It seems that (at least at this time of writing), AI is facing some hurdles in terms of being able to generate more accurate images. Even MidJourney v4 can't generate scenes with lots of people; it gets the hands, faces, legs and other parts of the human anatomy looking weird and completely distorted. Maybe v5 will change that but it still has some way to go before it can eat most creative jobs lol

But text is a lot easier in terms of getting the AI to learn and generate. I see AI coming for copywriters/text-based jobs first, especially with the upcoming Chat-GPT 4. I read one article on The Decoder today that GPT 3/3.5 can already perform pretty decently at the Bar exams (the law/legal exams). Scary lol I'm already using Chat-GPT to write Instagram captions for me so I don't have to spend the time or $250/month on a copywriter lol

I don't mind a Universal Basic Income if it means I can go fishing in the morning by the river, or read a book under a tree at some peaceful spot while the wind blows. Ah, the life! I may even try my hand at woodworking!

Personally, I think the best way to overcome imposter syndrome is to stop thinking about yourself and focus on helping someone else - you don't get imposter syndrome when you see an old lady drop her groceries.

It's interesting that all the ChatGPT suggestions were internally (me) focused.

Q: how to overcome imposter syndrome

A: Imposter syndrome is a common psychological phenomenon in which individuals doubt their accomplishments and have a persistent fear of being exposed as a "fraud". It can be a difficult and distressing experience, but there are steps you can take to help overcome it:

Acknowledge and accept your feelings: It's important to recognize that imposter syndrome is a normal and common experience, and that having these feelings does not make you an imposter.

Reflect on your accomplishments: Make a list of your accomplishments and reflect on the hard work and effort you put in to achieve them. This can help you see that you have earned your success and that you are not an imposter.

Seek support: Talk to a trusted friend, mentor, or counselor about your feelings. It can be helpful to have someone to listen and offer a different perspective.

Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and remember that everyone makes mistakes. Instead of being self-critical, try to be understanding and forgiving of yourself.

Set realistic goals: Try to set achievable goals for yourself, rather than trying to be perfect. This can help you feel more in control and reduce the chances of experiencing imposter syndrome.

Focus on learning and growth: Rather than focusing on being perfect, try to focus on learning and improving. This can help you feel more confident and capable, rather than feeling like an imposter.

It may take time and effort, but with practice and patience, you can learn to overcome imposter syndrome and build self-confidence.

I didn’t think they would make good interview questions either. Would I bullsh*t or would I say I didn't know?

I rubbed my chin and went "Hmm. I don't know what that is. I'd guess it's like XYZ for Windows. I'd look it up."

Apparently I got the job because I then said something like "Do you not think I could figure it out?" (That seems a bit blunt for me so I'm not sure what I said and what they heard.)

Another interview was probably my best ever. He asked what I did different from colleagues. I had to sit back and think.

"When my automated jobs run they always create a log file and within the log file I write the date and time and the command that was run for every single command. That way me, or someone else, can follow what was done and when, and see where something might have taken too long, and how to repeat it by hand if it failed."

He liked that.

His next question was "What's been your trickiest challenge in the last 12 months?"

I sat and thought again. "I presume you want one I solved?"

"That would be ideal." he replied. "We'd prefer to hire problem solvers."

I explained a scenario where doing Z took too long and the system ran too slow for users, so I did X and Y first, then Z was an instantaneous switch and users didn't notice.

"Oh, that's interesting. How long did those three steps take?"

"Aha, I have the log file here!" I exclaimed, and proceeded to dig out my portfolio (no other techies ever bring portfolios of work and logfiles btw). We stepped through the logfile together looking at the date-time stamp for each command.

I'm amazed at the opportunities little daily posts can bring.

I posted daily short videos to LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and a Facebook page for a couple of weeks last year.

TikTok and YouTube got the most views by far, but LinkedIn and Facebook brought conversations and actual new business. (I suspect people are more inclined to connect and chat on LinkedIn and Facebook... plus I already had connections on those platforms and the daily posts seemed to remind people of me.)

So keep posting daily tidbits - video, images, memes, text notes, whatever.

People see them even if they don't engage.

You'll get better at posting, and you'll build up a history people can look through if they want to "check you out".

If you're stuck with what to post about, put the reader first. Post to help just one person and you'll not go far wrong.

I'm reminded yet again of my favourite business quote:

"Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person closest to you." (Mother Theresa)
