AndyTalks with @Almantas about Making Plans and Making Progress
We've been meaning to chat for months and finally got round to it.
I had no idea he was nervous before our call. He talks about that in his thread here.
I had no idea he was nervous during the call either, so it just goes to show how different things can look when you're not in your own head.
It's a reasonably long call... just a couple of guys chatting.
Alamantas starts by asking why I got out of IT contracting.
I ramble on about that, and it could help those who are moving towards contracting and those moving out of contracting.
I mention what I said in interviews to help me get contracts.
But that I always knew I was seen as a cost.
Later in the call Alamantas mentions he's spent a lot of time creating 50 page business plans and not started anything. He agrees that he's very academic.
I explain that all we need to do to be in business is add value, and get paid for it.
And Alamantas talks about how he's finally got something going, and how it's not come from "planning" but from people telling him to shut up and take their money.
Anyway, it's a couple of guys chatting, so if you're on a long road trip it might be just the ticket.
