Hi guys,

Interested to see if there are any ex or current pro poker players in this forum. I used to play full time after graduation, but after U.S regulations came into place, I moved into Finance and have been here the past 2 years.

It would be interesting to see what you guys are up to now.

Hi - not a poker player but into FX trading here.

In fact my info product is aimed at traders who struggle with mindset/discipline/psychology. One of the ways round this is to think like a pro-gambler in terms of probabilities, cutting losers and loading up winners.

What aspect of finance are you in now?

I was into poker for awhile. I actually quit because I found baccarat to be more profitable. I basically funded college playing baccarat and teaching it to people, and now I"m sort of funding my startup with baccarat money.

Welcome to the forum

Welcome!

I was big into online poker back before black friday. Nothing too major, but I was 9-tabling .5/1 and .25/.50 6-max tables and made enough to finance my college expenses with that.

Now I'm working at a FT job, and trying to get a business on the side.

Good luck to your endeavors.

The founder of Blue Fire Poker is a long time member here. @snowbank

I played live poker for about 5-6 years. Played in bars, casinos, illegal poker rooms, a doctor's home, friend's homes, stranger's homes and some pretty scary places. Did pretty well at it. Did it mostly for the enjoyment of it not to make a living from it. I played at least 3 nights a weeks sometimes 7. Played in several WSOP satellite tournaments.

Sounds very interesting. Would love to hear more about your product. Where can I find more information?

I am currently working in Investment Management. We structure and manage investment funds - mainly alternative investments (Private Equity / Real Estate).

Yup, Black Friday was a real killer! I mainly played cash online and played upto $25/$50 but mainly played mid stakes for the most part.

Welcome to the forum

Thanks!

I didn't realise that there was a skillful aspect to baccarat... isn't it 50/50 at best?

What job are you doing now? Got any business projects up and running at the moment?

Great! I was a member of BlueFire poker for a while. Some good guys in the team there.

You definitely get the most enjoyment out of poker when it's just a hobby. The moment you turn "pro", your mindset really shifts.

Yea apparently the game is random. I can't say that it's not random, because there is no evidence that suggest that baccarat is not random. So then I would just look stupid. But I do know people who make a full-time living off of the game and I have had success myself. But I could just be very lucky.

Skill? Nothing like skill required for poker. I play trends. When I play I make my bets based on trends, statistics, counting, personal variance, bet timing, money management, and so on. I think that the only reason why I win is because I'm patient and I stay composed. I would imagine that the patient and composed guy playing next to be could have just as much success if he is flipping a coin.

Startup website in the recruitment/job placment industry.
