I haven’t linked to anything in a tweet. A common strategy seems to be to reply to a tweet that has engagement with another tweet that links out.

My goal is to get people to click the link in my bio. I’m just setting that up at the mo.

I started running Twitter Ads a few days ago. Just €5-10/day. Super interesting.

Looks great Andy, following! I like the idea of expanding your services beyond Google Ads. Google Ads are just a tool - that’s not what people fundamentally want -> they want growth and sales!
Agreed. People want leads and sales. Some already run Google Ads so they might be interested in following. Current profile doesn’t mention it though:

Thanks @diegorueda. Lol, I think I'm growing very slowly tbh. More generic "Money Twitter" accounts can grow faster. It's ok, it's not about the numbers for me. It's about figuring out the process so I can replicate it again and again.

I've bought quite a few Twitter growth guides. They're cheap enough on Gumroad, and very good. Interestingly, none of them talk about using ads to grow an account.

That could be a great opportunity for teaching if it works!

I've seen other people growing their Youtube channel from Instagram ads (cross-platform), so something like that could work too. One of them is NelsonQuest (who actually brags of "not selling anything")

Who'd have thought you could have so much fun spending so little?

Cool! it's really cheap!

I've stumbled on an opportunity to buy an account with 58.2k followers. It's a friend in his 20s who just uses his account for shit posts like "I'm drunk", and get all those followers from a time when he was a Youtuber promoting raffles. He has no engagement.

I've checked the followers and analyzed the account, and 80% of the followers are inactive and the rest of them have 50 followers on average. Mostly broke young people.

But my hypothesis is that rebranding that account to useful content, with good copy, could drive a lot of traffic and new followers thanks to the social proof of having +50k followers.

Do you think that it would be worth it?

(I was thinking of paying 0,01€ for follower, but looking at your costs with the ads, maybe that's a better strategy :D

Interesting. €580 for a 58k account, but with low engagement.

I wonder if you could make the followers more engaged.

Personally, I’d rather grow an account from scratch to learn how to do it. Then I’d have two assets: an account of X size, and the knowledge of how to grow an account to X size.

How much would you learn spending €580 in ads, starting even at €2.50/day and scaling up?

Good point. And the audience that you create will be more focused and of more quality, so I'll discard the idea.

Thanks!

It won’t necessarily be more focused and more quality. Buying that account could kickstart you. I just gave my personal preference and my reasoning.

Me neither, cheap aswell, gonna look into this
Bear in mind I’m targeting world wide (WW) at the moment. I want higher volume for my low testing budget while I learn.

I’m also running Tier1 campaigns (US, CA, UK, IE, AU, NZ) where I’m bidding more and want to confirm learnings I get from the WW campaign.

Interesting stats for yesterday.
My Google Ads threads/tweets are bringing in most of my new followers.

You did it great IMO!

If you look for books, scriptwriting books could be better than short stories since the constraints are harder (extra words could translate into production costs).

Check Bourne's Identity screenplay to read something fast-paced and to the point.

With screenplays, you also learn how to write visually (although it lacks other senses like smell).

I've been passively trying to grow my Twitter account as well (which sends people to my newsletter, etc.).

Half the time I just want to delete the whole thing and block the site.

There are some good accounts that post valuable stuff.

But 95 % of them just copy-paste vague entrepreneurship quotes that no one can really disagree with.

Anyway. Happy to follow along as you conquer the platform. :)

Mute accounts that post fortune cookie platitudes. Eventually your timeline will be enjoyable again.

I don't feel like I'm conquering anything at the moment. My ads have slowly stopped showing. I'll have a think about that. It could be time to create cards and more engaging ads.

Have you posted the story of how you got started with Google ads? I feel like that one could work great on Twitter.

Everyone likes a good story and that one is a GREAT story.

Also, yeah. I should start muting people.

Here's a recommendation.

I'm someone who doesn't do well with numbers, data, or any form of analytics.
To my understanding those are critical components of advertising campaigns.

I have not yet invested in any form of ad campaigns, but soon plan to.
Maybe a tweet thread catered to people who fit into the same category I do: unfamiliar and who already have a negative connotation on running campaigns, but need reassurance.

Perhaps you already have a thread like that, but just my suggestion.

I did load that story up as a thread, and I can see it's brought 23 followers by putting ad spend behind it. I find that interesting because it doesn't have many Likes, Retweets, etc.

I'm not sure Twitter is suited for longer threads like that.

Here's that story specifically:

View: https://twitter.com/AndyBlackJnr/status/1369803841600950278?s=20

I created a master thread of threads and linked that one under it. Again, I think I might have overdone it a bit for Twitter, but it helps me find my own threads!

Here's that master thread:

That's a good reminder to me that not everyone thinks the same way.

Curious what you think of this thread:

@Andy Black

The thread and standalone tweet is good for someone like me, but only as motivation and as a general introduction to the world of ads.

However what is missing for audiences that I belong to, are more of a thorough breakdown of some of your posts. Actual instructions, because phrases such as "put ad spend behind" make sense from afar, but if I were to make a google ads account for the first time or twitter ads, I'd have no clue how to go about that.

Like you've said before "tell people what to do"

Then again perhaps we'd be encroaching into your paid services.

hope that helped
