I haven't looked around locally to see what I can get here (Phillipines) but I think the price and selection is best online or at the airport.

Last time I checked you could get actual Partagas there, which you can't really get in the US. I'd go with that.

I've only tried Alhambra Filipino Cigarillos (Final 3rd a slightly bitter) so I am far from an afficionado.

I'm interested to get into Cigars as I found the smoking experience very relaxing.

I used to buy those that were in tubes (something like the ones on the pic) back in college. Try looking at shops in Glorietta.

Man, that was a long time ago. I guess i'll go get some soon and say "WELCOME TO EARTH" once again. It's gonna be my celebration gesture. Haha

I love cigars. I typically have Liga Privada #9 fired up with a glass of Glenlivet. If not, maybe a Padron1926 or My Father. Way too many choices out there. Glad we share a commonality.

Good man! I have the 1926 and the 1964 anniverserie aging right now.... Good taste my friend.

MJ you need a care package assembled by the cigar lovers on this forum. Unsure if the swisher sweets comment was joking or serious, but to even joke about SS means you are in great need of some guidance :p

You know, as much as I like "good" cigars, I do quite enjoy grabbing a pack of Backwoods Sweet Aromatic at times.

It's a different experience than a "proper" cigar for sure, but one I highly enjoy from time to time :)

Sad thing is that since Swisher bought Drew the quality of the legendary Feral Flying Pig has suffered.

Travesty.

BTW, I LOVED the cigar I had yesterday, and the chance to spend 20 minutes chatting with @Scot

That being said, the lasting after effects of cigar smoke in your mouth is gross.

Brushing my teeth a few times plus a little mouth wash was enough to buy me 24 hours until the residual was gone.

The cigar was awesome, hand rolled locally and would match up against any brands 4-5-6x as much.

However, if there was one reason I would never load up the humidor @Kak gave me, it's because I like my breath to be minty fresh.

This is why the majority of the smoking I do is when the wife is out of town. I still haven't found a way to freshen up after a cigar. Tips greatly appreciated.

It was good seeing you too @Vigilante. I'm bringing those Robusto's with me to share with family up in NY this weekend.

So great. So mild. Long burn. Sweet spot. Long leafs though so the ash tends to get a little long.

It's all about the investment. A good cigar can spark the mind to action. I come off cigars highly motivated and with a clear head. No burning of money there! For $6 you can achieve greater results than many $500+ seminars ;)

Your subjective opinion. This is not objective. The after effect you define as "gross", I define as "immensely pleasurable". Maybe it's time to change your mindset. To achieve greatness one must first achieve cigar nirvana.

Besides the obvious "I love my wife" part, when you have a wife removes testicles from living things for a living, this is not an option.

I'm with you on that one, I love the act of smoking a cigar but hate EVERYTHING to do with it after I'm done.
After I'm finished I want it out of my breath and off my fingers (which actually bothers me more than my breath for some weird reason).

This is one of the reasons I refuse to smoke indoors even when given the opportunity - it lingers unpleasantly well after I want to be through with the experience.

We need to hear from @Chitown -- I want to hear a true story!
@MJ DeMarco

True Story...

The first time I ever smoked a stick that stayed in my memory bank was about 10 years ago. I was hanging out at The Beverly Hills Hotel - back when you could smoke on the damn patio, but I digress - with a friend who was not doing well. I invited him out for the night to cheer him up and we just chilled at the hotel, smoking and drinking.

I had a Partagas 160. Hot damn! I pulled a drag off that bad boy and almost peed my pants. I remember thinking, "WTF? Is this what I've been missing?" I enjoyed it with a nice full California cabernet, which I don't remember. But I remember that cigar. Damn good smoke. I also like the Rocky Patel Sun Grown, Padron Serie 1926 maduro - the '64 is a little too bitter on the finish for my taste.

I recently had a Cuban smoke, Behike. Mmmmaaannn, I'm trying to tell you! Another great smoke. I like to pair full bodied cigars with commensurate libations. Favorite libations: Scotch: Lagavulin. Bourbon: Maker's, Booker's or Blanton's. Wine: Joseph Phelps, Insignia,

A man. I do manly things. Maintaining proper oral hygiene is easy even for cigar smokers. That's like saying, you don't work out because you get all sweaty.

We sound like we could possibly be best friends. Blanton's and a Padron 1924. Mmmm tasty.

You can't smoke anywhere in public now. ESPECIALLY in California. Man, when we lived in Laguna Beach I loved walking along the main beach boardwalk with a stogie. But the glares from the public were too much to handle. At least where I live now in Virginia isn't quite so backwards when it comes to smoking in an open air environment.

That's probably the only thing I love about Vegas. The ultimate no judgement zone for cigar smokers.

I do it once or twice a month.

I moved over to smoking a pipe now ( corn cob, not crack ), but I actually miss the cigars now.

I generally bought a mix of :
  • Rocky Patel
  • Punch
  • Padron
  • Macanudo
  • Ashton
  • Brickhouse
Always stuck with churchill or torpedo mostly with a light wrapper the majority of the time if I could get it. Although I would hit a dark one from time to time.

Those plus some coffee really got the colon flexing and working....

@cutthroughstatic,

Yes, sir! I'll tell you what I had a few nights nights ago...Liga Privada #09. I like it better than the Padron '26...and I love the '26! Full-bodied, smooth and coffee-like flavor on the finish.

I got into a vicious argument with my landlord over repairs he refuses to properly address. [This will be my last apartment. Buying a house next year.] Later that evening, I needed to cool off and had a Liga at Hollywood Smoke located in Santa Monica, CA. Great vibe, interesting people and wonderful stick selection. It put me in a tranquil frame of mind. I should've brought some Bourbon with me.

I love Laguna Beach! A late friend of mine, Randy [I really miss him.], used to live in Corona. My enjoyment of cigars stems from his generous sharing of his stash. He was a fellow chauffeur who would call me up, after discharging a passenger, and ask if I wanted to have a smoke. If I was available I always joined him. In fact, we'd meet at Hi-Time Cellars in Costa Mesa and help ourselves to their great selection of cigars.

Those were some great times.

I've never had Drew Estate but concur on all fronts about Tatuaje. Delicious smoke. Had to chuckle when told "tatuaje" is tattoo in Spanish.

but to even joke about SS means you are in great need of some guidance

Question...

If I try a cigar that is time honored, revered, and god-awfully expensive, and I STILL don't like it, do I still need guidance?

Not being facetious, legit question.

I only like Swishers because they're sweet and fast. We all know they aren't really cigars, more like something to do.

Seriously, when will you be in Scottsdale/Phoenix area again. We should just plan something.

I'm there!
