Hey guys done tons of research. None of these methods are fastlane but are faster to get money than a slow lane to build a start up

First I am now doing online arbitrage, but it's all about the hunt. Overall it is better than slow lane, but it's still trading time for money. So better approach is wholesale a product from China so I don't have to do the hunt anymore. I have researched many and all the products are saturated hard. So the only way to overcome this is to private label a generic Chinese good so I can increase margin. Meaning the only value added to the product is the brand. Not my cup of tea. This is like the business of having a generic t shirt from companies like Gildan and putting your graphic design on it. How do I get started on actually making a unique product instead of selling the same shit as everyone else

Have you looked for products that aren't sold in the USA (or your country) ? Find those, order a sample and test. Or start a conversation with friends, family, coworkers or anyone about problems and pain points, then research for an item that could solve those issues. Also, your product DOESN'T have to be unique, just have better features and improve on what's out thete. I'm still starting out myself, but that's the best advice I can offer to you.

First of all, private labeling can be extremely fast lane. Clearing 150k/month from 3-4 products is pretty fast lane don't you think?

Second of all, read @biophase's "Ask me anything about e-commerce 2015."

Almost everything is found in the USA. Even the niche that I have a ton of knowledge on, has been flooded. Thats my question though, how I can improve on a product rather than wholesaling the generic alibaba stuff. For example how would I go about making a custom beanie with different threads, cuts, etc. instead of just searching alibaba for product to stick a brand on.

Have you contacted the manufacturer of the current product your trying to update?

Look elsewhere, tons of innovative products not yet introduced in the North American market.

Some ideas - look at places like Korea, Japan, Turkey.

I mean there aren't sites like alibaba for these countries. Lazy I know. I have looked at a turkey product just now. They sell everything straight from turkey at low prices cutting the middle man out entirely. I'm just getting sick at researching and looking at this stuff. It seems once you find a product to wholesale well it gets flooded pretty quick and all these other sellers undercut you to the bottom to the point I am making a dollar per product. Whichever seller gets the red printed # of sales on their listing. Pretty much wins. Then you see all the straglers on the bottom of that top listing that just got to the game too late. To have a listing like that, I believe you have to have an eBay store to have A drop down menu and permanent listing (correct me if I'm wrong). Another cost that I can't afford right now. It's just day job and some online arbitrage I guess

On alibaba you can sort manufacturers by country of orgin. I've found plenty of places not in China that can make the products I'm looking for. Maybe I would suggest a shift in mindset, being lazy is not a very good fastlane strategy.

Fortunately there are no sites like Alibaba for other countries. At least that means you will have to use sites where you are not overwhelmed by vast numbers of traders masquerading as manufacturers. zedyakuza is right about being able to filter your Alibaba search by country, but there are better sites than Alibaba that also have that capacity.

In addition to that, there are country specific sites, many of them government sponsored. I list 24 alternative sites in my book. You might like to have a look at my post Sourcing From Countries Other Than China. Is it Worth It? in my AMA thread. Sharing my lifetime experience in export/import. Product sourcing specialist.

I completely agree with the idea of finding unique products rather than joining the crowd.
