Hey Fastlaners,

I'm after some advice on how to launch my online course.
So far my business has held events - this the first course.

Should I release the online course myself now?
or
Wait to 'launch it' via a marketing company in 3 months?

Marketing company will take a couple months because they cost $$$, but may get more people buying it? They will do a classier launch than I will.
Launching now means I can start selling it right away, but not sure if I can promote it very well myself.

The product is AWESOME. Have been working on it for more than 6 months. I'm very proud of it so don't want to let it go down the toilet now by not giving the launch the proper attention.

I know this decision is one I must make myself, taking into account MANY factors (eg, followers on social media, $$$, time, value etc etc) - however hearing from others will help me get to the base of how I am feeling.

I am usually one to just execute without thinking it through. Want this product to knock it out the park.

Thank you in advance.

Might be best to launch it yourself and let your course RUN its course! If its awesome, it'll spread by itself. Power of word of mouth, in this case, power of social media online marketing. My son has done it this way...
His known name is Derrick Struggle, owner and CEO of FBA Heroes and StruggleHQ.

Thank you!. That's terrific advice. My business already has a little traction (yes, little, but still some) without marketing dollars. I have a small 'tribe' already I could leverage better!

Ok great! If you have the capital already later on, then you might need marketing. But for now as a startup. Save your money and let you and your course be the marketer! Use your social media etc... as audience to take it to next level.

Do a cost roi analysis by calculating the numbers. How many sales do you expect to generate by launching yourself in 3 months. Next 3 months?

How many sales would the marketing company generate. Have they made any claims? Did you ask them?

Subtract the total expected revenue from the marketing company from their cost and make the same 3+3 month analysis with them.

See which numbers look better. Of course since you are doing this for the first time, all your numbers will be approximations. But better have approximate numbers then shooting in the dark.

To arrive at numbers, do a traffic v/s conversion rate analysis. How much traffic would you drive by paid sources and how much organic. What would be the conversion rate, 2%? 10%? 50%? If you can't know, do an analysis considering least conversion rate and a slightly higher conversion rate.

At the end of the exercise, you will have a better insight on which strategy is better. And all the best...:)

What do you mean by launch. Are you talking Jeff Walker style or evergreen?

If the latter and you have a small tribe then consider running a pre-launch just for them at a reduced price. Then you can get feedback on any areas you need to tweak, and garner positive reviews you can then use in your main launch going forward (a powerful marketing tool).

Also doing a pre-launch will mean you will have the funds sooner to hire your marketing company. Plus if there is an issue with the product (I'm sure you know your market and product so I'm not saying there is) you will learn this at the outset before spending serious money.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I've done a couple of 'tests' already and it's been great. I gathered feedback, tweaked and improved. Now I'm ready for the bigger launch. However, a pre-launch is a great idea, thank you. This does help financially and the Reviews/ Social proof is something I could better utilise. Cheers!
