I'll be honest I read the Fastlane millionaire book a few months ago, looked a few posts on the forum then completely forgot about it.

Then today I thought to myself, do I really need to be working for someone to make a living. Parents taught me growing up (29 years old now) that you have to have a job to have a life, this was obviously engrained in me.

Working in the UK in estate agency for the last 5 years, markets about to crash so let's do my own thing.

I've worked on my own thing outside of the 'day job' taking a night course in web design and designing websites (only using wordpress) for the last 5 years- but it's trading time for money again.

Listening to podcasts people start businesses on nothing but a whim, so why can't I. So this is why I'm here to see how other people do it.

I know deep down I'm looking for permission to go do it for myself and lead a life where I don't have to have a J.O.B, it's myself who's holding me back - as cliche as that may sound, but here to make a change.

To have a go at businesses, to fail and learn from each one, looking for inspiration from successful people on here.

If anyone wants to criticise me or this post then please I want you too, it will help me get off my arse (from the UK so it's arse for me, not a$$) and do something before I regret working for someone else for the rest of my life.

Welcome mate.

Why do you feel you need permission to start something on your own? That sounds like an employee mentality.

If you have an idea which will add value to people then run with it. If you have no ideas, then just do anything because you will still learn and get the mentality driven into you.

I too am from the UK, so I will translate this into our language.

*cough*

Get off your bloody arse and get a move on.

No need for criticising. You either do it or don't.

If you don't have a strong meaning or purpose behind your drive, then it will be a waste of time. "I don't like my job" and "I could do better" typically is not a strong purpose to drive habitual action. What happens then is you "try" something and on the first failure, it's over. That's not how it works.

Jobs are comfortable, starting a business typically is not.

Anyhow, welcome to the forum! Hopefully it can be helpful.

Since you have experience in Real Estate... and Wordpress... and know about the market that's about to come down... I'd say you could wip up a decent site pretty fast... and possibly establish yourself as an expert quickly... and go from there! Barely any investment needed! But you truly need to figure out what you want to really go for it like @MJ DeMarco mentioned! And don't be too hard on yourself... the Job mentality has such a strong frame attached to it that it's hard to switch over to team Producer! I'm currently going through it... and we've got members who joined as far back as 2015 still going through it! The Red Pill ain't got nothing on the PP (Producer Pill)!

You don't need to, but for most people in the world, that's the best option. It may or may not be the best option for you, so now's a great chance to find out.

Best of luck to you!

It does sound like an employee mentality, but I’ve always wanted to add value with my ideas - this needs to be the centre of my purpose.

Heard loud and clear!!

Thanks for the advice

Thanks MJ, after racking my brains as to why I can’t take that leap I now realise it’s not down to the job or the idea I want to pursue it’s the underlying purpose- without our that it’s pointless.

As you said If the purpose isn’t strong enough then I will most probably fall at the first hurdle.

Given me a drive to find my purpose and set my foundations before even thinking about working on my ideas

Working in the UK in estate agency for the last 5 years, markets about to crash so let's do my own thing.

Can you start your own Letting Agency?

There is no shortage of people renting and never will be in your lifetime.

Net migration is +250,000 a year and won't really come down much. (They primarily rent)

Moreover schools are chock a block due to a mini baby boom 5 - 10 years ago; so in 5 - 10 years time they will all be leaving Education system and can't afford to purchase.(They primarily rent if not stay at home)

Letting Agents all use the same outdated model and fee structure.

Ask 10 people what they don't like and I would think they would talk about 'rip off fees'

Anyway, just a thought for you to mull over.
