What Fastlane Skills Should I Learn as a Medical Student?

Hope everyone is doing well! I just finished reading TMF a few days ago and started Unscripted yesterday. I have been trying to figure out how to set myself up to one day start a Fastlane medical practice.

Quick background: I'm a 24 y/o first-year medical student in the United States. After my training (7 years from now) I plan on opening a cash-based family medicine practice (direct primary care) in my hometown. The town itself has a population of ~30K people and is 10 minutes south of a city with a population of 400K. My overall vision is to provide stellar healthcare services to my patients (30-40 min visits, same-day appointments, discounted meds, etc) without having to worry about oversight from insurance companies.

My Question: Given that I'm nearly a decade away from being in a position to open my practice, what kind of skills should I focus on learning? Marketing? Coding & building websites? Or should I just focus on becoming the best doctor I can be and worry about business skills later? These questions have been burning in my head lately, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read and respond to this thread, I'm eager and excited to learn.

Hi ! Your plan potentially impacts thousands of customers! Studies could be a pillar of your business. Behold: What are the current needs in medicine? Who's in the market? What SUPERIOR value could I bring to this market? If you can STAND OUT, there's no reason for it to fail.

Selling and communication (written + spoken) will always serve you, as a doctor, or anything else.

While your plan seems logical, 7 years of health care policy changes is like 100 years. Today's healthcare will probably look nothing like 2030.

That's an interesting angle that I haven't thought of before, thank you for taking the time to share it with me!

However, the real questioning is the need to do 7 years of study to access this market...

Then I'll begin working on those skills now! Thank you for your insight and for taking the time to comment. TMF has already made a huge impact on me.
