I am new, and I realized that I have a slow-lane mindset

I am 20 years old and I am currently studying for a degree in Information Technology. English is not my first language so I might sound unclear.

At the start of February 2022, I developed a new hobby to read at least 30 pages a day. After some fifteen books later, I got the chance to get my hands on the book Millionaire Fastlane and the ideas within it are truly fascinating to me.

I am currently reading the Millionaire Fastlane and realized that my plan to get a degree and a good job was never gonna help me fulfill my dreams. This plan is designed to be slow and unrewarding, plus the average salary in our country is around $350 so this really won't get me anywhere. Apart from the painful and mundane job that I have to endure if I follow this path, this plan may make my dreams impossible to achieve. Now that I realized this, it would be a no-brainer to follow my slow lane plan. I would now like to be an entrepreneur despite it not being related to my college education and maintain control over my life in its many aspects. All thanks to the concept of the Fastlane introduced to me. The Millionaire Fastlane is truly one of the best books I've ever read.

I am very thankful, MJ, that I learned this while I am still young and studying. Your book saved me from getting stuck in the slowlane.

(I would still finish my college education).

Not necessarily.
Depending on what you study over there, those skills could be used to build a business in that niche.

And don't make the mistake of thinking that a fastlane approach means quick and easy freedom. It will most likely involve more work and more commitment, but the potential outcome is orders of magnitude better than the slowlane.

@noob2022 so what are your next three things to do to accomplish your goal?
specific, measurable, actionable....
what will you do this week to use your opportunities / talents / assets to achieve your goal?

My goals for this week:
1. Get through 50 pages of a book called Python Crash Course by Eric Matthes (7 pages per day). I am about 1/3 through and I hope I'll finish the book within this month. Practice. To have a more solid foundation in programming.
2. Make my first simple WordPress website, I have no prior experience with this one. Practice. To get freelance web development jobs in the future while studying.
3. Start and finish a new book within the week or 30-40 pages per day. Drop a recommendation if you feel like doing it. To expand my knowledge in certain areas.

I don't know if these goals are dumbass, please feel free to educate me.

Those are not goals. That is a to do list.

Start with 'what is your why'. Build your1/5/10 (use MJ's)
then set those 1 year GOALS in front of you.

what are the next three BIG things you can do to achieve those goals.
if write a book is a major goal ...... today's big thing could be 'write 1 page'
if freelance web dev to make enough money to live free is a goal ..... today's big thing could be 'get a one page website up' or 'get a web dev customer to pay me $100 to do a one page website'

the things you do each day should advance you toward your goals.
make them very specific, measurable, actionable like the ones above..... it would be VERY clear at the end of the day if you had or had not 'written 1 page', right?

now figure out a direction and your next BIG 3 and repost........

I'm not quite sure what 1/5/10 means.

My goal big goals for this year are to become a proficient Python programmer and WordPress developer. To the degree that, I can pull off at least $100 - $500 projects freelance. Another goal is to become more knowledgeable in IT, finance, entrepreneurship, music, (I'm a musician), etc.

For the programming and WordPress dev part, I only started about a week ago. I practice them every day. I am still learning the basics.

For the third one, I started it out around February this year. I tried to read a book every week but changed it to at least 30 pages per day. So far, I have read 13 books. I must say that my first read (Man's Search for Meaning) was very interesting to me that it motivated me to read more, lucky me. But still, I made the mistake of forcing myself to finish quite long esoteric books that don't interest me just for the sake of finishing them, which took about 4 weeks each.

For the finance and entrepreneurship part, I only just finished my first book regarding these topics.

For the musicianship part, I practice about 1 - 2 hours every single day.

For all these goals, I am applying the takeaways I got from the book Atomic Habits by James Clear which I think is really helpful to craft habits that will eventually help me actualize these goals.
