Errr... Anyone know how to create a podcast?

Thanks for these Andy. Listening as I type this. Not sure where you are with this but Pat Flyn also wrote an excellent article on this here How to Start a Podcast: Pat's Complete Step-By-Step Podcasting Tutorial - The Smart Passive Income Blog. I just did a search on my iPhone for "Andy Black" and couldn't find you. As mentioned above all you need to do is submit your RSS link to the major directories. Pat says this...

Podcast directories such as iTunes, Stitcher, Zune, and others read your feed and scan it for properly tagged MP3 files. That’s how they know a new show came out, because it’s shown in your feed.

I think this is why you need a unique name. Searching for "Andy Black" brings up all sorts of results with the words Andy or Black which is a bit too broad. HTH.

Yeah, my name isn't unique at all. On my blog I occasionally get messages saying my song has really helped them get through a tough moment in life. Or asking if I'm the Andy Black SEO dude. Here in Ireland people did a double take when I used to go to the local casino and signed in to play poker.

I haven't turned these into a "proper" podcast yet, preferring to do them for forum members.

Haha, laughed out loud.

That's cool. I've been listening to you this afternoon. Good stuff. Nice and long and unstructured. I like that style.

Full disclose - I ended up removing Charles from the group after listening to after this.

Not as easy decision since he is a good guy but I don't agree with a lot of these tactics. Whenever I use someone elses platform/group I try add a lot of value to that platform and give the person (people) who maintain it the upmost respect.

I grew that group by proving a lot of value on here, my big post on reddit, and by word of mouth. The vast majority of newer members are from people inside the group adding people or from FB promoting it as a recommended group. I never went into a communitty that was tightly knit around a single goal and move them over to something very similar. I really try and always keep my relationships win-win for every involved and usually (hopefully) with more value to them.

I don't agree with these tactics - a tight knit group built around a common goal is not something to be tapped into whenever you need some people to go elsewhere. There are open communities like reddit or this forum where you can make connections and create your own little group. I don't post on here with the intention of moving people over to my FB group. If @MJ DeMarco ever feels that way I will gladly remove all links and threads that give that impression. And I would still post here afterwards.

I would hope that me posting on here adds way more value to MJ than anything I get in return. I recommend his book and forum on my group all the time and have even done free book giveaways etc. I get some value in return for sure but I always make sure to give way more than I take. When I heard this interview it sounded like a lot of take and very little give. I don't agree with a lot of these approaches - again this is the approach, not the person. So its best to part ways and just leave things be.

I don't like drama but I wanted to make my thoughts known. I wish him all the best and he has made huge progress in a short amount of time so I am sure he will continue fine.

Thanks for your feedback on this @Fox.

It's never been my intention to take, or to have an intention to do anything other than help people.
If the intent is lost in the chatter about tactics then that's something I need to address.

For my part, I've just tried to help people, even if they don't fit some sort of ideal client avatar (that I've not created anyway). What amazed me is how helping people has circled back in unexpected ways.

It wasn't directed at you Andy. Anyway I will leave it be - I don't like to dwell on these things and I don't hold grudges. Charles is a good guy, it is just a difference in approaches.

For anyone new like me: Download the app called "Soundy" for SoundCloud. It allows you to increase the playback speed up to 2x for these audios. Doesn't lose the comprehension. Adjust accordingly.

Just a suggestion for people like me who are captured by all the recording titles but realize it'll take like a full day to hear them all. Obviously, you can slow down on the juicy parts that you feel are really relevant.

Just wanted to quickly drop in and say thank you to Andy for all the interviews/calls you've done with the forum members over the years.

And you haven't just kept them to yourself, but uploaded to Soundcloud, so anyone could listen and learn. Some of them were 1h+ long and I didn't mind that at all - I could listen all day long to Andy and other guys talking about Adwords/local lead gen.

I think the length of the recordings is what makes them even more valuable compared to those 2-3 min videos all over YouTube with click-baity titles promising you to reveal all the secrets, but then you learn bugger all from them.

Whereas, there are so many bits and pieces you can pick up from these long conversations where it's all real talk with nothing filtered out. It's like being allowed into a room where "the big boys" do the talking and you are just sat there in the corner making notes, trying to remember everything, so you can take all that info and apply it yourself.

At the end of the day, just knowledge on its own is not power, but applied knowledge is.

I primarily focused on the conversations about Adwords and local lead gen, so found your calls with @Random_0 , @nzott , @Pittman09 , @Contrarian , @JoeyF , @MKAmsterdam , especially useful, so would like to say thanks to everyone who participated in those calls - your help is much appreciated.

Thanks again Andy for all the work you do here for us.

That's great to hear @Blackman. I'm glad they're helping.

I'd love it if you dropped your notes and takeaways into the specific threads so it can help others. It would likely refresh my own memory too!
