Mind you, I explain how we work and how Google Ads works by telling stories of what happened with previous clients, and my LinkedIn profile lists who I've worked with. I presume some people who might want to see a portfolio have all their questions answered that way. If anyone does ask for a portfolio now then it's a bit of a red flag.

Oh, and if they're too precious about the look of their website I sometimes ask "Do you want a pretty website, or a pretty bank account?"

(more to it then this but..)

The investment is $2500 for example and we take 50% up front and 50% only when your happy with the website to go live.

Does that sound like a plan? Yeap, cool im going to fire over an invoice for everything we just discussed, flick me a receipt or I have credit card option to pay, then we get the show on the road and I'll advise next steps and we aim to get this done in 14 days so I can schedule you in as a priority.

Look forward to working together .... and so on.

Proposal your leaving them to think about it and to be honest your not a massive marketing agency so while it might feel cool in the beggining to send proposals will cause stalls to happen on your sales 😀

Hey Mark,

How do you deal with prospects that have said they will pay the invoice, in terms of initial deposit, to get started but it's been a few days. The general tone of the prospect is that they were warm and did need help. I don't want to be too pushy but I still want to make that sale, if that makes sense.

Then I don't feel like an idiot following up as I set the expectation of what was next.

I try to not be like where is the money, so with lawyer saw an opportunity to tag her on a refferal like hey can you help this person, just to jog their memory.

Or i'll just be upfront like hey just seeing if you had any other questions as got the team ready to start your project as we just finished up another so ready to go and want to make you a priority first. And attach the invoice again as heck save them digging around for it.

Hope that helps some others might chip in

If they did then leave it a few more days. If they didn't then maybe call them up.

Personally, I may or may not bother following up after that. They either want to start or they don't. Some come back a few weeks later as they were busy, like @markspray said above.
