What is the best way to validate a business idea? Is there a best way? Is it all trial and error?
Are all ideas worth validating? Whats different between offline and online businesses when it comes to idea validation?
These are some of the questions I`ll attempt to answer with this thread.
Here I`ll detail my attempts at idea validation in the form of actions I`m taking and a description of the feedback I`m getting. I`m sure that during the process I`ll learn new things, make new connections and gain a new perspective.
I`m doing this publicly to be critiqued and maybe help someone in the future.
Feel free to join in with me, posting your own idea validation attempts and maybe we can create a sort of guide.
Also I will appreciate any advice, story, experience or book recommendation you might have on the topic of idea validation.
I`ve come to the conclusion, through faillure, that a multi stage idea validation should precede any earnest attempt at building a business.
With my current knowledge and understanding, the way I imagine idea validation should work is by doing a false marketing campaign of sorts. This means trying to get a sale/subscription/info from people for something that doesnt exist yet and figuring out where the clients of this non-existent business are.
After that, a proper value proposition can be formulated and from it a second stage validation can be done to confirm a need.
If at some point I do come across a legit market need, idea validation attempts will be paused until I`ve explored the opportunity.
Lets start!
