In general, punch. I like the V cut sometime (not sure if the name is correct).

I'm from Miami, there is a lot of small hand rolled cigar factories. I've spoken to one owner in Little Havana (town in Miami) and he mostly ships up north to Jersey and NY.

I usually smoke local hand rolled, not brands.

That’s me too. I live in Tampa nicknamed Cigar City. I only smoke local hand rolled.

Recently switched from cigars to this bad boy. Once I develop the strength of character, switching to a MacArthur pipe.

My 19-year old step son enjoys smoking a pipe. I have to admit when we're on the patio smoking (I smoke cheap cigars) I can't but help to admire the smell, oddly reminds me of being a kid again watching a baseball game at the old Commiskey Park, Southside of Chicago.

I might have to give it a whirl.

Start with a corn cob, they break in easy and you won't feel bad throwing it in the trash if you don't like it. Filters are also a good idea to keep embers out of ones mouth.

Try orlick golden like in the photo or Ashton rainy day

I find it a bit more harsh and more of a pain in the a$$. I’ve had a few pipes over the years and have gone through streaks of smoking them but never really developed into a enjoyable pass time. I still own a couple of nice pipes though. I was particularly fond of the black cherry Cavendish tobacco.

I suppose it depends on the type of pipe. The couple I have tried from a friend were super mellow. One was a really long Gandalf style pipe and the other was more of a Sherlock pipe, with a double bend. By the time the smoke got to you, it was cooled down and mellow.

After not smoking cigars for a long time, I passed by a store today and asked the guy to give me a few of his cheaper sticks for me to try. It's Monday, I'm waiting on people to get back to me... time to light this guy up. Alec Bradley Mira Flor Rosado.

Since my last post in this thread I've probably tried 45 different cigars and am really starting to learn what I like.

My go to favorite is the H. Upmman Robusto by AJ Fernandez. They fairly strong and spicy. i just bought box of 20 for my humidor locker at my club.

I spent the the summer trying a lot of different cuts on a lot of different kinds of cigars and my current preference is a V-Cut using a table top cutter. I really like a punch too, but I've found that some cigars a punch just won't work on. The one I mentioned above. I've tried on 10 of them without a successful punch.

I joined my cigar lounge club room. It's two miles from my place and is really nice. The best part is the cost. It's $250 per month on the first, but you get $250 in store credit that can be used for cigars, accessories, anything from the bar, including tips. As a member you got a humidor locker and 20% off of cigar purchases.

I became a member for a few reasons.

1. Networking. I'm meeting a lot new people in a wide variety of professions. Programmers, Lawyers, Enterprise Sales People and my favorite... A retired engineer who is now a Santa Claus that travels and appears at large corporate events.

2. I go about about twice a week on average and have 1-2 cigars and 1-2 bourbons to relax/think. My average tab is $38 or $304 per month and before I didn't have a locker, discounts, or access to the members only lounge.

3. Finally. I enjoy it a great deal. I've spent so much of my slow lane life sacrificing and saying I can't afford something instead of figuring out how to afford it like I do today.

I still remember my best cigar being a Trinidad Robusto in cambodia . In the states, a torpedo white series Monte Cristo does the job for me. I did put on some weight drinking it with rum & coke . my choice of drink.

Smoked one of these sitting with some great friends at Freedom Square
(Plaza de la Revolucion), Havana, Cuba two years ago.

One of the best.

It wasn't the cigar alone, that made it memorable, but what comes with the cigar....

To enjoy the taste of great friendship, the sights and sounds, a '57 Chevy rolling by, and realizing that life is good...

Heading to Cuba for the first time in my life in September.

The Churchill 2019 Limited Edition Robusto box came with that Davidoff 50th Anniversary set (decanter/ashtray/shot glasses)

The Churchill box itself contains a built in humidor with a tray for Boveda pack and included a 67% Boveda. Interesting. My cigar shop told me to put it in a ziplock anyway just in case.

I usually don't give out my sources, but f--- it... i <3 you guys.

La Casa Del Tabaco: World's Best Selling Shop of Premium Cigars

Cigars from Cuba, Nicaragua, DR, CR, Honduras.. whatever. Just order them and they plop them at your door.

Screen Shot 2019-03-31 at 11.16.28 AM.png

The problem with buying locally in the US is the Cuba thing. Like Cohiba is my favorite cigar so I'm basically assed-out locally. I mean there are some great other cigars (Fuente, Padron, Oliva) but you're still limited. In terms of anything from Cuba.. The owner might pull out a Behike from the back, slip it to you under to the table and tell you not to tell anyone.. but it will be like a once a year and they act like they're passing you King Arthurs mystical sword. I can't deal with that BS. I just order them.

Also Cigar Inspector is great for finding new ones (sort them by rating)

Cuba?
That's cool.
I'd love to own some property down there.

A quick getaway, light up a Cohiba, playin' some dominos, and eyein' a '57 Chevy rollin' by.

Undercrown Papas Fritas.
A quick one for a December in Chicago. Brrrrrrrrrr.
I think the Drew Estate/Undercrown guys are still going to events since they sold out to Swisher. Probably a contractual obligation. A really great Fastlane story if you ever get the chance to strike up a conversation.

I bought a box of FSG (Florida State Grown) as I really liked the sample I had, but several within the box ended up being wound too tight to un-smokable. I really hope they get their shit together as I would love to support local industry. The Tampa area used to be known as "Cigar City."

Hey aficionado. Don't miss this thread where today and tomorrow (or until they sell out) I am offering our 50 cigar humidor at 50% off for fastlane members only. Do you own a humidor? Post your humidor pictures here. I will post mine a bit later... I have two of the BCIC humidors that I bought from @Kak before I ultimately bought his company.
