I don't know who I am, help me . I don't have any story to tell anyone.

I'm 21, and I'm planning to go into business, but everybody I'm seeing is selling based on their personal story.

"My life was like...then I created this product...and wham...problem solved".

MJ even mentioned something like having a story behind your brand in TMF . (I've read the book).

The thing is I don't have any story to sell to anybody. I'm not even successful to have any tangible one.

All the Sales book I've been reading lately are based on a trend: Tell your story. Story Brand. Brand Storytelling....

The trend is let people know the face behind the brand. Tell them about your personal life, and how it relates to the product, and they'll buy like crazy.

But I don't have any f**king story to tell, other than I want to create a valuable product that people need (fastlane product).

Do I make up stories...or what?

I'm I missing something?

Please how do I get people to buy my product without telling stories – cause I don't have any. Is there another way to sell without telling people about your past, present, and future?

Sorry if I sound dumb. Forgive me.

I'm open for learning, criticism, roasting, and advice.

Thank you, Everyone.

Tell me, what's the story behind Apple or coke ?

Yeah I don't know either and yet they sell like crazy. Remember the cancer collary:
If you had cancer, how much selling would the guy with the cure have to do ?

It's not that deep, create a product or service that helps people.
That will create your story by itself.

"I saw my grandma struggle to clean her windows so I decided to help her out. There I found out I was good at cleaning windows so now I do it for car dealerships"

"I always struggled to clean windows quickly, so I invented the windowcleaner 9000, a robot that does it for me in record time. Now I don't have to do it myself"

Solve a problem and then you will have a story to tell.

I perfectly understand what you're saying.

However, let's take the GrandMa story you taked about.

Let's say I didn't have any GrandMa or anybody personal story like you said: "Ive always struggled with cleaning windows...I saw my grandma struggle to clean her windows", How do I sell without telling any story? That's my real question.

I think the problem here isn't that you don't have a story.

You don't have a product, do you?

If you did, you'd have some kind of story that led you to that product. It might not be a great one, but it'd be a starting point.

Find what you're going to do to add value to someone's life first, then worry about how to sell it.

Look at my post again.

I said "Solve a problem and then you will have a story".

Of course you don't have a story about helping your granny because you never did it. So ffs go out there, get off your a$$ and help someone.

Skroob said it as well. How tf are you trying to think of a story to sell something if you don't have anything to sell?

When I started my window cleaning business I did not have a story. I just yeeted my offer out there and since people want to have clean windows, I make money.
It's not that hard.

My first customer called me twice. I messed the first call up horribly. Then she called me again. I said that I don't do it anymore and she still insisted that I come clean her windows. I literally did the opposite of selling and still made money because I had a offer that someone wanted.

You need to make a offer right now. Don't worry about selling, if you have nothing to sell.

You can solve a personal problem. Or a problem other's are encountering and build on that. It doesn't need to be 'your personal story'.

If there is not a pizza joint in your town, and people love and want to eat pizza (even though you are allergic to cheese) - you can build that pizza joint and bring value to the public around you. Your customers then can in issense build that story for you that you can leverage.

Additionally - the same idea can apply for you looking around your LIFE. If you are into hiking, and can't find a backpack that contains 2 water bottle holders, one on each side of the book bag - BAM - figure out how to create one and you got your 'story'. A story can be anything you make it to be.
MJ even mentioned something like having a story behind your brand in TMF . (I've read the book).

We all start somewhere. What hobbies are you into? What's your daily life like? What would you like to see different or improved on? What's lacking in your world?

If you are completely out of ideas - and need a product/idea to move forward, see here.

You don't need to solve a 'personal' problem, but you do need to solve a problem or figure out how to bring value to the table.

Even though this is partially true, out of all the products @NeoDialectic and I sold throughout the years, none of them were ever attached to 'us' as people. Sure, some products were born out of personal problems - but NONE were built on the platform of that brand being attached to us personally.
But I don't have any f**king story to tell, other than I want to create a valuable product that people need (fastlane product).

Do I make up stories...or what?
Absolutely no reason to do that.

Plenty of ways to market products, all depends on the market, product and the fit of the two.

Thank you for your input. I do have a product to sell tho. Just that it's not something that solved my own problem – cause I never had any problem related to what the product is solving.

Wow thank you very much.
You really understand my plight.

Okay, here we'll be talking about the customer's story(problem) right?

I find your advice really valuable.

I mean, it doesn't have to solve your own problem... I don't imagine @Subsonic is spending a lot of time washing his own windows.

Anyway though, if you made something to solve a problem, there's a reason you made it, right? Why did you make it, what made you want to solve that problem instead of all the others?

I clean them at least daily to keep up the practice. My windows are the cleanest in the whole area here haha.
