I have just found a list of 22 fastlane-tips on my hard drive, which I saved from the forum some time ago and I thought the tips might be worth sharing.

What have you learned?

Let's add together a list of one-liners that compress fastlane wisdom which we have gained through the forum/MJ's books.

Here is my (incomplete) list.

Compilation of 22 short&quick FL tips that I have learned here:

1) The only enemy to victory is you.
2) Problems are challenges that need to be overcome.
3) Other people's opinions do not make your reality.
4) Focus only on one (1) thing and kick a$$ at it.
5) 10 businesses that make $1000/mo. aren't better than 1 that makess $10.000/mo. FOCUS
6) You have to eat, live and shit your thing.
7) Talent is not required, but desire and discipline are.
8) Your customer service must be the best in the market.
9) Don't be Guru'd.
10) Your answer to what you want to be must always represent a dream, vision and hope.
11) There are no experts in predicting markets.
12) Opportunity doesn't care about your timing.
13) Good money is $20.000/mo.; Big money is $200.000/mo.
14) The "How can I make money?" mindset will lead you nowhere.
15) Build system that generate money by filling needs and solving problems.
16) Do what you love and money will follow is BS if you don't fill a need.
17) Anything build on sand comes crumbling down.
18) Never stop learning.
19) Get rich quick is good / Get rich easy is evil.
20) What do I have to offer to the world?
21) Don't listen to those who have less than you for money advice.
22) Impact Millions.

I collect quotes. I’ve a Trello board of well over 100 favourite business quotes. I started posting them on Instagram but lost the will to live with that platform. This thread has me thinking about resurrecting that mission, but posting elsewhere, and maybe as animated whiteboard/doodle videos...

A couple more gold nuggets from @snowbank

If you listen to the right people, the game is easy… but it’s still HARD.

If you’re not sure if you’re really trying, the answer is easy: you’re not.

Sometimes when you’re starting out you’re not going to know which direction to go, but going with a suboptimal route is the optimal route if it gets you going.

Don’t compare your chapter 2 to someone else’s chapter 10.

Haha dam, what do you mean by lost the will to live with that platform? Do you mean its bad to hang around there? I try to strictly use it for business, however I often find myself scrolling around in it, which is obviously not good...

Would love to hear a bit more about what you meant though.
I like engaging with people, getting into conversations, and figuring out how to help them. Instagram is overrun with bots. I could also feel myself getting stupider the more time I spent on it. Not my kinda place.

From today's newsletter from Noah Kagan. Def. some gems here.
Here are 20 things I’ve learned in the 20 years online:

  1. People still read...blogs, books and more
  2. Mediums change... But people don’t. “TV” has gone away but we spend as much time bingeing on Netflix.
  3. Marketing is still the same. Who’s the customer and where are they?
  4. Ads work. Annoying yes but effective and scalable. People who brag about not doing them are missing out.
  5. When you read about it…it’s generally too late. Find things before others.
  6. Persistence. Is the most powerful tool in business.
  7. Prioritizing. Is still the key weapon to win in business.
  8. Impressive. You should constantly be impressed by the people you work with.
  9. Goal planning. Works. I know systems are helpful but I like having a destination.
  10. Revisit the past. For me so far it's been blogging, chess and coaching. What have you stopped doing that you liked?
  11. FUN. Work and life SHOULD be fun. If it’s not, change it.
  12. Teach. Mentoring is the best way to grow yourself and give back.
  13. Geography matters. I found Austin early for me, find the right place for you.
  14. Make with your hands. Especially if you work online, go build a bench or fix things around your place. A nice tangible shift to work that way.
  15. Keep reading. The most successful people I know, read a lot.
  16. Creation > consumption. Creating always makes you feel better.
  17. Unfollow + unsubscribe. Unless it benefits you, delete it.
  18. Consistency wins. Keep going weekly, eventually you’ll win.
  19. Email marketing is great. Yadda yadda, you know.
  20. Build a tribe. I love all you dorks, join our FB group to hang with me.

I love the Winston Churchill quotes:

"You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.”

“Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.”

Responsibility is the price of greatness

The only impossible journey is the one that never begins

a hero is a mindset
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing

Judge a tree by the fruit that it bears

The best time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

A bad day for the ego is a great day for the soul

Everyone is self-made. Its only the millionaires who admit it

The thing that you must do next is the thing that you are putting off

When you lie with dogs, you come up with fleas

Frustration results from exaggerating the importance of desires.

As you live your days, so you live your life

Your life is a direct reflection of the expectations of your peer group

Anyone got some new good one-liners?
I keep my own list on a piece of paper on my desk and review it weekly, adding quotes as I find them. I should probably review it daily.

I may have gotten some of these from the forum, but I have forgotten where:
  • It doesn't matter what you know - it matters what you do.
  • You are the author of your own life.
  • Hard choices, easy life. Easy choices, hard life. (something very similar to this in one of MJ's books).
  • The grass isn't greener on the other side. It's greener where you water it.
  • The best way to predict the future is to create it.
  • The word becomes flesh.
  • Sweat more in training, bleed less in war.
  • Sacrifice what you are for what you could become.
  • You must be the master of your own kingdom.
  • It is vain to do with more what can be done with less. (Occam)
  • Today's results come from last year's work.
  • You don't blow the interview that day. You blow it by failing to prepare in the days before.
  • He whose gaze is fixed upon a distant star will not falter. (DaVinci)
  • Success depends on systems - your day is decided well in advance.
  • Luck is the residue of design.
  • Do the thing, and you will have the power.
  • Make persistence your watchword, and failure will eventually grow tired of chasing you.

"You can judge the quality of a Chinese factory by the quality of their bathroom".

-someone I met at a past Fastlane summit.

Has proven 10,000% true in my case so far.
I think this axiom is also true with any restaurant.
