I’m 22 years old. I went to uni to become an accountant, worked for a little over 12 months and quit because I refuse to waste my 20s (and life) working at a desk for someone else when I could be building my own business.
Right now, I’m doing the jobs myself. I plan on getting employees as soon as I'm bringing in enough work for a full schedule, so I can get out of the work ASAP to be working on the business not in it.
I already have a decent website, automations in place, Facebook ads bringing in leads, and printed flyers going out this week. My offer is premium and positioned to stand out. I intend to take over the local market with better branding, advertising, and service at a reasonable price.
So far I've mainly completed window washing & gutter cleaning jobs, but with winter ending and spring only a month away, I'm pushing hard on my other services; pressure washing, and moss treatment (roof and paths, driveways etc).
Today I went door knocking for the first time, my local area isn’t huge, so I drove an hour away to practice without burning local doors.
Got my first sale within 20 doors (10 weren’t home) then the weather turned really sh*tty, so I am door knocking again for a few hours tomorrow before I complete the job I booked in.
I also closed a $750 moss roof treatment tonight, which will be the first of many, as moss is a real problem here. I expect my moss service will be very popular and I will be pushing it hard as it is extremely profitable.
I’ve calculated that if I pay $35/hour including pension expenses, I will aim for $500/day revenue per employee. (which will give me $230ish profit per day per person).
Lots of people thought I was silly not keeping my job and using my saved money to buy a house with a huge mortgage, but I don’t want to be like any of them so their advice is worthless to me, I only want to take advice from those in front of me or have done what I am now doing, not those still in jobs they hate but are too scared to quit.
Cheers @Johnny boy for your posts. Your posts on systems, hiring, and mindset have helped me to take action and build, not just talk, I reckon we'd get on well.
I don’t purchase equipment until it's been needed, and so far all customers have been very happy with my service.
This year's ambitious goal is 200k revenue (Aus Financial Year is July 1 - 30 June, and I intend to spend winters somewhere warm (winters here suck), such as in the US, Europe or even Thailand.
I also bet on horses professionally at 5% POT, but I'm willing to put that aside until I get my business running, as I see more potential in this, and separating the income from my time, not get sucked into running it like a job.
My initial targets:

My initial targets:
- $1,000/day in profit by December 31
- Get consistent recurring clients (Through Window Washing Contracts, commercial & residential)
- Hire my first employee
- Scale into larger cities such as Melbourne once i’ve nailed my systems, as the biggest city near me has 35kish people.
