Farming my way into the fastlane

It has been a whirlwind
It has been a while members,and I am glad to report that I am still alive( I have lost so many crucial relatives that being alive is now number one on my gratitude list).

On the farming front,the weather has messed up most of my plans.When we were supposed to have a dry spell,it rained like the heavens had been split open.Unfortunately,that is when I was supposed to get the bulk of the cassava chipped.Moreover,I was on holiday then and could have supervised the project.Now when it is supposed to rain as if the devil is after it,there are some pockets of sunshine that I would have exploited if I was in the village.

Nonetheless,the cassava they managed to chip is selling steadily,albeit at a low price.I think they have so far chipped three quarters of what I had planted.

I also think I am done with farming for the time being.I might consider it as a hobby in future,but not my main business.

The money is in agriprocessing,and I have always known this.It will call for lots of funds and I am not seated.

I am proud to announce that I got my first gig on Upwork.It was for $20 but it made me feel so useful! Alas! I cannot withdraw my earnings because I need to verify my identity,yet all the initial cards in Uganda are expired and haven't been replaced.I am now toying with the idea of forking out money I can't afford to spare and process a passport.Is Upwork still worth it? My gig was simple. I just had to make 200 grammar edits on Wikipedia,but a job is a job and money is money.

What has raised my hopes that I can raise the money for my agriprocessing business is the fact that last week, my pitch to a NewYork based magazine was accepted. I have just written a 1500 word article for $200. I am on cloud nine.If I can get more writing engagements,I should be able to take my flour business to the next level.Thanks to @Andy Black who first pointed out the hidden treasure that is my writing skill.

On the academics front,I passed my semester one exams with 4.30.I am now in my second and last face to face semester.Next year will be for research. We have actually already started coming up with topics. I have chosen to explore the influence of culture on gender representation in school leadership. ( I should know given my circumstances, right? )

I wish I could say all is well on the marriage front.

I am battling more than monetary deprivation.I am in the fight of my life and I will need your prayers.I will keep fighting till my humanity is recognised.I refuse to disappear into obscurity to fit into some archaic hierarchy.

Personally, I don't like Upwork and other platforms like that, and have never used them. Are you able to pick up clients or work outside of those platforms? Ideally monthly recurring work from the same businesses.
