Hi @Faithlaine, I’m confused. Are you sorry for posting something else that you deleted, or sorry the course is (still) closed?

(The course is not actually closed btw, I’m just discouraging people from purchasing until I redo the videos.)
Wow didn't even know you had a course let me know when you're open again.

I will let people know in this thread when the course videos have been redone.

Don’t hold your breath though. Doing a whole video course is hard work and takes a lot of commitment. It’s “on the long finger” at the moment (an Irish phrase I’m fond of).

In the meantime I’m setting up a paid email newsletter because I can drop wee hints, tips, and long rambles all day every day - because I’m at the coalface as a doer.

I’m not in the course creation business. For me, content is a byproduct of the work I do, and of responding to people in forums, Facebook groups, emails, calls, and conversing with clients and prospects.

If I can leave breadcrumbs behind as I’m moving forward then great. Even better if I can turn that into a scalable revenue stream.

If you signup for the free trial of the course then you’ll end up on my MailCheat(Chimp) list that I (ahem) only setup last week and only mailed for the first time yesterday.

People on that list will hear first what I’m up to and when I release the course again, and release other stuff. (All you email marketers will be facepalming at that. Haha.)

Signup to the free trial of the course. You’re then on the MailCheat(Chimp) list I’ve just created.

I shutdown the Facebook group, and will likely shutdown the forum I created.

People are still looking to buy this, even though the interface has changed. The content is fairly evergreen and people have still managed to create ads in the new interface.

I can't see me redoing this course for a while, so I've dropped the price from $399 to $249 for everyone.

I'm not taking on new members to the community at the moment until I figure out whether I want to keep it going.

UPDATE

I've redone some of the videos for the new interface. I'll get the rest done this week or next, then will push the price back up.

I'm adding the updated videos into the current course, so everyone who’s bought the course will get access to the new videos when they're done.

Note that I've shutdown my forum and don't have a Facebook group anymore.

I do have a paid email newsletter though that I treat as my business journal. I also post the occasional Google Ads tips to it - including my efforts to acquire new clients etc. The link is in my signature.

Thanks for all the free content you post here Andy. I got my first client after gaining enough knowledge and confidence from your free content out there, and built my first campaign too, which seems to be doing well so far. Just bought your course as well.

I purchased Andy's course about a week ago and just wanted to leave a review for anyone interested. At the time of enrollment I was a completely illiterate in AdWords. It took me about half a day to go through the training material. By the next day I started my first campaign and tested the different approaches outlined in the course throughout the week until I found what seems to work for my case.

As others have said before, the course is direct and practical; no fluff and meant to get your hands in the game fast. All of the fundamentals to efficiently and effectively test and launch your campaign are taught. The account audits in the course are also invaluable. Great stuff from one of the best.

Awesome! I’m so pleased you’ve got your own campaigns running and are getting traction.

So you managed, and with a mixture of videos for the old interface and the new interface? That’s good to know while I’m still updating the videos.

Thanks for the review!

Hi Andy,
Has the course videos been updated already?
Thanks for asking.

I’ve updated the core lessons (account, campaign, ad group, keyword, and ad creation). The accompanying PDF is updated too.

What’s remaining are videos about keyword research, and creating the ad extensions to make the ads bigger. These are quite trivial tasks.

I’m so busy with client work that I’ve not got round to updating those videos yet.

Someone asked this about the course:

What’s the earning potential of your business model. If I wanted to offer the same service you are offering - (if I understand it correctly), running Google Ads for local businesses in various towns and cities, what do you charge your customers monthly, on average, and how much do your expenses run?
I’ll answer this directly and then mention other paths you can take with the skills from the course:

When I take on smallish local service businesses my fee is about €250/mth or the local currency equivalent. (Note that all clients pay the ad spend.)

If they’re a larger business and/or serve many cities then I typically charge twice as much, so about €500/mth.

It’s kinda a flat fee, but I quote it as “€XXX/mth or 10% of ad spend”. So if either size of business spends over €6k/mth on ads then my fee would be €600/mth. I typically don’t bother increasing fees but leave it as a flat fee. If they get a better and better ROI then I’m happy to leave the money on the table because that translates to a happier client, longer lifetime, higher LTV, and greater chance they refer other people.

I also have some bigger clients that cover many countries and have a lot of services and products. I’m charging them about €1,500/mth. I’ve had clients at €5,000/mth but I don’t want them that big and taking up that much of my time.

I’m at 25-30 Google Ads clients. Up until I had 20 clients I managed all the campaigns and did the Monday morning Weekly Report emails. So no costs there.

I now pay €200/mth to get the weekly reports created. It’s a simple task, but the first step for someone to join the team and learn what we do, why, and how. Currently, my stepson is doing them.

I also have a full-time freelance developer because I decided to help clients with their websites and sometimes build a landing page for them. This isn’t necessary for you at the start.

I pay a freelance webmaster to configure and optimise hosting for any landing pages we do create - because they have to be highly available and blazing fast (especially on mobile).

I also pay a recurring fee to a graphic designer every month for landing pages that he’s designed and are still live.

Ditto with a copywriter.

And I’m working out how to bring an email marketing/automation freelancer too.

So you can see, as my revenue grew I was able to pay for more capabilities over time. Think of this as your clients paying for your team, *not* as an additional cost.

...

What else can folks do if they know how to run Google Ads campaigns successfully?
  • JV/partner with their clients.
  • Get paid per lead.
  • Generate leads for their own local service business.
  • Get into eCommerce. I’m not a Google Shopping specialist but still manage to help eCommerce clients.
  • Get into selling courses. One of our clients makes 5 figures a month selling courses.
  • Get people onto email lists. We’re running these “info-seeker campaigns” for a few clients. They seem to drop the ball with their email marketing though, hence looking to get help with that. I also helped a startup acquire 15k signups a day using Google Ads.
  • I’d like to create a directory for my county.
  • And directories for various verticals. (By directory think booking dot com.)
  • And build and rent websites (WaaS).
  • And test some plugin ideas I have from seeing the same problems with clients over the years.
  • Provide a service for businesses to get real time market research of what people are searching for so they can then build the funnels to sell what the market actually wants rather than what they think it wants.
  • So much more!!!

UPDATE

I've re-opened the Facebook group to people who've purchased the course.

I've stopped visiting the few big Google Ads groups I was in. The last straw was when someone asked what the difference was between AdWords and Google Ads. Argh!!

My small Facebook group was created to support students of the course in case the lessons weren't clear. It's turned more into a small mastermind of like-minded folks, and I missed chatting to sane (saner?) folks in there.

If you've bought the course then you can find a link to the Facebook group in the Introduction section. Request access and I'll check you've bought the course and add you in. Please note that I'll be regularly culling inactive members to keep the group small and engaged.

Now that I’ve discovered Loom I’m flying through this! I redid about 6 of the videos last night and found it fun.

Do the video. Check it. Redo it if necessary. Upload it. No editing required because the cycle is so fast. It also means the final video is often shorter and slicker because I’ve potentially redone it a couple of times.

Price going back up as soon as I’ve redone all the videos for the new interface.

Here’s another video I did last night. The new course ones are similar to this one (but typically shorter).

Hmmm... maybe I should add this one into the course as a freebie anyway?

I was going to buy this weekend. Don't have time before then to seriously dig in. But I couldn't pass on the chance of being the 100th buyer! :D

I will take you up on that call sometime later when I have implemented enough and have some specific questions.

Thanks Andy!

Hi Andy,

awesome that you have redone the course. I want to generate leads for an (my) ecommerce business. You said the course is not specifically targeted at ecommerce optimization. Does this still hold true?

You call the course "jumpstart". If I have a bit of knowlegde about Adwords and want to generate more leads for an ecommerce business could your course be the starting point? What to do next or more specifically could you point me to some source which is more specified regarding google ads and ecommerce? Or do you say (like it usually is) "execution over information consumption"? So maximizing what I learned in your course instead of more learning?! I'm asking this specifically bc the internet is such a crowded place and gaining traction in a new channel can get really hard really fast - my experience is that more knowlegde is often the answer - because then you are able to find ways around the wide mass (who is driving up prices etc.). Shoot me a PM if necessary.

Thank you in advance and best regards from Germany

What do you mean by “generate leads for your eCommerce business”? Do you mean generate form fill enquiries or phone calls, as well as make sales from the website?

We have a new client at the moment selling office supplies. We’re using the paid search campaigns to generate sales and trying to generate leads too. This is before we create any Google Shopping Ads. The principles are the same: get the keywords nice and tight, have a relevant ad, and send people to a page that offers what they’re looking for.

So as I see it as google shopping and ads work with the same principles you say the principles are universal for both? My goal is generating sales and form inputs with contact data, yes.

Best regards and thank you

Google Shopping is different than standard paid search ads. You don’t load keywords. Instead, Google looks at the title and description of your product and tries to show your ad when it thinks someone’s search term indicates they’re looking for your product. It’s a bit like SEO meets paid search. They can be very effective. It’s just that I prefer to upload thousands of keywords and have tighter control of what I do and don’t show ads for.

What's up Andy, I've been using Adwords for a while now but it never hurts to learn some more. Is this course targeted more towards beginners?

So basically you are saying that control is higher with google ads than with shopping. So that would be your first choice?
