Seems to be a common theme in marketing, sales, communication, leadership, etc… that story-telling is one of the most critical skills to master.

Anybody read any good books on how to be a better story teller?

I haven’t read it, but I think this is what “Story Brand” is about.

Building a Storybrand - Donald Miller (pretty sure this is the one @Andy Black meant)
Wired for story - Lisa Cron
Everybody writes - Ann Handley
Any Seth Godin book (not about storytelling directly but great examples of how to do it)

When exactly do you want to use storytelling? Because it's one thing to create a story behind a brand and another to use a story to be a great leader. The first one requires a myth that you keep repeating over and over again. The latter requires creating multiple stories with a nice "hero journey" arc.

These two were recommended in few blogs when I was searching for books to learn storytelling last year.

1. Story: Substance, Structure, Style and the Principles of Screenwriting - Robert McKee

2. Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die - Chip Heath & Dan Heath

I am yet to read them.

I recommend this. I’m in the process of reading it and have been for the past 4 weeks as I’m implementing along.
