Day 1. Again.

@Ravens_Shadow U in?

Get it done!

Day 39 over here. Man, this has been absolutely brutal on the body. I've already been sick twice and injured once. Not going to let anything stand in the way of finishing this thing though, I've worked out at 5am, worked out at midnight, finished my water and reading on red-eye flights, there are zero excuses. Not going to lie though, I'm very happy to be on this side of halfway.

What happened?

Well...

Everytime I've stopped it has been a conscious choice. This time I met someone worth dating. So when the day came to choose between seeing her or my second workout I chose the date and paused the challenge. The irony is I got dumped because I don't have enough time for her, so suddenly my schedule has time to allow for this again.

I'm crossing my fingers on it because there is another conference I want to go to. And if I stick to it this time, the conference will be on days 68-71, so if I get that far I can't just "start over". Or maybe I can. Who knows. I mean, chugging water and reading and working out daily has become a lifestyle for me as is.

You know, if I could do the 2 workouts back to back first thing, I'd have finished by now. It is juggling the second workout after work that has gotten me every time. It is a big block of time and I have a lot of things to do in the evenings. And if I stay up late, I start the next day off.

I just know that for me to be a peak efficiency, I need my sleep and to start my day early.

I've thought to just do a "walking lunch" to get the outside workout accomplished, but I have already mentioned that just going for walks, to me, doesn't feel like I'm doing the challenge properly. If I was hiking in the forest or up a hill, that'd be one thing. But walking the mean streets of Tempe AZ just doesn't seem appropriate for 75hard. I might have to give in to that, but I'm not ready to just yet.

Anyways, Day 2, attempt 4 has gone smoothly. Keep going ev'rybody.

You could take a big backpack, fill it full of bricks or stones and go for your walk, at a fast pace. A lot of people walk for one of their workouts so I think that'd be fair, even if you have a good fitness level. You need a solid backpack though.
I'm not on the program now, I've failed a few months back after 15 days and I've been finding every excuse to not start again, but I'm doing it soon. Sometimes I used to carry the groceries home because we don't have cars anymore (they were old, they stopped working and we couldn't buy new ones). So I would have a backpack filled with food, and two heavy bags in each hand, just a week's worth of food for the family. I would take about 30mn to go home and then I'd finish with a run.
Try to identify which activities you have to do can be turned into workouts. Running back from work instead of using the car for example.

This is perfectly acceptable as long as you are walking with a purpose. You're right, though. It's not meant to be a leisurely stroll.

I walk everyday for the outdoor workout and just make sure that I'm keeping a steady pace. Having a fitness tracker helps a ton with this, preferably with a GPS. In perfect conditions I should be walking at a pace of at least 9:30 min per km (15:20 min per mile). If I'm not keeping pace, I just extend the walk a little longer.

I was walking regularly prior to 75 hard, so my pace is pretty good. When I 1st started, I was up around 11 min per km.

I'm going out to get a weighted vest this weekend to make it more challenging, though the winter conditions up here in Canada present a challenge all their own sometimes.

Thanks guys. My first thought is what will I smell like for clients after power backpack walking at lunch.

I appreciate the feedback and positivity. I'll get it figured out.

Hi all,

Just as a reminder to myself for the future. I'm starting 75hard any day now.

Anyone here on the complete #LiveHard program? I'm turning 40 next year and will finish the program before that day. Will be fcking awesome to see what this thing will have of an impact on my business.

Congratz to all those here who completed the 75 days already, and good luck to all the rest!

Yeah I've seen Andy Frisella doing walks with a weight vest. If you can't do a hike or something I think it's a good idea.
I think the same, just just a regular walk is kinda.. meh. One solution I had was to find a road with the steepest hill and just walk up and down it when I couldn't hike, but I live in a suburb with a crazy amount of steep hills.

I'm not going to run unless it's on a beach. I think running on pavement is so bad for my knees.

The other option is to just do a bike ride.

Debating it doing the full thing with all 3 phases after, we'll see. The cold shower thing is truly the only thing keeping me from fully doing it, I just don't like doing things that don't have a proven benefit, but eh, maybe.

Day 44, I'm exhausted. Everything in me wants a day off, but I'm not going to succumb to that little voice in my head that says I've had enough. I'm not going to listen to the detractors that tell me I don't look any different or tell me that I'm not fun to be around sober. I'm not going to lie, it sucks being told those things, but my give-a-damometer is spiking lower and lower each time. I have a mission, they can either get on board or find a new person to listen to their excuses.

Also to Bizydad, I've definitely incorporated some walks. Granted I live in a hilly area so they're challenging on their own and I'm still getting my heart rate up in the 150's doing it, but I wouldn't consider it a "fail" if you have to walk every now and then.

Some that might make the showers easier is doing the Wim Hof breathing exercises. You can even add them in your workout.

Screw those guys, how lame to tell someone trying to improve their life that they are not fun to be around without drinking or that you don't look any different. It's become an eye opener about who I should be spending my time with and who I shouldn't.

Hill walks are great! I like to add in a quick hill sprint. I was doing all hill climb sprints a while back but it was a bit damaging, so now I just do one in the middle when I'm doing a hill walk.

It has definitely made me reevaluate my circle to say the least.

Day 50 here now. Just hopping in to say good luck to everyone who is still in this, keep pushing forward.

I'm starting March 1st. A google search for 75hard stuff got me to this thread. I got about 10 pages in before I even realized this was an entrepreneur forum. Luckily, I have 1 foot in the entrepreneur life and 1 in the 'job' life. Looks like I'll have some books to read for this that I've never heard of!

I listen to Andy's podcast. My 2019 word of the year was DISCIPLINE and I failed hard. Not wanting to use the same word twice, this year I picked IGNITE, hoping to light a fire under me. I shared Andy's podcast in general with a friend who I thought could use some motivation to figure out life. Two weeks later he says "I'm starting a 75hard". This guy does not workout. Ever. At all. For any reason. He eats out mostly, not great food. Drinks daily. Doesn't read. If he is doing this, I have ZERO excuses.

WORKOUTS: One a day will be a walk. The other will be weights, yoga, or another walk on an active rest day. My struggle here is getting out the door. Once I'm in the gym I'm great... but I have this issue where I refuse to work on myself because I say things like "I could workout, oooor I could work on my business." Bad mindset. I know. I'm working on it.

DIET: This will address my biggest struggles. -100g of protein a day. -5 servings of fruit & veg a day. -no processed foods with added sugar. -no quick snack foods like bags of chips.

I work in a brewery. I'm around beer all day. We are allowed to drink as much of it as we want. I did a dry January with a coworker and still gave in and drank 2 days out of the month. It's tough. I not only bartend, but run their social media, as well as pick all the guest beers for the rest of the taplist. This means sales reps bringing me samples, having to try anything new we put on, dealing with the distributors, etc.

Oddly enough, in that building, my bigger downfall is the bags of chips and cookies on the counter. I pop something open to snack on every single day. Water is also a struggle for me. I can wake up at 8am and realize at noon that I haven't had anything to drink yet. I've been trying to drink 100oz for the last few weeks and have not been doing great.

I need this lesson in mental discipline.

I am glad that I found this post! The idea sounds like really (un)fun , count me in. Today is day 1.
Instead of doing the water thing, I will attack my real important problem and limit my internet phone time to twice per day, except if a real important client expects me to do otherwise by his demand for this day.

Video uploading for verification is once per day. This means that if I check it twice and have not uploaded my video I will have screwed up because there is no possibility to publish my video again on this day. Diet for me is no additional sugar and apart from that everything goes (carbs etc). Taking the most possible cold shower only and writing diary with improvement suggestions of the day is mandatory .

The rules for me are:

- at least two practices of at least 45 min each. None must be outside.
- no additional sugar
- no alcohol
- progress video on Instagram each day. My hashtag will be #75hardX , with X being the number of days achieved so far.
- 10 pages of a non-fictional book.
- internet usage of phone (mobile data or wifi switched on) limited to two times per day, except if huge amount of money or reputation is in risk on a day.
- always coldest shower possible
- write in diary when waking up and before going to sleep.
- time for a day is time before getting to sleep.
- if challenge fails, MUST go back to day 1. Only possible way out is completing the challenge.

So I restarted the challenge and am on day 3 now.

I fell off the last few weeks pretty badly with my habits and discipline. Corona eventually got to me (I tried my best!) and I started slipping mentally, physically, and with my biz.

I made up a video about last time and I will update this thread as I go along this time.

I posted up a link on YT to back here too so hopefully get a few new people joining us.

Anyone up for restarting also?

Yeah I fell off hard when the gyms closed down. Though being honest I've started a few times and never even reached day 10 due to being inconsistent af.

This time for real though. Tommorow is day 1.

I started again yesterday, as soon as I read the mailing of @Fox. I thought: yess!!!!!
This is just the right time for me too... It was already evening, but since my diet and drinking habits (probl. wrong word choice) are already in place, I could make up for the rest just in time before bed.

I was just wondering, for the pic, if it needs to be a full body shot. Is a head shot ok? Anyway, I'm presuming that a daily full recording of the outdoors workout (just an additional personal challenge) can count as a few bodyshots.

... Or am I already lazy at day one?

You want a body shot so you can see progress later.

It is more for yourself to see what consistency looks like over time.

If it is just your head the only thing you might see is a tan haha.

Finally started this yesterday but annoyingly failed already because I left my gym workout and most of my water intake towards the end of the night. Gonna space everything out from now on and definitely chug a load of water straight after waking up.

Pumped to get this going properly.

I just started today.
I'm adding a few things into the 75HARD: Weighting and Journaling daily.
I'm logging my weight into a website called The Hacker's Diet, it calculated your weight trends and I like it a lot.

I've been doing great on the fitness side last year, but then I went traveling and had a lot of other things going on with my life afterward, and then the corona hit and I stopped working out and taking care of my diet at all.
June 19:

that's like 13% fat and some shadow of a 6 pack.
And here's today (June 2020), not doing so well:

That's like the worst I've been, before I started my weight loss journey in 2016, 80+kg. It's still with more muscle so it's not as bad - but I do want to go back to 2019 form and even better.
I've also stuck these on the wall:
33650

The checklist was made by someone here, probably on pages 5-10 but I can't be bothered to link it, I'll change that paper every 25 days on the challenge.
That's it basically. Copying from @Fox I'll lift 6 days a week, each day one muscle group.
The rest would be walks, and I'll also try to youtube some yoga or other home workouts.

I'm using this app to track my water:

I'm in Fox's web design course, and he and a few other students are doing the challenge, so we have nice accountability.
That's it basically, I'll update once I'm up to a bigger number like day 25 or 50.

Day 6 today and going great. Haven't found it too hard at all.

Only things have been giving up on sugary treats. I developed a strong chocolate milk habit during corona haha.

I made up a video about last time and I will update this thread as I go along this time.

Anyone up for restarting also?

I'm back in. I fell off the wagon. No excuses. Just didn't get it done. I failed on water and then, after restarting, the picture. Sloppy execution.

Great video. I liked the transparency.
