As a brand designer I often hear from people how they don't care about logo, website design, etc; they just wan to sell. Many of those people end up selling nothing because they don't look legit and someone buyers can trust. This could be applied on any kind of business!

How Important is eCommerce Brand Identity Design?

The importance of a strong eCommerce business identity can never be belittled. It was important 4 years ago as well; however, with burgeoning technology and increasing ecommerce competition, it has become even more important. It's the most vital part that can make or break your business. This is because there are millions of ecommerce stores available to shop from. When customers have more options, it becomes extremely important for an ecommerce business to have a distinctive presence to grab customers' attention.

Still the question is....

What Makes a Compelling eCommerce Business Identity?
The Voice of Your Brand-
Does the way you communicate with your customers affect your brand identity? Yes it does ! The 'Voice' of your brand refers to how it conveys the message about what it is in the market for. It determines the way your brand will be perceived by the customers and hence the 'Voice' of your brand helps in ecommerce brand building.

The Visual Appeal Of Your Brand-
The visual appeal is another vital element that contributes to make your ecommerce store impressive. Your ecommerce brand identity design depends on the visual appeal a big time as it instills a sense of trust which is quite important to make your brand popular and trustworthy. Goes without saying that trust plays a pivotal role in ecommerce brand building.

The Value of Your Brand-
Here the 'Value' doesn't refers to what makes your ecommerce business unique. Does your brand solve customers' problems or acknowledge their needs? If it does, then there is a reason for the customers to buy your product or service.

Elements of a Good eCommerce Brand Identity Design-
  1. eCommerce Logo Design- The logo design is a crucial part of your ecommerce business identity. If you want your ecommerce brand identity design to leave a lasting impression on your customers' mind, then your logo design must be a reflection of your brand identity

  2. eCommerce Color Scheme- What makes an appealing ecommerce color scheme? If you are serious about ecommerce brand building, then choosing a minimal color scheme is always a good idea. In order to help important things such as 'Contact Us', 'Grab This Deal Now' get highlighted, you must choose a contrast colors.

  3. Navigation- It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call 'Navigation' the most important bit of your ecommerce brand building. Really? But how is navigation related to design or brand identity design? It is indeed. If you haven't designed navigation while designing your ecommerce store, then you have missed out on a very essential element that can ruin your business prospects.
Going cheap with your brand look at the start will cost you so much time and money later on when you realize you have to change it. Changing just a logo on everything it was printed on will cost you a small fortune!

I'm not a designer who enjoys only design, I enjoy a business side of my service as well. I like reading about cool business successes and can't emphasize you enough how important is to look professional. Looking good will boost you ahead of your competition. If you have 10 sellers and they are kinda similar in business but only one of them looks better than the rest...who will have the best chances?

People will recognize and trust you if you have a legit looking brand that shows consistency online and offline. This is only possible if you invest the best you can.

Don't fish for the cheapest designer, establish your budget and try to find the best one your money can buy!

This isn't an ad platform.
I agree, but people easly found my details in the past (and I worked with those people) so the link in the end is just one step less. Replying here, in DMs and Email is just too much. I prefer email for a serious conversations with anyone. Thank you.

p.s. If moderators think this isnt ok, I will gladly remove the link, but post will still help people.

Yes remove it. If you want clients pay for a marketplace ad. This seems like a not so subtle sales pitch.

Edit - I did it for you.

There are many parallels in the OP that resemble the 5-shifts webinar in this thread:

GOLD! - Lex DeVille's: Guru Cults Exposed: The Tactics "Experts" Use To Pull You In & Suck You Dry

High-level info. Talk about "many people" messaging him. Positioning branding as the key to sales. Last but not least... you must INVEST in the BEST... oh by the way, he's standing by to help!

I spent $20k on brands last year that I haven't launched and therefore haven't earned a single sale. I spent $0.00 on designers for my personal brand, and it sells 100% better because I launched products and made sales. In fact, my personal brand earned sales before it was a brand at all. Brands don't determine sales. They determine long-term loyalty and identification.

Branding does play a role in business, but brands form over time and through repeat exposure to the customer regardless of whether it's a $0 brand or a $10,000 brand. I'd say branding simply supports business growth once a business has sales.

So you actually don't need to invest in the best.

You need to put good products in front of people and give them an opportunity to buy. Those who have the cash are welcome to invest in their brand, but since the OP is clearly targeting people who don't have sales, and offering branding as the key to sales, it's important to note that you don't need a designer to craft a successful brand.

All you really need is to take action, put a good product in front of the right people, and then be consistent with your messaging to them over time. Pick a couple colors, read a couple blog posts on branding, read Brand Seduction. Save the rest of your cash until you have sales.

TL;DR Branding is important. But it doesn't determine sales.

Ok, thank you. I will still answer to any questions here or lead a healthy discussion.

I put the link as people would find me and message me even through the comments I made on posts made by others...just want to avoid DMs here.

I never said that branding is THE KEY to sales. You can have the best looking brand but without other things is absolutely nothing. I didn't say you have to invest in $500 logo design. You can look up at my history where I talk how people should used just free font as their logo before they decide they can invest for something custom.

My text is a piece of advice for people who think that Fiverr $5 logo design is the same as a $500 or $5k logo design....Fiverr website is the same as $10k website.

There are people who just don't care (most of them don't succeed) and there are people who really care but they just don't know the difference...they never investigate that field or they have never talked with anyone.

My goal isn't to make an spam ad and try to earn a quick few hundreds. I want do give my 2 cents and educate people who maybe need a couple of suggestions in this field.

I will repeat one more time for a logo as a foundation of the brand....Don't use cheap logos from Fiverr and similar sites, there is a reason why something is so cheap...they often stole designs or use illegal stock parts form Freepik or similar site and sell it to you.

Go to Google fonts, pick a good font and use it as a logo till you decide you can invest and hire a proper designer.

If you are looking for a designer try to find it on Dribbble or Behance.

I got DMs in the past as a result of my comments on other people's posts...I didn't post my link there.

This time I included my link just to get email instead of DMs. Reason? I spend time replying to those DMs and I never get replied again. If someone actually goes to the website or directly on email, then I have at least more proof that person will reply again and he/she is serious about conversation/project.

Another reason why I don't like chatting here...even browsing this forum as I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO DO is UI design. I don't want to be disrespectful, but this forum is so great to have to bad user experience.

Cluttered with ads and call to action buttons...side bar section. When I first made an account here I didn't know where to look or read. Even today I struggle with some stuff.

I know you could nobody cares....everybody are used to it....but trust me, more clear and simple design would do better, especially for new members.

No, you don't have to hire me for this....you can go to Dribbble and Behance. You will be amazed how good designs you will find.

My point is to keep it in the thread or don't be surprised when people message you.

If I said in every post "I have been helping a ton of people with web design through messages"... guess what? I am going to get a lot of messages.

Why don't you say "let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment below and I will get back to you when I can".

I am grilling you a little cause you are complaining about something you yourself are encouraging.

Yea, you're missing the point. Business development activity on a forum, regardless of the explicitness, will create a trend of exponential advertising until the content is a swath of bullshit sales copy. Then it won't be a forum anymore, it'll be a marketplace. In fact, there is a marketplace tag created just for that purpose. I'm not a mod, but this is common sense.

You're getting flack because this is another thinly veiled advertisement concealed with a supposed value drop. That don't usually work here and you've done it a few times. The first time the mods let it go.

Although we welcome you finding business and new clients via the forum through your natural contributions, you're treating the forum like a marketing channel.

You can do that, but it's an inexpensive $49 and allocated in the proper location for advertisements. The price is kept low so there are no excuses for those who want to use the forum as a lead channel.

Yeah you are right, I didn't think of that other people could do it and it would became a mess (ad platform). I don't want that as I read this forum as well.

I tried to find similar forums with the same or better quality of content...I couldn't. There is some stuff on Reddit but...

My post could be applied on this forum too. Is a good forum, but UI experience is terrible (this is a reason why I looked for other forums). Using it on my iPhone is a step from nightmare....copying text is almost impossible. Making a new post often doesn't work with some weird glitches it's hard to understand.

I would be be 0-24 on it if it's done better...seriously!

I hope it will be simplified, fixed and modernized one day!

Finding clients is a good thing of course, but my goal isn't to make a few quick bucks here.

I'm using this forum to learn something outside design too. My goal is to make a business one day that doesn't include designing for others.

I said many times before how and where people should find designers. Just trying to to explain to people that looking good could actually help them. They can look good for free too in early stages of their business...but going cheap is the worst solution.

It's better to use free font for as a logo than a $5 logo design from Fiverr.

Also, I actually wanted to ask you something so it would be great if we could discuss it here.

Is there any chance you will consider updating look (and some functions especially on mobile view) of the forum in the future? Something more simple and ''easier'' for the eyes. Maybe even a mobile app would be great.

This is the best forum I could find on Internet, but UI experience is not that great (please don't take this as disrespect, I would just like to see an improvement of something I use almost daily).

This forum runs on Xenforo. Those who run Xenforo as a forum app have been crying about this for years, including myself. In other words, step in line. I've been waiting for them to mobilize the forum since 2013. Other forum options are no better, it's an industry ripe for modernization, and this discussion has been had here numerous times.

Aha ok. That's too bad! Because since day one I've seen it's something off here.
Well, I hope it will be improved one day!

Also, maybe you could explore other forum platforms or get a custom platform (if that's even possible).

I've been paying attention to OP as he's a logo designer, and this is not the first time he's doing this lol.
The previous posts were shorter, but the theme he's hawking is the same : logo design is the most important part when starting a business, don't use Fiverr logos, here's some logo tips, and if you want logos done, I'm your man, my company name is in my avatar blah blah blah....

But this time, he did go a little too far.
OP would have better luck with Reddit r/entrepreneur or similar (r/business r/startups), or even the Shopify forums where people are less sensitive to these sort of things, I promise.

This forum needs more people like OP, DamianPros and other similar folks, because these guys ALWAYS have the ability to BAIT out the gold bomb droppers like RPeck, Fox, Lex etc....and the thread turns from a guru/sales thread to a knowledge-filled one. My favorite.
