Whats going on?

Thought I will share this little fun day that happened an year ago.

I am born on August 20, 1990 and last year I turned 25.
I was working a job I hate, something that I could not comprehend because I used to dream the good life since I was a little child. I even graduated from the most elite college in India, I deserve more...right?

lol

So last year, when I hit 25 I did the following -
  1. Quit my job (I was relieved 2 months later)
  2. Started my new business
  3. And gave 25 high fives to random people on the street to celebrate
I have a video :)

But here is the rest of the story.
On that day I was super optimistic. I thought I will be rich ....fast.
You can see that in my energy in the video :)
My goal by the time when I hit 26 was to be financially independent.

I will be 26 in 4 more days. I am paying my rent and eating food without a job.
I am not even close to being rich.
I failed a lot and won little.
I would not call myself financially independent because I still thrive on a string that can break anytime.

But F*ck yeah, it was still an epic journey.

I am 26 and TFF is 10. This should be the best year so far.

Love this. Well and truly hits the spot.

It's interesting because at the moment I'm probably as poor, financially, as I have ever been. Yet, I feel better than I ever have before. I'm a little behind you in my journey but I can relate to your mindset because for the first time In my life I have a purpose and I'm excited about the future. Perhaps I wont become financially independent this time next year, in 5 years, or even ever, but I'm enjoying and relishing the journey and feel infinitely better for taking full responsibility for my emotional, physical and financial well being. It's all about the journey, the destination will take care of itself.

Hope you have a great birthday in 4 days time! Enjoy yourself. :)

My revenue is less now than it was in 2000 when I was an IT contractor. It's better revenue though - I'm working from home and am slowly separating my income from my time.

AS @MJ DeMarco said here:

My friend, you are already IN the Fastlane.

Fastlane is not some arbitrary sum of money. It's not passive income while sitting on a beach. And it's not retiring at 30. Fastlane at its core is a mentality. And as soon as you obtain that mentality, you are in the Fastlane.

So as long as continue your entrepreneurial pursuits, even if you fail this venture or the next, you CONTINUE. This is something that is lived, not tried. The money comes later as a result of living it.

Just want to make that clear!

Good luck. :)

Happy Early Birthday, Nifal! Having the balls to quit your job and start a business is a big win in itself! There's nothing wrong with failing as long as you're learning and applying what you learned. Keep up the optimism and high energy. I can't wait to see what 26 brings you!

@sWALK90 Thanks! Just curious, what business are you doing? Whats the story.

@12Nick12 Thanks for the wishes.

@Green Destiny Thats true. We have to be as smart as we can, learn as much as we can and put as much effort as we can and then we have the best chances (I think Mark Cuban told something along those lines). For me my greatest sticking point is that I am not pitching enough. I have to go and grab more sales.

And thanks man for the wishes.

@Andy Black Awesome! For some people working for someone else to make money is just not going to cut it.

I feel the same. The money is running out. The timer is now ticking.
It all comes down to sales.
