How I discovered The Millionaire Fastlane :
I read his book on Kindle back on 10/2/16 because of Tai Lopez. While the book contain great information, I did not take it seriously until now because I realized there has to be more to life than wake up, go to work, go home and repeat for fifty years. I refuse to let the script take over my life because I know some of my neighbors who are in there 40's-60's that regret their life and their facial expressions shows it.

My FTE Moments:
1. I remember back in April 2017 when I was riding my bike to my work study job ($8.25 an hour sitting at a desk taking calls and running errands for my boss), I stopped and thought to myself "What's the big deal about college if I am going to be doing the same thing over and over again?" This felt similar to my high school experience.

2. June 11, 2018 I was coming home from work and I saw some people I went to school with and decided approach them to catch up on good times but I was ignored and didn't exist to them.

3. I had to scrub the toilets in lock up and there were #2s in it and to make it worse, it would not flush down. I had to use my hands to remove it and this was not a pleasant experience.

4. On June 16, 2018 a powerout occurred from 7:00pm to 11:15pm and I was miserable. I realized if a natural disaster were to happen again, I would not have to money to get food, water, and supplies to survive. Also, I felt like a failure because I would play hours of PUBG to escape my life because it had no meaning. I only had $200 in my bank account and knew this would not last with a family of 6.

5. It sucks living in poverty because you have less choices and freedom.

6. After dropping out of college, I bought courses that I did not need that cost me $5,512.

7. Before I discovered MJ DeMarco, I was a slowlaner. In June 2012, we had a hurricane that left us without power for three days and I had $350 dollars for my family to get food and water. When the power came back on, I realized the importance of saving money so the money I earned I put away under my mattress and would shop at thrift stores to save money (you know the typical stop eating out...blah...blah). Until August 2015, I had my first bank account with PNC and when I deposited my money I stored from my matt to the bank, I saved $1000. It took me three years to save $1000.

Process-Oriented Actions to change my life:
As stated in Unscripted "Sales, Marketing, Advertising, and Copywriting are critical life skills to have" I made an account with Iwriter to do article writing for people and trying to find problems at my job that can be solved. Also, I read the forums about marketing and copywriting books to get such as Tested Advertised Methods, Ogilvy on Advertising, Scientific Advertising, Breakthrough Advertising, Influence, and more to get started.

  • I am attending networking events to meet other business owners, prospecting on Linkedln to find clients and increase my connections.
  • After reading @Real Deal Denver post, I will find a better paying job to pay the bills.
  • I am going to help business owners achieve business growth using social media marketing so I will reach out to people I know and help them for free to get some experience.

I look forward to adding value to the forum and getting to know other fastlaners looking to change their life. Thank you @MJ DeMarco for your two books

I've known a few janitors that went to work for their self and made a couple of dollars at it.... and it don't have to take very long. But, there are other ways also. Just decide which one you want to do and then come Monday.... DO IT! If you put it off until Tuesday, you are just a whiner about being a worker bee. So, come Tuesday let us know which one you turned out to be.

First of all, you work 5 hours a day, four days a week, at $13.79 an hour.

You can't live on that. That's not a terrible wage, as a staring point, but you need to at least double those hours. Preferably all at the same place (full time) so you can get some sort of benefits. That is what you need to focus on right now so you can stabilize. You do have some experience, so you have a starting point to work with. It's a job - it's to pay your bills. Don't worry applying for a sucky job - because it's only a job, not a career. You can't move forward at this point, no matter what plan you may have, because you don't have income to even live on.

After you have food and shelter taken care of, then you can step back and devise a plan of action.

You're 20. You have all the time in the world, so don't stress about being a failure in any way. You're at the starting line in life. Be happy you have some experience so you can get a better job, and be happy you're so young. Focus on what are the GOOD things you have to work with.

As for a plan, we have way too little information to point you in any direction. What are your interests? Where do you live? What is the population of your town/city? Do you have any particular skills, such as you like computers, or you like cars, or you're a people person? Are you a gym fanatic? Equally important are things that you hate, and would never do - janitor being the exception. By the way, speaking of janitor- TOOLS man! You never have to use your hands for a toilet problem! Plunger - tongs - shovel - mop - snake drain cleaner - rubber gloves - wet dry vac! We won't go into that - but be prepared to handle the worst problem of a toilet next time - withOUT using your hands! You can DIE from e-coli bacteria!

Who do you have for support? A family - a girl friend - you live with friends? It's been over a year since you quit college. How have you been surviving?

This is a great place for you to be. There is lots of knowledge here.

The more details you can provide the better advice you can receive.

Welcome!

Reply for paragraph 1: "You can't live on that...not a terrible wage... double those hours."
My current job doesn't have a full time spot available and I had apply for other places such as Best Buy for a sales position, stock by at Aldi, waiter at The Crackpot Seafood Restaurant, and a Mobile Associate at T-Mobile but did not get them. For my bills, the phone is $43 and transportation is $64.80 (I catch the bus). Also, my food consist of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (around $20-$25). I still live at home with my family

Reply for paragraph 2: "we have way too little...the population of your... particular skills."

I live in Baltimore, Maryland with the population of 614,664. I'm interested in selling items online (I sell them on Facebook and made $67 in one month, May), software, and copywriting (I bought books this forum recommended Tested Advertising Methods 4th edition and Reality in Advertising). For software, I want to code an enterprise software that can help people (too broad and not specific I know).

Reply for paragraph 3: "Who do you have for support?"

I only have my barber for support. Most friends I went to school with do not associate with me anymore and I do not have a girlfriend (she left me for another person due to my low status).
Thank you for replying to my message because I did not expect a response this soon.

Welcome to the forum Daniel, I wouldn't be too worried about being a janitor. And I wouldn't be worried about college "friends" who treat you like a pariah ... this is part of the game.

However I would be worried about NOT moving forward as an entrepreneur. This whole game starts in your head and you continually have to work at it.

The SCRIPT wins when you become comfortable in mediocrity.

Hey there, I thought about providing a Janitor Business. Having my own supplies and starting our solo. Then as I acquire more clients, I can hire more janitors and start a website and provide janitors for clients all over the United States.
