Congrats on your Master's Degree. It sounds like you're using it well.I'll jump into this thread for the first time.
- I have 4 slow burn projects going on. I'm publishing highly targeted, specific blog posts on them. Two of them I'm publishing quarterly, one is weekly. Three of them are web design/dev agency-style offerings for specific niches, the other is unrelated (the weekly news publishing) but can't disclose further for now. I'd publish more, but the emphasis is on slow burn. Google Gemini 2.5 Pro Deep Research is great for this
- ^ for the above, just doing some cleanup via Semrush, technical SEO, accessibility, other stuff this week. pushed out 20 case studies from completed websites on the local agency site this week. going to request google reviews from some of the existing clients as I just setup GMB this weekend for the first time
- 40 hours for main client - lots to do here
- Just got a new website client for around $1200. Sending over some logistics/docs today (total time to complete should only be a couple of hours)
- Probably small work/updates for 5-10 smaller clients
- I finish my Master's program next Monday, final class + presentation
- I hired 3 interns this summer from my Master's program. I set them up on a 6 week micro internship program, paid $17/hour, 6 hours/week for 6 weeks. I think they learned a bit, but the overall value delivery was close to null. This falls on me, I set it up in little time and did not give it the attention it deserved. Huge time + energy drain. Little proactiveness on their part. Some of them want to continue, but I don't know what to do here. I'd offer them $50/mo for one actual delivery metric per month, but don't know if it's worth it. I will run this program again next summer and will hopefully be better in terms of output, effectiveness, etc. ideally I can set them up on the local agency site w/ local businesses
I use my degrees every day. BUT, I've never used them the way that the colleges/universities thought I would -- especially my JD from law school. I've used that knowledge in my business life rather than becoming a practicing attorney. I did RE consulting, litigation support, and I was an expert in the Courts for many years. That education has for sure taken me a long way, and kept me out of a lot of problems.
