Hello everyone,
My name is Daniel Davis and I am a twenty year old college dropout because I don't see how getting into student loan debt will create wealth. I did my freshman year of college (August 2016-May 2017) and realized that the traditional route was not for me. I was a Finance major and went to college because I was afraid if I did not go, I would be a failure because I allowed to the script (teachers, professors, and friends) to take over my life. I live in Baltimore, Maryland with a population of 614,664.
After dropping out of college, I did not have friends to talk to so I was lonely and depressed. I started to escape my life by watching hours of YouTube Videos, played Block City Wars (app), PUBG (app), Call of Duty (BO & BO2), porn and stayed in bed. I had money from my work study job and refund checks to live on until I spent half of it on courses I did not need such as Tai's SMMA course, GC Cold Calling, Tai's Accelerator and Real Estate course, and an Instagram course. I did not take action, but I was action faking. After wasting my money (only one course was worth the $997), it was the same shit different day for a year (May 2017 through May 2018). The day that changed my life was May 24,2018 (FTE Moment) because I received an email from Corner Stone Educational Loan Services that told me "payemnts will be due soon" and this got me off the bed to get a job.
Fast forward to today, I work as a Janitor at a Juvenile Detention Center for $13.79 an hour from 5:00pm-10:30pm on Monday to Thursday. After a few weeks of mopping floors and taking out the trash, I want to do more with my life because I know if I don't take action toward my goals, I will be miserable and stuck with my $5,250 student loan debt for decades.
I read his book on Kindle back on 10/2/16 because of Tai Lopez. While the book contain great information, I did not take it seriously until now because I realized there has to be more to life than wake up, go to work, go home and repeat for fifty years. I refuse to let the script take over my life because I know some of my neighbors who are in there 40's-60's that regret their life and their facial expressions shows it.
1. I remember back in April 2017 when I was riding my bike to my work study job ($8.25 an hour sitting at a desk taking calls and running errands for my boss), I stopped and thought to myself "What's the big deal about college if I am going to be doing the same thing over and over again?" This felt similar to my high school experience.
2. June 11, 2018 I was coming home from work and I saw some people I went to school with and decided approach them to catch up on good times but I was ignored and didn't exist to them.
3. I had to scrub the toilets in lock up and there were #2s in it and to make it worse, it would not flush down. I had to use my hands to remove it and this was not a pleasant experience.
4. On June 16, 2018 a powerout occurred from 7:00pm to 11:15pm and I was miserable. I realized if a natural disaster were to happen again, I would not have to money to get food, water, and supplies to survive. Also, I felt like a failure because I would play hours of PUBG to escape my life because it had no meaning. I only had $200 in my bank account and knew this would not last with a family of 6.
5. It sucks living in poverty because you have less choices and freedom.
6. After dropping out of college, I bought courses that I did not need that cost me $5,512.
7. Before I discovered MJ DeMarco, I was a slowlaner. In June 2012, we had a hurricane that left us without power for three days and I had $350 dollars for my family to get food and water. When the power came back on, I realized the importance of saving money so the money I earned I put away under my mattress and would shop at thrift stores to save money (you know the typical stop eating out...blah...blah). Until August 2015, I had my first bank account with PNC and when I deposited my money I stored from my matt to the bank, I saved $1000. It took me three years to save $1000.
Process-Oriented Actions to change my life:As stated in Unscripted "Sales, Marketing, Advertising, and Copywriting are critical life skills to have" I made an account with Iwriter to do article writing for people and trying to find problems at my job that can be solved. Also, I read the forums about marketing and copywriting books to get such as Tested Advertised Methods, Ogilvy on Advertising, Scientific Advertising, Breakthrough Advertising, Influence, and more to get started.
I look forward to adding value to the forum and getting to know other fastlaners looking to change their life. Thank you @MJ DeMarco for your two books
