Not taking that question at all in the wrong way, that is probably one of the nicest ways someone has tried to "critique" me in my life.

An opportunity to apply my business knowledge.

I went and counted how many pitches I've made on IG alone, 70+ in the past 1.5 months, all gone basically nowhere.

I hear the same shit, there are very very high level individuals who have explicitly said "we HAVE to meet, face to face" and then it fizzles out, I'll keep trying, but it is what it is. I had one guy who is very VERY important in his industry offer to fly me out to his country to help him with a variety of things, ofc I say yes as I am open as F*ck.

It goes from "yeah I'll pay for everything" to "you buy the ticket" to me saying "I'm having this issue, how do we proceed?" (with the full intention of proceeding) and he ignores me.

I'll give you another example of the shit that happens to me, I met this ex pat here who has been here for 20 years, he was into book summaries from 20 years ago (Soundview), I tell him about the 1.5k books I consumed throuh that format, we hit it off and he gives me his business card as he owns a few in the country. I message him and he ignores me, maybe he'll stop going to Starbucks cuz of me lmao, well that's kinda epic....ruining Starbucks for someone haha!

It is what it is, I personally have grown to love failure and people spitting on me, yeah people will tell me it's a "negative mindset" to think about the world like that (you're here to be spit on), but you do the work I do, deal with the abject failure I have, not just the failure but the euphoria from seemingly catching your break and then it completely fizzling out WEEKLY and at times DAILY (I remember this one day when I had 50 people NOT return my messages (yes I actually counted), felt like the loneliest day in the world tbh fam) and then tell me how you keep going.

Bottom line:
I have my poker and I am best in the world/20,000 or at worst top 3/20,000 so I will continue to crush that where I am basically guaranteed to have long term success, here is a finish that could've basically changed my life with a DASH better luck from last month
View attachment 25411
24/4800 so final .5% where there is basically no difference but a bit of luck between me and the best there.

People don't want one of the most motivated 135 IQ people who has accomplished a ton in his life, has a heart of gold and will help ANYONE, and overcome a lot already, in their lives cuz I'm eccentric and arrogant? Cool, they'll make great footnotes and lessons in my autobiography WHEN I do make it, not a problem.

This is my mindset now:
http://instagr.am/p/BymLqIyDEDB/ View: https://www.instagram.com/p/BymLqIyDEDB/

NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY MY POKER and in the long run I am GUARANTEED riches (relative to the lifestyle I'm after AND where I live, Bulgaria) with it

http://instagr.am/p/BzGQLrwjKHo/ View: https://www.instagram.com/p/BzGQLrwjKHo/

http://instagr.am/p/BzI9_8oDH5M/ View: https://www.instagram.com/p/BzI9_8oDH5M/

I'll KEEP getting better everyday, I'll study more, I'll train harder, I'm not gonna give up

I ONLY need ONE break then I'm gonna seize that shit, whoever wants to give it to me, I'll 1000X return them on my F*cking life and everything I got, I am an extremely spiteful person and I will wait a lifetime to return people F*cking with me, BUT on the opposite extreme, if you help me I will NEVER forget it and if I can return it in ANY way I will KILL MYSELF (not literally lma0) trying to return the favor

Example of how I return favors, whenever I get good customer service, I always go back the next day and spend $10-15 at a local bakery with some small sweets to thank the people. Some lady gave me a measuring tape when I asked where I could buy one, so I spent $10 on sweets on her the next day, I've done this with a jewellery shop, clothing shop and gym I used to frequent as the people there always helped me.

You blaze with energy. High anxiety too, later in the long introduction.
I think you sense the problem, which could just be off the charts excess norepinephrine. This kind of neurotransmitter imbalance causes one to be overly sensitive, obsessed with details, and easy to displease or offend. Eat brown rice and maybe notice changes in 1-2 days. Stiffness in neck and back is sometimes caused by high iron levels and nothing else, the side effect of eating too much fresh greens. Again, rice and lentils contain lytic acid which will lower iron levels and dissolve the stiffness and pain.
My first read of you was enthusiasm and a body jammed full of pain-induced stress.
Moving on.
Your introduction pulled me in. It became clear that potential and knowledge are bigger focal areas for you than action is. That is the central mistake.
I see decision errors, such as playing chicken with a business prospect over a plane ticket, caused by this attitude.
Second, the scores you report are again focused on ability but not on action.
IQ score has zilch to do with developing the brain's neural network governing executive function. Executive function is the basis for making everyday decisions and having decision-making insight, as well as working out extensive decision trees.
Very successful, creative, powerful people score 112 IQ, but they can also dance circles around someone with 160 or 165 without the aptitude to make the right decision, or, sometimes, make any decision, because whatever their IQ is, the "no need for high IQ" minds not only know the codes to survival, they write them. It is a different kind of aptitude than what IQ measures. Those with the really soaring IQs sometimes fall short in the decision making department because high IQ individuals can be functional illiterates. Successful people without high IQ will blaze with an intelligence that is not viewed as valuable in the traditional educational system. It's still genius. I encourage you to study people you encounter so that you can develop this range of aptitude.
The prison population in the US is teeming with 135 IQs.
It would be more realistic to make the point that focus and diligence can make "anyone" a top champion at games of mental skill such as poker and chess, instead of insisting that you have 1 in a billion potential.

You are looking for like-kind here, and understandably so. You'll find this, once you have removed the coat hanger from the shirt you've got on and start poring through the topics here and learn the mindsets of m/billionaires and others who want to enjoy as many moments of their lives as they can. This will be a journey, not an event.
I would like to follow your progress from being someone surrounded by barriers to entry into any kind of work to a pretty relaxed, formerly fat cat millionaire.

Good luck as you go.

I want to apologize, I was wrong and you guys were right.

I made this mind map a while ago:

Speed of Implementation: When I get a good idea I implement it, that simple. I will act now yada yada yada, most people’s issue is that they’re not using the highest value action first formula and then the good ideas they do have, if they even do implement them, the moment or train can have left, thus they end up in a very weird spot where they second guess themselves based on their idea, but it wasn’t the idea, more so the execution of the idea in that they allocated resources to other areas of lower need and may have entirely foregone a much better opportunity or let the opportunity sit for too long.

Luckily opportunities are like buses and in a world of lightspeed change, change being the precursor for opportunity, well there is always another one coming.

There is no excuse for what took place on here and I will do the following:
1.Admit I was wrong, I was wrong and admit you guys were right, you guys were right
2.Minimize harm by removing my posts and making my instagram private
3.Asking for this thread to be delete (this is a request mods)

And thank you guys for the feedback which I will now implement.

I've also realized that I can still contribute positively in other threads where people enjoyed my posts much more, so I will focus on what I'm good at and leave what I am bad at behind.

Again, my apologies for this thread, I was wrong and you guys were right, I hope I didn't make this website too unbearable with my posts and I wish all of you the best. Thank you for those who gave me real, honest feedback and pushed me to improve myself. This is a positive thing and it forces me to grow, God bless yall.

Cya around in other better threads ;)

Can't close out last few weeks, oh well I'll take the profit, it is what it is. My mindset isn't as tanked as it has been before during similar stretches, I know wins will come

View attachment 25502

Really loving the horrendous opinion given above being liked, gives me so much motivation. Imagine going into someone's log who is 1/20,000 in a skill level that earns them a ton of money relative to their country and telling them they need to figure out what to do, they are crazy, they are on drugs and they are on steroids because they like to post about business, motivation and self improvement on a forum built for these. It's ok, I truly appreciate it:

1.For motivation
2.For how funny this is going to be when I make it

Funniest thing of all:

I'm not 1 in a billion? Ok

Instagram now has 1bn monthly active users.

Find me anyone who is 1/20,000 or around there in a field
Find me someone who posts as much business related subject matter that is actually interesting and quality
They must also workout and post as much as I do daily
AND they must have had a dormant instagram (I didn't even use IG until two months ago for 5 years)

Go ahead, you guys liked his post, go BTFO me. Waiting on it, oh wait people are even liking a post making wild claims about drug use with ZERO proof in MY thread where I impose myself on NO one and ask for ZERO advice.

Anyways, let's keep it quality and not allow lowest common denominators and democracy to ruin everything as they always do

Bro, I think it will be an amazing win when you discover the problem going on.

This forum contains a generous bunch of people, but how would you know that when you don't bother to start reading the insights and advice in the threads? Instead you deliberately misread and then overeact to comments.
You need soft skills. That means practicing those abi!ities, as they are obviously very, very weak. Instead you are hiding in that swampland of mostly - mostly - uninteresting flotsam which no one needs to read, not one iota.

Why is that?

You should read the threads before you post any more swampage so that you will see that most readers here are:

1. way ahead of you, lightyears more knowing than you are
2. newbies who can tell an expert from a wantrepreneur
3. people who value "efficacy."
Your posts offer little to no return for the time invested to clamber down twenty inches of ho-hum and chaos.

Againstallodds is a heart-centered wiseman. He absolutely said nothing to offend. You grabbed at the chance to be victimized. He did not make "wild accusations." And if his idea was correct, so what? Be grateful for the information.

Don't be scandalized by tips on mood disorders or addiction.

Bulgaria is a really harsh country for a self-isolating ex-pat. You are super vigilant at work and play (hence norepinephrine flood).

Can you go walk in a forest?

Also, I think you should protect your course outline at this stage of the game. You should edit that comment and cut it.

Those haphazard, swamplandian comments also make you come across as someone who does not know the first thing about teaching, let alone course development. This is another reason to start whittling, STAT.

You're living too much in your head right now. Take a step back and find a way to put things back into perspective.

This forum doesn't matter.
Instagram doesn't matter.
The internet doesn't matter.

What matters most is you. Your goals and whether or not you're achieving them. Your personal happiness.

You're in a relatively new country as an expat, and that can be hard. It can be lonely sometimes (or a lot of times), so what's said on the internet starts to matter more than it does. And day by day it starts to matter more bit by bit. That like on instagram, that message from some random person, that a**hole comment by @AgainstAllOdds.

It messes with your head... and I know it does because I've been there. I've traveled to weird places alone, didn't know many people, and interacted mostly through apps and the internet. It messes with your head and changes your perspective from what actually matters.

You're spending a lot of your time playing poker online. I'm guessing at home. Alone. That takes a lot of mental focus and fatigue.

Coupling that with caffeine abuse, consistent caloric deficits, an environment where you have not yet had time to set roots ... all of that together sets your priorities in the wrong place. You spend a lot of time by yourself on your own pursuits, and in the process lose your perspective of who you are amongst other people.

Reading your posts, seeing your instagram, seeing how you interact with people ... I don't think that your problem is anything mentioned before ... I just think you're lonely. And I don't mean that as an insult, don't take it that way. I just think that you're putting too much weight on everything that doesn't matter and losing focus on what does. The long-run.

If I was you, I'd take a break to get my mind right.

Find someone or a group that you can interact with on a consistent basis.

You like working out. Maybe you can join a sports league, or take group workout classes. Go to a rock climbing gym and find a partner. Go to an MMA gym and make friends there.

You need to create some sort of social consistency that you can turn to. Maybe even something that sounds dumb like playing online poker in a co-working space so that you can become part of a community. Or switch to casinos if it makes sense. You need more interaction with people in person for your own mental health.

The same way you're taking care of your body - take care of your brain. You're pumping it right now with little sleep, high caffeine, low calories, intense attention when playing poker ... You're F*cking it up.

Take a step back. Get your mind right.

Start with the social circle. But don't take your deathpace approach. I'll save you several years of experience... no one cares about the books you're reading beyond 4 sentences. No one cares how highly you think of yourself. They just care about themselves and what they're out there doing. Connect with them on their level and what they're interested in.

And if that doesn't work, then grow some balls and find a professional that you can talk to. You had problems with depression before. There's a good chance you will again. Find someone so that if it ever hits again, you don't have to go through it alone.

I'm pulling for you man. I hope you make it. But I'm also scared for you. You remind me of a few friends that fell off the rails.

You have incredible potential, but you need to start by getting your mind right. Your body, bank account, one in a billion goals, those will all fit perfectly together if your mind is in the right place.

Best of luck, OP.

If you need to talk to someone, I urge you to do as @AgainstAllOdds has recommended above and find a professional. Someone in-person preferably (as that could be exactly what you're missing).

However, if you need to, don't hesitate to reach out here on the forum.

As you've seen, other people have been in similar situations to you before and overcome them. Sometimes you need the perspective of someone who's "been there, done that" to get past whatever obstacle you're facing.

You seem like a smart guy. Lots of potential, some interesting perspectives, plenty of knowledge to share.... so stick around. Contribute to the forum, read the Gold Threads, talk about your challenges honestly & openly.

No one here will think any less of you if you're not "one in a billion".

By definition, pretty much no one is. And that's fine. You can still have a great life and achieve all that you want to without being the best in the world at all you do.

Self-improvement is great, but don't allow it to consume you and drive you to a place of perpetual unhappiness - the kind that manifests in flexing and stunting on Internet people.

I hope you find your path... and I look forward to seeing more from you here on the forum.

Best of luck!

Man you don't need to make such a drastic reactions.
I am being harsh because I've seen soooooo many people quit poker or end up badly when they were saying stuff like I am the best etc.
I personally know 3 ppl from torunaments who had one good year like 200k usd, few years without results and they quit. They couldn't handle dealing with variance when they've build their whole self imidge on positive variance and when downswing came they were crushed twice as hard.
Even if you are a guy who handle losing well and rise to the challenge, when you can't deal with winning you are doomed at poker.
Anyway if you earn even like 5-10k usd and are from semipoor Europe country (like I do) you won in life.
Cheers

All due respect, the common understanding among therapists and counselors is to try friendship first.

If that doesn't do the trick, then look into therapy.

How to decide on friendships:
1. Identify your friendship criteria. List all qualities yosu want in a real friend.
Everything: Empathy. Engagement. Go for 100 characteristics.
List all qualities you don't want an actual, real-life friend to have. Dishonesty? Tolerates deceit? Likes to play head games? Does not feed the mind, ever, ever?
2. Review current friends, almost friends, pseudo friends. Out go the losers.
3. You now have a search image for a good friend and you're primed to recognize them.

How to drop loneliness:
Human mammals stress out in isolation. Sometimes the stress feels good, but the brain ultimately needs social interactions. You don't need anything demanding, just a little transaction like buying a coffee is enough. You need moments where you look someone in the eye, listen for the underlying mood in their conversation, read a look on someone's face. Ask simply how their day is going. Expect little.

If that works well and your stress can subside, you'll go further than you would with a therapist.

Try the real thing first, the right friendships for you.

If that fails, only then, you should try therapy.

As someone who has played semi-professional poker for two decades, I can attest that there are a LOT of people who fit this bill. Variance in tournament poker is horrendously high, and by some estimations, it can take many years of full-time play to get a statistically significant sample to determine if you're a winning tournament player.

I'm mostly a cash-game player, so tournament variance doesn't matter much to me, but I did the serious tournament thing for three years (live play, not online). First year won about $300K in live events... Next two years, won barely anything. I stopped playing tournaments (other than just for fun) after that. Given that I've made money in high-stakes cash games for 20 years, I think it's reasonable to assume that I would be +EV in tournaments long-term (not guaranteed, but reasonable assumption), but playing live events could take more than my lifetime to "get into the long-run."

From a statistical standpoint, I generally tell online players to win for 3 years straight before they even start to think they are +EV. And oftentimes, games can change so much in 3 years that a player could go from +EV to -EV in that time, just due to game/player fluctuations.
As for semi profesional you have very good insight ;) You did smart thing, there are guys who think they are good and they start playing higher stackes to "catch up" with variance and they go busto and then some (lending money, selling phones to have money to play, etc.)

With statements like these, your thread (and your account here) was going off the rails and in jeopardy. Great to see you take a breather and come to some sense.

I would like to apologize for my craziness and narcissism again.

I believe that the individuals here are actually hitting the nail on the head, it sucks to admit it, but I now realize the harm I have done.

I would like to take FULL RESPONSIBILITY and request a permanent ban, I will still lurk and take in the wonderful information that is posted here, but I do not wish to do any more harm than I have already done with the statements that I made above and I realize I STILL have the capacity do just that (hell that was a few days ago lulz), so again I want a permanent ban and yes this is a final decision.

Thank you guys for helping me, I wish you all the best and I apologize to MJ for letting him down with my comments, I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY and admit it was ALL me and my narcissism, craziness and other issues that caused this.

See you guys later.

Calm down brother. There’s no reason to be this hard on yourself. We all make mistakes and learn.

There’s a fine line between taking accountability and beating yourself up

I'm honestly totally calm, but even after typing this, I realize....look I still have that disagreeableness within (I can't take your telling me to calm down).

What I need to do is be left with no option but to look internally, so I'd rather err on the side of extreme responsibility and take what I dished out (my craziness, narcissism and other aspects I learned about in this thread), for example I think some of the content I posted stands up on it's own, but I was told that there is no chance I would be worked with regardless due to my other problems or fatal flaws you can call them.

This is a massive issue, it means all the work I've done in acquiring knowledge is worthless, there is a reason the posts calling out my personality were so liked (they're spot on), I just need to work on myself and accept responsibility, the best way to ensure my odds of that happening is for a perm ban.

Again, I want to apologize and man up, enough "oh I'm just a quirky snowflake." Nope, the reality is that I come off as crazy, narcissistic, insane human being and this needs to change.

If you read that sentence again, do you see that in having the mods put a permanent ban on you it would actually not be taking the responsibility on yourself?

I visited this thread before your posts were apologies. Why throw away the opportunity to be here and help others? It may also fulfill the wants and needs you now have. Win-Win!

I waste too much time posting on here, a ban would at least curtail the posting.

That was my intention with this thread, nothing else even crossed my mind but to give value, however there are obviously deep psychological problems that others saw that prevented me from doing that, so unless I fix them, I will be that guy being told by everyone they don't want to work with him, how crazy and narcy he is.

Even MJ who is a great guy admits my account was in jeoprardy, again I started this thread in order to help people, but now it's obvious that not only can I not do that, but I have A TON of work before I can even begin to make basic human connections again, so it's best for everyone if I go away.

You don’t have to go away man.

Joining this forum means you are a work in progress (like we all are). We all start a different stages and with different challenges. My first threads were a mess ha!

You got great advice on here and you can ask for more if you need to. Just keep being open and be honest with yourself and others.

Don’t bounce and restart somewhere else - that’s going back again to square one. Now that you have made progress on this forum keep going and work on the next challenge.

We all love an underdog story so stick around - you got all the skills to make big things happen. 90% of this is a mental game.

Or you could trawl the forums and find people who are struggling or who put effort into a helpful post and either Like the post or reply to encourage them.

Start replies with “Thanks for ...” and then expand on it. Explain how it’s helped you, and what you’ll do different going forward.

This post was actually really rough to read through! You guys are amazingly patient and generous with your advice. Kudos

@NVious; I recommend you read the "Power of Now" to get better perspective on what is actually real and important in life. You don't have to agree with everything in the book, but it will hopefully give you a shift in your thinking and reaction patterns. You had what is described as a 'painbody attack' which is very common in human nature these days, so you really are not alone. Only through daily practice and seeing your thoughts for what they are, then you can begin to get out of your head and use your mind as the tool it was evolved to be.

Some great advice given here, so I won't tread over the same ground.

Let me just add this:

I believe that most of the stuff that happens to us lacks any inherent meaning. Few things in life are good or bad for their own sake. It's up to you to decide what it means for yourself.

Let's say you're on a six-year winning streak with your poker system. Depending on how you view it, that could mean one of two things:
  1. You're a god among men, or
  2. There's a six-year losing streak lurking just around the corner

(Not a perfect analogy, but bear with me)

Similarly, you can view your eye-opening experience here on the forum in one of two ways....
  1. Something to beat yourself up over ("I can't believe I was like that! I'm such a POS! Ban me!")
  2. A wake up call, and a catalyst to inspire you to behave better ("I can't believe I was like that! I'll do better moving forward and work on xyz to improve")
The moment has come and gone.

Your posts are gone.

In six months or a year, no one here will know what you posted here initially (and those that do likely won't care).

It's up to you to decide what it means.

If you want to leave the forum, then you're free to leave. If you feel it's taking up too much of your time and distracting you from your goals, then I'd applaud your decision to limit your use.

But don't go because you feel you've made an irreparable mistake. Plenty of people have chimed in here to tell you you're being too hard on yourself, and to give yourself a second chance at doing things right.

Take an objective standpoint and imagine this from our perspective - a guy comes in hot, is chastised for his bravado/arrogance, and retracts his statements. He then wants to leave the forum entirely and be perma banned because he doesn't feel he can make things right or fix his behaviour enough to matter.

If it was anyone else, would you think that sounds reasonable? Or would it be an overreaction?

This is about more than the decision to leave or stay here. I think it's one small manifestation of a bigger challenge you're facing... being able to face uncomfortable situations & truths without turning away.

Take some time to think about what has been said in this thread. Reflect on it. Don't make a split-second decision, and don't be so hard on yourself.

I must admit... I saw the avatar. I instantly hit the ignore button. Then I see where this thread has gone.

@NVious I am curious; what made you decide to use that as avatar? This is a business forum not a muscle forum.

Also, you clearly want sympathy now... Why?

Why not just be sincere, "put your cards on the table" and let folks actually help you?

You also joined this forum for a reason. You didn't do it just to post an intro thread and quit. You probably did it to learn and you learned a LOT in a few days about the bad taste you leave with everyone. That is invaluable and actionable. Maybe read "How to Win Friends and Influence People."

This forum has done wonders in immediately helping you uncover some things that need addressed. That is amazing to me. You won't find that anywhere else.

The time it takes to post isn't an excuse. Take it from me, someone who has posted thousands of times here over 10 years... The forum gives more than it takes and this thread is no exception.
