Been doing IF for years now. Eating has been erratic especially during the pandemic.

My gym opened up finally and I went to workout yesterday. When I got on the scale my weight was the exact same

I believe that fasting for once in a week rejuvenates the body and increases its core strength. This fasting includes drinking boiled water up till in the evening and for the rest of days eating only till 7 in the evening. We have been doing this since long and it has really helped in gaining the extra strength and fitness.

I think skipping breakfast works pretty good, doing the hardest part of your day first thing in the morning is optimal imo.

I've dropped about 40 pounds lately from skipping some meals, def worth a try.

Also if you are travelling around whether it be buisness or free time activites, it's really convenient to just skip eating.

I've never done it but I want to know ppls results too! how are you feeling ?

Combo of IF and watching macros helped me lose 100lbs.

For the first few months just doing 16:8, I effortlessly lost 35lbs, it was great.
Switched to omad and it sort of worked, lost about another 30lbs but hovered there for a year or so.

During corona, said "fug it" and started prioritizing protein instead of fat and purchased a standing desk. Also got into supps like berberine and ALA.
I can see my abs for the first time in my life now, good feeling.
Switched back to 18:6 so I can eat two protein meals on workout days for better protein synthesis.
We'll see how this goes.

I sometimes pushed up to 24 and 48 hours to try. It's really interesting to push your comfort zone and learn to control yourself. However, pay attention to weight loss. I do a lot of sport and I have no weight to lose, and I must have lost between 1 and 2kg in 48 hours. For me, to do a little physical and mental cleansing, the best remains 16 to 24 hours. Then why not push it to 48 hours from time to time but be careful.

Is it for weight loss, change of body composition, to loose belly fat?

This way you can structure your fasting and eating window accordingly. The standard fast most people do is a 8:16 which is eat for 8 hours and fast for 16. Keep in mind that those 16 hours 8 of them will be while sleeping so its only really 8 hours.

Skipping breakfast helps, and if your a coffee drinker you'll have to go black no sugar or cream as this will break your fast otherwise.

The main thing you're doing is trying to control insulin spikes. Which is usually from consuming starchy carby foods and sugars.

Anywhoo im rambling. To answer your question start with DR Bergs videos on youtube. Not sure if he's been mentioned further up on this thread.

He is where I learned all this stuff. He breaks down a few different protocols and he's got multiple videos. His videos cover not only how to fast but what/how to eat during the feeding window.

He is a big proponent of following a Keto genic high fat, lower carb, no sugar diet and eating only 1-3 times during your fasting window. With no snacking.

This way you only get 3 insulin spikes rather than 6 or 7 every time you eat and with snacking through out the day. Also by consuming healthy fats instead of carbs/sugars you can fast longer as you don't crave food when consuming fats..

Cravings are just your body wanting more sugar essentially and starchy carbs.. which is also sugar.

Hopefully this helps and I didn't ramble.

Let me know if you have any questions. I am not sure if you can link youtube videos in the forum or not so I am not going to link to Dr Bergs stuff. As i'm still new.

Thanks

Yes, it definitely helps with mental clairty.

I pulled out my old diet plan which I bought in 2011 which actually worked quite well at the time. In 2023 it worked even better - the way it works - they take your blood sample(I do not want to name the company here) and you get actually a fully adjusted individual plan based on protein such es cheese, tofu, chicken etc and and vegetables plus a bit of fruits(only selected fruits such as apple) you need to eat 3 times a day pause 5 hours eat no later than 09:00 PM drink a lot of water (recommended for me was 4 Litre). The amount of food is really little but because of the 3 times it works .. and the kicker was going on the indoor bike directly after dinner take a shower and go to sleep - result was 30 kg's (66 pounds) in 15 weeks. You have to really feel the deficit between calories you eat and calories you burn as simple as that. Actually I felt like a newborn after 4 months. A friend of mine annoyed me so much I had to giver my plan and she also lost 22,5 kg (49 pounds) this year and receives compliments every day - however it is important to be able to focus for some time otherwise I think this does not work.

I have been doing it for 3-4 months (now I stopped it actually).

I have never felt worse in my life. Lack of mental capacity, I nearly fainted 4 times when I did agricultural hard working stuff (most days). Otherwise, I just feel dizzy and lack energy until 10 AM when I feel extreme hunger.

Since I got back at my breakfast, eating oats or eggs, I regained my energy and can work mentally and physically.

I always had low sugar levels, I rarely eat sweets. Also, I have 11-12-13% body fat, mostly ectomorphic.
