• Loved hearing your background @eliquid.
• Agreed, starting a service business is one of the fastest way to start a business.
• And yeah, I manage my time and productivity mostly with a pen and Moleskine, and a bit of Google Calendar.
• Agreed that if everyone's talking about it then it's too late.
• And I also start with my sphere of influence, and also forums.
• Interesting discussion about where communities are going.
• My main takeaway: Don't listen too much to other people. Do you own thing, your own way.

My Own TakeAways from the interview were:

• Start with a side hustle
• Don’t believe in job security
• Build competence through creating, trial & error and “getting your feet wet”
• Stretch your comfort zone when you try to learn something
• Don’t believe in magic bullets
• Apps are overrated – Use pen & paper
• Checklists are useful for managers, not for creative work
• It takes at least ½ day to get any meaningful work done (coding, writing blog posts, etc.)
• Get to know your personality type
• If something is hot now, it’s already too late
• When building/testing a product: Start with your sphere of influence
• Once you get feedback/reviews turn to SEO, PPC etc.
• Most important SEO factor: Consistency

Don’t believe anything he said! Make your own decisions and listen to your gut.

Wow! I used SERPWoo everyday at my old job that focused a lot on ORM. It's crazy that the founder is on this forum. I love the visual aspect of SERPWoo.

I started my own SEO agency but I currently use SerpBook as it's simple and cheaper tbh. They also track top 100 so it's easier for reporting purposes. Maybe if I get an ORM client I'll start using SERPWoo again.
