I think it's a mistake to think of them as social *media* platforms. They're just platforms where you can connect, follow, message, build relationships, etc.I know you're heavily involved with social media so you'll have this different perspective. For me personally, I just refuse to touch it for any reason. I want a business but I don't want to ruin my life by having to be on social media and contributing to that trash.
I dislike the content creation game and hamster wheel. I refuse to play it, yet I get business from LinkedIn, Facebook, and even this forum. How? People see me engaging, know what I do, and reach out. I also connect with people I think I can help. I just see these platforms as watering holes.
Say you're chatting to a friend who's a plumber and he can't figure out how to create a Google Business Profile because he prefers using spanners to computers. You can whizz through the steps and deal with problems and do what he can't.How can I help them if I have zero idea how to run a business with employees or how to run any "real" business for that matter?
Same way I'd pay a plumber to swap my radiators. I pay him because he can do something for me that I can't or don't want to.
Like most things, you do whatever it takes to get your first client or two, even free clients. Then you do a good job for them. Then they start referring people to you. You do a good job for them, then the flywheel starts turning faster and faster.@Andy Black, that above question is for you as well as I think that's my main struggle with transitioning into proper "boring" B2B. How do you work with these "one man with a van" businesses? How do they find you? How do you know how to help them if you've never run a business like that?
I would absolutely love to pick one specific industry, offer one specific service, and just keep offering the same thing and producing that super narrow specialized content just for this one specific audience.
Emergency and/or unsexy services, especially local services since you're up against poor local competitors and you can scale by getting clients in different cities. What do you think are the best offers or industries for Google Ads that would "make a sale tomorrow and scale easily"?
I did a workshop describing how I got started and how I'm (very slowly) scaling. It applies to more than just providing Google Ads as a service.
It answers a lot of the questions you have.
MARKETING SIDE HUSTLE Thread '[Workshop Replay] Selling Google Ads as a Service'
Here's a presentation about how I started and am building a business that provides Google Ads as a service to other businesses.
I did it for @Fox 's paid web design group last year and he's kindly allowed me to share it.
It should also help people starting other businesses.
Let me know what your main takeaways are.

Also, with your video and writing skills I suspect you'd be able to create videos, put ad spend behind them, and get clients better than I've been doing so.
This video got David quite a few clients even with "low" views.
David does a great breakdown of the simple Google Ads strategy I've been talking about since 2009:
Put what people search for in the ad and the landing page.
Even better, his 6 minute YouTube video has just shy of 400 views and already brought him 10 clients.
Well done David, on the results for your client, the breakdown, and showing that success on YouTube isn't about the vanity metrics of subscribers and views.
Business is simple. It gets complicated because we don't keep it simple.
If you watch David's video then please reply with your takeaways and what action you'll take...
