The first book is The Prince by Machiavelli.

If anything, I'd call it a book that shines light on a screwed up world.

Machiavelli describes the patterns of power. You can strive to implement them, or you can use the book to discover these patterns in the world all around you.

Yes dude, but how has The Prince influenced evil people on downthe centuries is the really interesting question. The next book in Ten Books that he discusses is Descartes Discourse on Method. This is fascinating stuff.

Currently I'm listening to 12 Rules for Life by Dr. Jordan B Peterson and it's been eye opening. Currently I'm on the rule about Tell the Truth, or At Least Don't Lie and it goes into a lot of detail about the lies we tell ourselves. I also really enjoyed Mel Robbin's books. Many other wonderful ones have been mentioned so I don't want to be repetitive.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas has always been a favorite of mine. Classic revenge tale of a man wrongly accused, imprisoned and tortured, escapes and acquires a fortune to exact revenge on those who wronged him.

It's an extremely long book reaching over 1000 pages.

Thank you for the suggestions! The first book is exactly what I was looking for, however the ideas in the book are old. Do you have any recommendations for a more modern book? I am looking forward to your reply!

FYI, I've merged the other thread and this one. Right now this is where we will draw BOOK 3's discussion. Book 2 is voting now (in this thread) -- that ends next Monday.

I just finished the audiobook and it's AMAZING! He's one tough guy. He has a great mindset that plenty of people can learn from and apply to their every day lives, including business. What's great about the audiobook is that it features parts where David and the narrator talk about specific moments and elaborate even more on the situation. I recommend this book 100% :)

I've read the Go Giver before.

Here it is in six lines.

To be successful you need to be a 'go giver' and not a 'go getter.' Follow these laws and you'll find success:
  1. The Law of Value: Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.
  2. The Law of Compensation: Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.
  3. The Law of Influence: Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests first.
  4. The Law of Authenticity: The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.
  5. The Law of Receptivity: The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.
It's a good book. You can read it in under two hours. Very popular by Amway multi level marketers.

I'm planning to re-read it soon so it would be cool to discuss it on the forum. It's one of my personal top 3 business books. It's actually very similar to the Millionaire Fastlane in some aspects.

Hey @MJ DeMarco I Have a suggestion for a Book Club book... Atlas Shrugged:

I call those who are very good at wealth creation "Prime Movers," borrowing a term used by Ayn Rand in The Fountainhead to characterize great creators, and also used by Aristotle in a different context.
My fascination with prime movers was first kindled by Ayn Rand's epic novel Atlas Shrugged (rated in a Library of Congress survey to be second only to the Bible in its influence on people's lives), in which she
showed businessmen to be heroic and moral achievers without whom the whole world would collapse into stagnation and poverty.
