I've been following Tony's work since 1991. I've read all his books, done his CDs, gone to an event which he was part of in 2000, UPW, and Business Mastery. Hell I bought his regular audio cassettes "podcasts" before there was such a thing as a podcast.

I've even interviewed him.

The Financial Disruptor - My Interview With Tony Robbins

I know a lot about his history. He's always on and pretty much what you see is what you get.

I've always had a love/hate relationship with him. Like MJ says in Unscripted he certainly didn't make his millions via the Slow Lane. There are definitely things I don't agree with him on which is fine and also fine with him BTW. But there are also many things he is right on target about and has the ability to simplify complex things which a mass audience can digest.

If you are looking to optimize your life, he's the master optimizer.

He's probably one of the best modern-day speakers and would recommend to seeing him in person at least once. He is perhaps one of the best salespeople you'll ever meet as well.

His events are like nothing else you've even been too. It's a combination of a sales presentation, religious awaking and rock concert all rolled into one.

The way they are executed are awesome and you can gather so much business ideas from the events themselves. Though realize Tony not only discusses how to better yourself, he uses the same techniques on you to upsell you other events/services. He's a master at NLP and nothing is done by accident in his events.

My recommendation is at least listen to his CDs and if you have the means go to at least UPW.

Don't just listen to what he says but more importantly interact with others in the event, go all out, and keep executing after the event is done.

Hi @lludwig, I can't see Investor Junkie in Germany :(. It says: "Unfortunately, because of GDPR and FATCA compliance requirements, our site is not available in your location." Can the interview be found somewhere else?

I like to ask myself: if Tony was short, pudgy, had a weak voice, and was balding, would he be as successful? In other words, if he looked NOTHING like the father figure most people would have loved in their life, would he be successful?

I try to stay away from teachers with an overly charismatic guru-like aura.

The only book of his I've read is Unshakable and that's not fastlane.

Exactly.

A lot of his followers go to his events every year.

OK retards, tell me this: if his stuff caused such transformation, why do you need to do it every year?

Because it's for consumption, not production.

The thing about Tony Robbins, is that his videos make you feel very good, warm and fuzzy inside. It's wonderful material to listen to before sleeping. Kind of like a lullaby for adults. Soothing, assuring, in control,....you feel safe just hearing his voice....

A lot of the thoughts I have on this topic have already been stated on this thread, so I'll stick to what I know.

If you apply the principles that Tony Robbins teaches in any of his books, programs or live events - you will experience changes in your life. It is as simple as that.

If you've read Awaken the Giant Within or taken Personal Power II I can almost guarantee that it has changed your life for the better in some way.

I am going to try to convince you to love or hate Tony Robbins - you've already made that decision.

My recommendation would be to check out some of his free material on YouTube or get a copy of Awaken the Giant Within to get a better understanding of what he is all about.

Yea sorry GDPR wasn't worth the risk (legal, financial, etc) of 1.5% of the audience coming from the EU. Plus US FATCA laws makes it very difficult for individuals outside of the US to open an account. So felt it was best to just outright block.

The new owners will prob change this at some point.

I know a few people like this. Like groupies. I wonder do these people have lives and businesses to run????

A lot of action faking to be sure. I do plan on myself going to more of his events perhaps the Date With Destiny event. Just don't need to go to 6 events in one year!! Yes I know some who have actually done this.

I didn't see it in this thread but if you want to get an idea of what his events are like see the NetFlix documentary "I'm Not your Guru". While not critical in anyways of Tony or his events, it does give you an idea of what it's like pretty accurately.

Why don't you grace us oh wise one on how YOU would run the forum if you were in charge of it once again? I am sure we are all dying to hear that one again...

I think the most common piece of mind you'll hear about Tony Robbins, at least around this forum, is "get his sense, not his specifics."

Combining those with the knowledge of Parkinson's Law (work expands as to fill the time available,) and Cardone's idea of "raise your efforts to match your expectations," gave me the basis for what became my practice of "Oh sh*t" goal setting.

Then I noted Parkinson's Law and discovered that I really could do it in a week. Following, with Cardone's Law of Effort (as I call it) I began writing on 2/07 this year, and published on Amazon on Valentine's day.

Thank you for sharing Parkinson's Law, had never heard of it until now. Hope you have a great day.

Yeah the language was inappropriate; got carried away. Just to be clear, when I used those words, I didn't mean it generally. I was thinking of a particular extreme type of individual when I used it, not anyone who shares sympathies.

I went to one of the events once. I remember people explaining their life goals about they've always wanted to quit their job and attain success etc. Except they then let slip they'd been to the same event a dozen times in a row over the years, including flying elsewhere just to do the event again.

That's action faking at a new level. A lot of those types are only there for the motivational feeling, but it wears off a few days later and then they're back to being exactly who they were. They're motivation junkies. They're suffering-assuagers, not want-to-winners.

Not to mention the fact he actively upsells after you've already spend thousands. You're actually paying hundreds of dollars to him to upsell you to an even bigger seminar, where no doubt he'll upsell you to an even bigger one.

The total actual new wisdom you get is minuscule. It's a pure motivation / inspiration jolt, which is just ineffective for the slow burn needed to actually win.

He conned me into bettering myself and improving my life. What a jerk!

I said nothing about MJ's book. It has the same effect for me. But uh, when someone gathers you into a room and chants ra ra ra and has you walk on hot coals, I have to call bullshit.

Yea, I've seen events where he has people walk on hot coals and do chants. If that's not the makings of a cult, idk what is. Nothing he offers (especially at his fees) are beyond what a Joe Schmo leadership coach should be able to offer for a fraction of the price.

I'm not looking to change your opinion at all.

I just wanted to point out that this is a great example of the fact you can literally help 100,000,000s of people and still have haters.
What does he do that's helpful? Not being sarcastic, I actually want to hear that viewpoint.

404, I'm not going to rag on you and I'm going to try and honestly answer this question for you. I'm saying that in case anything I say makes you feel like I'm attacking you. Not that I plan to be rude, just covering bases.

First of all, up until maybe a year ago I agreed with you completely. I knew who Tony was, vaguely, and most of that was the same impression you've got right now. I come from a long history of skepticism towards gurus and anything popular. It's hard for me to overcome those nagging feelings.

That said, I've had the experience over the last 9 months of getting a closer exposure to Tony's work and it has completely changed my opinion of him. @ZCP is coming at this from the same place I am and he's seen it work for himself.

I say that while acknowledging that I will probably never spend big bucks to work closely with Tony, for all the reasons you name.

That said, his books and some of his reasonably-priced digital products are life-changers. Don't discount him because he's casting the net wide to reach the masses. It may look shameless, even ugly to us...but we're not always the target market.

I say life-changing because, for me, it was. And I say that to you directly, knowing you've had some personal struggles of your own to deal with. Some of the issues you've talked about remind me of myself in another lifetime.. I can tell you that if you give the material an honest chance -- turn off the "NO BS" filter and give it a really honest shot -- it can take you to a new place.

If you think I've just fallen for another guru, let me know and I'll tell you all the things I think are wrong with Tony's work, in excruciating detail. (Thing is, seeing what I've seen of the guy, he probably wouldn't argue with me.)

Recognizing faults doesn't mean you can't the appreciate gems. Which is a lesson I wish more Fastlaners would learn in general.

I'd point you back at @Kung Fu Steve 's response back on page one, for a quick review. The place to start would be (IMO) Awaken the Giant Within, with Unlimited Power as a close second. You can probably grab a copy of either for under 10 bucks or grab it from the library if you've got a decent one nearby.

If you're self-motivated you're self-motivated.
If you're not, you're not.

Nothing Tony can do to change your whole life around any more than a pastor can touch your leg and you go "Oohh! I can see now! I can finally walk after being bedridden for 45 yrs!"

The thing to learn from Tony is not self-motivation or self-improvement, confidence or optimism..... it's about learning how to build your personal brand that can charm others, his style of marketing, what makes the masses bow to him and do as he commands, what is it that he has that makes people feel good and come back for more, and how he is able to make even veteran businessmen and celebs submit to him.

If one can apply even some of these know-hows to their business, it would likely go up by leaps and bounds.

I just started reading this book called Brand Seduction after seeing another member drop the recommendation in another post. It seems Tony has built a "brand fantasy" as what is mentioned in the book......

I appreciate your kindness and gesture, but a couple years ago (last year I think?), there was a Tony Robbins event (UPW) in Singapore, near my old workplace, and..., I just shake my head at these guys for those few days when I walk pass the venue (it was at Expo that time).

I'm definitely not a TR prospect or a lead, but I have to stress that I admire the things TR and his team are doing, not everyone has the charisma he does. In fact, I would say among all the folks I've seen in action in my life, he is the most charismatic of all.

Tony Robbins helps people like a Baptist Pastor exorcises demons: he makes you feel like your life is irrevocably changed. For the people who function on belief instead of conviction, this actually does help them, but it only entrenches their bigger problem: they're emotionalists.

I used to be a Tony fan when Im in college. Now I still hold a largely positive view of him but I do see the shortfalls of his teaching. I read some of his books. I attended the wealth mastery seminar paid by my client, who is a devout Tony fan.

He offer decently good advices. He does believes in them after interviewing many successful people. I see the quality in the advice. But Wealth Mastery is quite problematic. Aside from being a slowlaner mantra, it offers contradictory advices. The course teach you to diversify but the some legends in the interview said otherwise. So what to do?

Psychology- It surely is beneficial if you never had attended such a training before. For someone who has no goal in life or with a defeatist attitude, Tony’s medicine will be a good cure. But beyond that....honestly it adds little value and it can dangerously lead to a path of mental masturbation. Motivational guru always avoid telling people that ultimately you have to eat the “shit” to progress and make a difference. Thats why I prefer MJ and Gary Vaynerchuk who do not hide on this. Don’t be lazy and do the work. Oh no its not about lazyness. It is the “limiting belief” and “wrong emotional state”. True to a small extend but they are trying to hide the core issue as a technical issue.

Tell us about your experience. What did you try that didn't work?

You have read the material and tried it, right?

You aren't just making passive-aggressive swipes from the sidelines with none of your own skin in the game, right?

Share your experiences and tell us what you tried that didn't work out, and what worked better, so you can add some value instead of trying to show everyone how wise and profound you are.
