Agreed, usually stuff I see from internet marketing forums (digitalpoint, bhw, warriors) all look the same. The generic landing page with all these keywords listed above. Once I see that I just exit out and make the assumption that the product seller is out for a quick sale.

I just don't get what was SO amazing about that list of words, they all seemed like pretty generic marketing terms that get overused way to often.

I am just curious as to why the OP posted this, what did he feel we had to gain from this post?

I guess I learned a key marketing strategy if you have a short amount of information that would look to small by itself or in a single paragraph, put your main text in small chunks and in-between the segments add lots and lots of bullet points, people will skip right over the bullets and read your text all while making your copy seem longer and more "legit"

The people that might not understand the impact these keywords make, are the people that REALLY should look at that list again, instead of brushing it of as a "waste of time" xD.

Because these are the people that buy WSO ebooks, methods, tools, again and again but never take a wider look at what's really going on.

I think in the fastlane the author refers to them as "consumers".... maybe try looking at that text from the point of view of a "producer"!

I know what you meant. I still think it's better to just avoid it. Even if you go there to look at the marketer, there are better examples to observe. If you're going there with some specific technical question, there are better places to get it answered.

I can't think of a single use for the warrior forum where you wouldn't be better served looking elsewhere. It's just a trash forum, and the signal/noise ratio is far too out of whack to be worth the time.

Money-chasing is a disease, and as far as I'm concerned, warrior forum is the quarantine zone.

That's a unique market. I think most in TFLF are not targeting such a market. If you are interested in marketing your product, it's best to understand your market's demographic and market specifically to them rather than drawing upon techniques successful for a different market segment.

This is what I've learned personally from writing for a niche market: The "standard" techniques are often inferior to what you create yourself based on what you know about your market. Sometimes breaking the marketing/copywriting rules brings up your conversions.

Context is everything. This type of list is easy to snicker at and have fun with, in this forum context. But when these statements are encountered in "the dark night of the soul", when you're frustrated in some way, then we can admit that we've all probably had the experience of being guided by some mysterious power which draws our attention down a long sales-letter type website, through all the yellow-highlighted passages, the gushing testimonials and photos from the usual suspects, until eventually we get to that Add to Cart button that represents relief, ecstasy and satisfaction.

It makes sense that "we" don't respond to this list, because in the context it's presented, we don't have a need for anything at the moment --- but if we did, that'd make all the difference. It's like if someone just had sex, and then were shown a silly NSFW photo, they'd laugh at it, or be disgusted by it. But if they were alone, and hadn't had some sort of release or satisfaction in a while... well there might be a different response. These trigger keywords build up tension until we are primed to "explode", but they require some initial context of frustration, or else they just seem silly.

So I don't know if it has to do with Sidewalkers being particularly vulnerable to this sort of thing. That'd assume that humans in certain markets are too "professional" or B2B-oriented to be manipulated emotionally by promise of pleasure/fear of loss, or that they'd be any less prone to taking cognitive short-cuts. I don't know if that's a safe assumption to make without testing, might be true though. I bet it's more likely that people in such professional markets just require more stuff like Gartner charts to rationalize a decision they've already made, since needs, desires and frustrations are vulgar icky things that should be covered up in polite company, like Victorians in ye olden times.
