Hello out there, I'm a 30 year old gentleman living in east TN. I've been working in and out of factories most of my life. I've had over 15 jobs and I am absolutely lost in life at the moment. I'm trying to find my way out of this area and have a life I can actually enjoy. I have been jumping from dead end job to dead end job since I was 15. I've worked in numerous manufacturing factories and that's about all that's around here to make a decent living from. I cant stand the manufacturing life and I guess I'm just one of those people who cant stand to have a normal job. I want more out of life. I want to do something I love and something I'd be passionate about. I've always looked to journalism ever since I was young. I would get excited or very upset and write away. I also love photography. Dream career would be traveling taking photos and recording all I see and encounter. I want to write about how places and people have a certain feeling, sence, and vibe. I want to photograph power, emotion, and life itself. There's not a chance in hell I'll make much of myself where I am now but I can tell you this, I'm not getting any younger. I pretty much threw away my 20s with thinking I'd find anything around this place. This whole area is overrun by drugs and poverty. I have no college experience so there's a cut back already. Right out of high school I was in a factory and been hating it ever since. I honestly can not figure out what to do but one day I hope too. I apologize if this is a little lengthy as it is just my introduction but I thought if I was going to introduce myself I might as well lay it all out. I wish you good luck in your ventures and hope you're reading this from a wonderful place. Maybe tomorrow will be the first day I start a new life. I can only hope I find how..

Hello, your post radiates a lot of frustration, frustration that sounds temporary. One of those cry for help situations, like you're having a FTM (F*ck This Moment).

See, the truth of the matter is that nobody cares what you want to do or love doing. The market is very selfish and won't give you what you want unless you do it first. It is evident that you haven't read the books written by MJ. My advice would be to start there first, everything else should come natural your way.

Don't be upset for the past, you'll earn nothing. Try to learn from your mistakes instead. Good luck.

I have read both books, and although they were a complete mindset revolution for me, I don't agree 100% with everything in them, and the center of the reply I'm quoting here is one of these disagreements.

Yes, that is a reality, the market doesn't care what you want or love. That is a fact. But you should go by that exclusively only if "money" is your only pursuit. If it isn't, then you have to find a balance.

I'm not a millionaire; but here's what I have:
- an online business that puts $8k in my bank account every month with less than 20 hours a week of work
- real estate investments that pay housing expenses (mortgage, taxes, HOA, maintenance)

That's a decent scenario, isn't it? Far from ideal or real freedom but, I'm sure this scenario is a goal, a money goal, to many people. I know it was for me several years ago... But guess what... I feel lost, without purpose right now (reasons and context.for another post)... And I'm currently working really hard on solving that emptiness.

You have sport stars retiring millionaires, to then work as Radio hosts, and even become investors and businessmen, like Alex Rodríguez for example.

You have figures like Elon Musk, who became millionaire just to keep busting his a$$ with SpaceX and Tesla...

You also have MJ De Marco, the founder of this forum and author of the two books mentioned above. These comments and posts, the success stories of people who have changed their life thanks to him and his work, give him satisfaction, a sense of purpose and passion, and something to work towards. It's not about the money, he doesn't need that... And yet he works.

And I get it, laser focusing on what the market wants and being willing to go into whatever necessary to buy yourself out of dead end job and debt makes total sense. INITIALLY. Then what? That's where I'm at and that's the realization I've come up with... It could be wrong and that's what this forum is for.. but my two cents are that we need to "try", depending of our situation, personality, and skillset, to find something that the market wants but that we can also find purpose and value on doing. Not one thing or the other mutually exclusive, but integrally combined. Easier said than done, but worth trying?

And no, absolutely no, you don't need an MBA. Read both MJ's books, then read "The E-myth", then read a good book on sales and another on marketing... And you are ready to hunt...

Read both books and come back and tell us what you think and how you should proceed.

If you can't read a couple of books to change your life, your life will never change. And today's post was just a form of venting and feel-good action facking.

Your post has a lot of limiting beliefs and excuses which will stop you from changing anything. Truth is, no one cares where you live if you have something I want.

Welcome to the forum, hope we can help.
