I am loving this thread! I am about to get back into the website building saddle to get an income to tide me over until my membership website is up and running, and this information is pure gold.

@Fox when you bring in salesmen, how do they go about selling?

From what I understood you first analyze a website and create sort of a detailed report on how they could improve.

But when you bring in a salesman, who presumably doesn't know much about it, what do you do then?

Do you train them on how to find websites in need of revamp?
Read through this entire thread, AMAZING information in here. I just bought the UDEMY course and hope to have it finished by next week. I already contacted a family member and got them to agree to have their website redesigned, so that's my first project right there. Thank you very much to Fox and Andy for sharing such useful information!

In an effort to provide some value, to those who still need to buy the UDEMY course you can use code "JAN2202" to get 95% off, which means the course is only $10.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok i've read a couple pages of this thread and i think it's amazing. I actually have been trying to code websites for a while but i really don't seem to get myself making websites. Idk i just suck i think at creating websites. In the other hand i'm creative. I like to describe peoples products. If anyone is the complete opposite of me please for the love of God lets partner up. Lets grow together. As we progress we can help each other. Teach me why i can't seem to make a wb alone. Let me teach you some techniques. Are you afraid to make calls? Don't know Copy Writing? My fear of calling businesses is slowly fading away. I enjoy writing Copy. If you're hungry for action like i am. Please Pm me. We can brainstorm over Skype or FaceTime and talk about how we both can benefit by helping people in need by making them Amazing websites that sale!

Reading a lot of these people posting here wondering why they aren't getting sales, cold calls not working, emails not working, and whinging that they just want a sale of a few thousand dollars and that the potential client should update their website to a responsive website!

Not knocking on anyone in particular but just because you can develop a nice looking website after doing a few courses doesn't mean you should be charging that sort of money for something you don't even know will work!

I was self employed in the construction niche. These are the questions I would ask if somebody wanted to build my website, or "rank me number 1 in google in my city for $800 one off payment"

Have you made a new website that you have ranked high with SEO and analytics to prove it? What websites?
Have you re-built an existing website that has increased SEO position if so what were the ranking changes? What websites?
What websites have you built so I can google them and see if they rank?
Have you run ads, organised backlinks, advertised on blogs, social media, run traffic at sites and split tested the conversions?

Usually web designers do just that....design a website... I don't mean to be rude here, but if you are new and asking somebody for 3k to make them an online brochure about their business that you have no idea generates leads then I think it is a small scam. Unless you know and have tested your theory and have generated more leads and conversion then by all means charge what you feel like, if a website you created, added 5k in a persons pocket each month then the next time you pitch somebody in that niche you can say with conviction and confidence that you generated 5k a month in work for Mr XYZ in the same niche and know you can do the same. Then you can pitch knowing you are actually going to help somebody instead of just winging it and leaving them with a website that does nothing.

People read a book on "value pricing" and suddenly think everything they do is 1k minimum. That isn't how it works.

There is enough information in this thread to know when it is right to price high and when to still just be happy that you are getting paid something to learn.

When I start my video thread this is definitely something I will cover.

My second best people are copy guys.

I pay straight commission and all they have to give me is warm leads. Straight commission quickly sorts out who is serious and who is kicking tires.

I still love this thread. But it comes off as too easy so it's gonna attract tire kickers and people who want the exact steps.

Part of what I love about this thread is that it teaches self reliance.

It's not about learning to code: it's about relying on one's own abilities to sell and deliver.

The secret sauce with anything is in finding the customers with the demand you can fill. That's working backwards, though: you want to look for demand and figure out how to fill them. If you don't want to do websites because you're the 10,000th website person in your city, that's fine: you can still use this thread to get started.

@Fox outlined a way to find demands for this particular hustle. He outlined a way to open, sell, and close. He outlined a way to deliver on your promise. But it's for websites. It's for this hustle. You don't have to do this if you feel you can serve some other demand better.

But in general...

If you can find demands, convince a person to trust you, then fulfill your promise... you'll never be without.

If you can do this on a large scale... you'll be rich.

If you can systematize it on a large scale and turn it into an asset... you'll be FREE.

Baby steps.

The-J came through again. At first I thought about adding websites as a part of the services I already offered since I had some understanding of code, but this thread combined with the book and some of my own bumps on the road tells me I need to look at clients and see what that they are missing. For example I was doing work for a bus company and I found the booking system they used was outdated, and the person who makes it is making $$$$ cause others have refused to move to the arena. I called a few other places for grins and found the same thing. There is a need right there, it just needs to be updated(using txt messages and GPS features like uber). Its always money to be made if our eyes are open.

BTW I gave that one above away cause I dont' have the time to work on it.

I have to give a shout out to @Jon L who helped me out on this deal and did an awesome job on the phone for me.

As for the other 3, One just emailed me back tonight with a price and is ready to close. I responded with a slight price increase and see how he reacts. As for the other one I know we are on the brink of closing with a solid 4 figure deal and i have a "caller" that will be calling for me tomorrow to close it. The third one has been quiet for some time now, I think they're just busy at the moment but they expressed real interest.

Keep working, keep doing, Its possible... I started with NOTHING less than 6 months ago. I built skills in so many areas and now I have a real opportunity to have a legitimate business.

Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing @jpanarra.

Something you haven't realised yet is that you didn't start from nothing. 6 months ago you had a background as a chemist. You have ADDED to that background and made your high ground even higher.

Well done and onwards and upwards.
