There is a new metric called "User Power" here at the forum which is your ratio of LIKES to POSTS.

I high power rating (100%+) usually means you are a good contributor.

Super high (200%+) usually means great.

Less than 100%, well, you still might be new. AND THAT IS OK.

The point is, if you have 400 posts and have a Power Rating of 23%, something is wrong.

This new feature has been implemented due to suggestions.

This new feature might help you determine who to help, and who to ignore.

PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE NEW USERS as they initially have 0 scores.

However, if someone has 400 posts and a power score of 20%, you know, you're wasting your time. AND YOUR TIME IS PRECIOUS.

1679182916605-png.47695

And ChatGPT was instrumental in making it happen, in helping me expose the code to get it done quickly.

Some of the posts below where MOVED from various threads when this was discussed.

SOME NOTES:

  • Older users who haven't visited the forum in YEARS will have terrible scores due to forum platform changes.
  • This metric is only available on full screen viewing, mobile users will not see it.

Is copywriting lucrative how can i learn it

Low value posts like this just earned you moderation.

Going forward, any thing you post will need to be approved by a moderator. Based on your post history, this means likely nothing you post will make it to the live forum unless your post behavior changes.

You're welcome to stick around to read and learn, or better, learn to ask better questions.

If you are a teenager please understand this is a forum for adults who are dealing with some real problems, real goals, and real hardships. Time is important and sifting thru empty posts like the one quoted doesn’t help broader users.

The metrics and reaction points have changed again.

After much consideration, I've determined that having a negative reaction (-1, the UGH) is a detriment to the forum creating discord, strife, and contentiousness. The negative UGH has been replaced with the POO icon, which is just neutral. Anyone can use this to show disagreement and it is more of a "fun loving" reaction.

A laugh, HaHa, reverts back +1.

If you think any THREAD or POST is worth GOLD, hit that GOLD button.

This is a +3 point.

Here is the new scale.

I am still trying to learn how to become fastlane I was being sincere when I ask if copywriting is lucrative and also how can I learn it, how come it is a low value post? Isn’t the point of this forum to discuss how to make money and how to do it? I’m sorry if its low value because I am still a beginner and beginners need to learn before they can provide value, for now I’ll be the one taking the value, but I am unapologetic for being as Jung says the fool who is a precursor to the master. I know I am a fool but i didnt mean low value

Also my name on online has always been droopynips, i just used my normal online handle without much afterthought…

There's a metric at the forum we're going to start looking at again, sort of as a forum currency.

It's your post to like ratio.

For newbies, the ratio is going to be very low. You'll have more posts than likes until you start dropping posts that are interesting.

If you've been here a year, you should see that ratio inverse. You should have more likes than posts. Minimum would be 1:1.

For example, Mr. Nips here has been around for 18 months+, with a negative ratio of likes to posts. Almost double the post count to like count. You're adding noise to the forum.

MJ is at a 4:1 ratio (4 likes for every 1 post). KAK is right there with you. MJs would be higher if he wasn't the one having to deal with the dipshits all the time. @Andy Black is in this grouping. @AllenCrawley is in this group.

Antifragile 3:1. Bizy is right there with you. @Kung Fu Steve is here.

If you're here a year and you can't hit a 1:1 ratio something's wrong with your posts.

F*cking @Lex DeVille is killing it at 5.5:1. PAY ATTENTION TO HIS POSTS.
@Fox is right there with Lex. You should be following him. @biophase is in this group. @SteveO is chasing this group.

If you are messaging or chatting with people that have been here longer than a year and have a negative post ratio (more posts than likes) you know what you got.

Look at the post ratios as sort of a currency of value added to the forum. Post numbers don't matter nearly as much as percentages. And seriously, if you've been here for years and you can't hit a 1:1 you need to speak less and read more.

I just want to put a word out there for people reading this.

Don't get addicted to likes. Don't turn this forum into social media.

If you have something to say, and you think it will contribute to the conversation, go ahead.

If your posting is good, the numbers will bear it out over time.

BUT

There are many underappreciated posters on this forum. They might have a hundred score. But they're bringing value in their progress threads. It's just that no one's reading their progress threads. Keep posting, business warriors.

So the metric is a good one. But it isn't perfect. Don't get addicted to it.

@MJ DeMarco I finished.

I tried working with 32 x 32 but all the quality is lost. I've used 128 x 128, and I think that the browser will do the job of reducing the scale without destroying all quality.

And you were right about the image's intricacy. It has to be a very abstract icon, otherwise it becomes unintelligible at a smaller scale.

Let me know what you think:

1. Does the metric reward people who ask the humble almost inconsequential questions which somehow inevitably spur the older more experienced members of the forum to reply with generous wisdom?

2. Of course Lex has a high score. He’s the embodiment of Marquis de Sade John Wick on the forum.

3. Of course Johnny Boy has a high score. He’s Stifler. We can’t help ourselves, the dude is a giant flaming a**hole funny af.

4. It’s late here, somebody do me a favor and tell me my score. My iPhone is old and I’m sentimental. Landscape is wonky.

5. Competitive people can’t resist a scoring system. It’s practically full proof. I can only see one flaw in the Matrix.

6. Are all funny people equally helpful?

7. I miss y’all but my value is not connected with making money right now. My job is in supporting and respecting and loving the person who does. Still.. Lex’s thread is like a siren song luring me in.. “Try me. Try me. You can make tons of money by selling stuff.”

8. Tempted to discuss Ayn Rand again, but I won’t.

9. Keto and jiu jitsu are life changing. Try them. You won’t be disappointed unless you have a neck injury. Then you’ll be dead.

10. I know you know what I’m doing. I know that you know that I know you’re gonna smash that button anyway. Kisses!

Interesting comments on a system that closely resembles business and real life.

Business:
You introduce and sell a product in the market.
The market likes it.
The market loves it.
The market thanks you.
The market gives you feedback.
The market ignores it.
The market hates it.

Forum:
You post a new comment on the forum.
The forum likes it.
The forum loves it.
The forum thanks you.
The forum gives you feedback.
The forum ignores it.
The forum hates it.

Fact: Posting on the forum (and getting 'reactions') is a microcosm of real life as an entrepreneur.

Please don't overreact to a system that might too closely reflect the real life experience you'll face as an entrepreneur dealing with a public market. If this system bothers you, you will be bothered by the very essence of entrepreneurship.

The new User Power metric here at the forum is compliments of ChatGPT. If anyone says this TECH isn't a gamechanger, they're living under a rock.

A 100%+ power rating means that user has more LIKES than posts, and usually is an awesome indicator of the value that a user is contributing. FYI, is viewable on larger screens, mobile users it will not appear.

I've changed the verbiage from "Like/Post Ratio" to "Value/Post Ratio"

Like is too general, positive reactions indicate value and is more reflective of the forum's purpose.

I might actually change it from "User Power" to "Post Power" -- because that is what the metric is indicating, a post that more than likely, will demonstrate some power value.

I think it would lower my ratio.

There are certain activities that lower the ratio. Welcoming new members is one of them, so I hope it don't dissuade that activity.

If you notice my ratio isn't one the highest (as one might presume) and that's because I "welcome!" a lot of new members here, those posts are largely ignored by the community.

Just when we thought moderators couldn't get any more immature
Hey I like my man OMJ.

This dude is one of the real ones who goes on the little person progress threads and takes the time to lift them up.

You know, the kinds of progress threads that I linked to in the famous freelancer thread that so few of our "power users" even bothered to check out.

There is a whole ecosystem of little guys in this place. I don't think OMJ's number accurately reflect his contributions over time. He might not be starting epic, 100+ like type threads, but he does a some of the grunt work that can go unrecognized.

And he is funny, so his score got whacked in the last update.

Which is why I said the metric is good, it is an overall improvement, but it isn't perfect.

(Seriously, this dude once saw a member so despondent, he unliked the kid's posts and re-liked them all just to give the guy a little boost of encouragement. Come on. We need someone like that around here too.)

Isn’t the point of this forum to discuss how to make money and how to do it?

No, the name of the forum isn't "the make money forum" -- it is the Fastlane Forum which represents certain philosophies, philosophies you aren't posting about.

But yeah, the post-like ratio is something I always look at when reading something from a name I don‘t know yet.

I think I might be able to add that to everyone's postbit ...

Since we can do .5

The system doesn't allow for .5.

Also, many users use the "HaHa" reaction to disagree and laugh at posts in condescension. This has happened to me many times. So "haha" it isn't automatically a positive, it could mean, "you're take is a joke."

I think it would just be better and easier to bring back the rep banks.

I used to transfer people $100 if their post was really helpful to me. You earned $5 for every like.

I'd love to return to the the Rep Bank concept. The Rep bank was discontinued when the forum platform was upgraded because it was heavily customized, and it broke. I can look into returning it (in combination with the User Power) as several years have past since, so maybe there are newer, similar solutions. But I wouldn't count on it.

If we order those from high to low, we get Fox, Kak, MJ, Andy, Bizy, Myself.

...

So the order becomes: MJ (the KING haha!), Andy, Kak, Fox, Bizy, Myself.

@MJ DeMarco

Hey... let's not make any quick decisions around here guys. The current system seems just fine to me.

It's been 30 minutes and I already miss this feature. :(

As @Antifragile said now I feel confused when I react with "Laughing" because I know it does nothing.

I get why its been done, as many laughs could be in jest. But also getting a good laugh from someone is an art. While the double eye heart emoji is awesome, my two cents thinks the Thank You button is the ultimate reaction as basically saying helped with a problem or other sense of supreme gratitude toward the poster.

This is simple, we can just add a condescending emotion. I submit this one as a condescending “WTF.”

Yea, I have to take a deeper dive into this but it seems more mathematically accurate. There might be an issue as Xenforo template language likely won't accept a Square Root in the equation.
There’s a way to approximate square roots arithmetically called Heron‘s method. I had my robot assistant write it in xenforo template syntax:
Code:
{{! Define a function to calculate the square root using the Heron's method }}
{{ function sqrtHeron(number) }}
    {{ set initialGuess = 1 }}
    {{ set newGuess = (initialGuess + number / initialGuess) / 2 }}
    {{ set tolerance = 0.00001 }}
    {{ while (abs(newGuess - initialGuess) > tolerance) }}
        {{ set initialGuess = newGuess }}
        {{ set newGuess = (initialGuess + number / initialGuess) / 2 }}
    {{ end }}
    {{ return newGuess }}
{{ end }}

{{! Call the sqrtHeron function with a parameter of 850 }}
{{ set result = sqrtHeron(850) }}
{{ result }} {# Output the result of the calculation #}

There is actually a user that will be over 1000. The guy wasn't posting for all that long, and he had one thread that was epic. Knowledge bomb after knowledge bomb.

As long as we're being completely honest...

If you don't post a comment or reply to someone because you think it won't get a bunch of likes, you're just another a pu$$y on the forum.

You can choose to:
  1. Step up your game to get more likes
  2. Keep your mouth shut because you probably shouldn't contribute, or...
  3. DGAF ABOUT LIKES!!!
