waste of time. Might have worked 2 years ago. Cold calling, referrals, door knocking and networking is better.

everything in my country is 5 years behind the US ;) ..

yes it isnt the best way... referals would be great but i think i have to do the cold mail/call road for a few months to gain some traction.

networking is great too of course - and i will do that too. but with cold mail i could reach everyone with a bad website...

People get like 100 emails a day. 99% never get opened.

upload_2019-5-18_22-19-37.png

It's like an HR person looking through job applications/resumes or a College Admissions counselor looking through applications/essays, the vast majority gets thrown out.

You can still send emails but it better be the most eye-catching attention grabbing subject line.

Hmm...I’m not so sure about cold emails these days. I think having a website with a lead magnet, blog post etc would be better to warm up the prospect.

Different channel but I’ve secured some sponsors for web properties I have via LinkedIn cold messages. I’d say the ratio is around 20 to 1 - 3

Best not to think of cold emailing in terms of “100”.

You want to really understand the exact value of the last results you have gotten clients. “I helped x type of business specially with y and that got them z”.

Then next step is to find specific businesses with more than likely the same problem but who at least want the same value.

Then reach out to them in the proper way.

Think in 100 terms means “spray and pray” and rarely work. When it does it is nearly always low paying clients that go nowhere to long term growth for your own business.

Hey @Fox - Thanks for your answer!

"Spray and Pray" spam wasn't my intention at all. The 100 should just serve as a comparison value so we can compare how much success other people have with Cold Mailing.

I sent 12 Mails tomorrow and will send maybe 10 today. i keep you informed ;)

Around 2014-15, i sent 20 or 30 personal emails to design/communication web agencies in France/Canada offering my services as a freelance developer and i got a client calling me 6 months later and are in business with them since and sold a total of 60k euros to them. so it was around 3-5% return in this case. and now i have got another freelance doing the work for me :)
