Heya!

The title is kinda self-explanatory
In addition to this, I made more than $15,000 profit with the app, so I have $80,000, enough to be safe for a few years where I live.

I started shipping tons of apps in September (7 from October to December), most of them were crap but it allowed me to learn a lot.
Then at some point, one of them took off. I didn't have the skills/motivation to improve it further so I decided to sell it.

$80k isn't much but I'm pretty sure it's going to shrink if I keep it in cash. For those who sold companies, apps or others, what would be the best way to "store" it? (I don't want to touch cryptos)

For people interested in the process, I documented everything in the Fastlane forum. From my eCommerce failures, to how I learned to code, everything is in here, I'll include some links below. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Here are some posts talking about the process starting from 2020 to today:
Then I came across a post here, from someone with a huge success story after he learned to code. I can't remember the post, but while reading it, I knew I had to learn to code.

Bien joué !

I will read all your threads, this will be definitely motivating.

If you want to invest it, I guess there is no special trick for it in France: mainly real estate and stocks. It needs a bit of knowledge and experience so if you don't have time for this, I would recommend to fill your Livret A (for people who does not know, it's a popular french placement backed by the state) if not done yet. You will then get a moderate return of investment at a very low risk.

If I was you, I will keep the rest of the money for reinvesting in the next project. 80k$ is nice but not enough on the long term. This money would help a lot to build something else, something bigger.

Also beware of taxes, we're in France after all.
Don't forget to reward you too, as said in MJ's books every step of the journey needs to be celebrated!

You did it!! I remember your thread asking if you should sell for $50k. Bravo!
Personally I would do 1 of two things: Put most of it into another business (how can this cash help you make another, bigger, better business - faster?) or, if you don't have any such ideas, invest it into something that pays you (stocks, bonds, cash-flowing real estate). Check out the financial portion of Unscripted . It's GOLD!

And congrats again! You're on your way to $1 million now that you've jumped from having no money to having a nice chunk of change.

It typically goes something like this:
- 3 to 6 months in bills for emergency savings
- pay off all bad debt (credit cards and high interest loans - these are like weights on your neck) - not necessarily mortgages or even car loans if the interest is low
THEN investments and cash infusion into businesses

Congratulations on your first success man!

This is what only 12 months of deliberate work can do.

No prior experience. Just determination and process-oriented thinking.

Truly an inspiration for a lot of people, thank you for sharing your story!

Do you mind sharing the on the platform on where the selling of app takes place?

How does the process looks like?

How do buyers do due dilligence?

How does buyer resume control while the seller relinquish it?

It could be a helpful to those in the forum who are actually looking to buy apps too.

Thanks!

:fistbump: congrats bud. $80K is a big win considering you went from not knowing how to code to selling a web app in less than a year. That's more than some software developers make in their first year (and don't forget that many of them spent 4 years on a degree).

I second this advice. Roll it into a new business venture. Maybe you start another app, but this time you are backed by advertising dollars. Or maybe you can purchase a business.

And like he said, without any of these ideas, take a look at some of the advice on the forum. Personally, I wouldn't go too risky with it. I would want to preserve it so that I have it when I need to start the next business.

Oh, I'm not in France anymore haha, I just got the residency for my current country, including tax one, which is pretty advantageous, I can technically bring everything here with very little tax, but I don't want to sit on cash.

I'll def use some for doing some tests and start new biz tho, but I like the idea of creating projects from scratch with minimal budget.

Yes, that's a good idea, I'll def re-read it. Probably not enough to put it in Real estate yet, but stocks could be cool, just need to find the proper setup

And yes, will def put some into new businesses, already have another app ready to go

What tool did you use for your landing page and buying process?
Where did you learn about AI? Do you think AI is much needed to make more money from apps?
Vanilla HTML/CSS, I don't use any framework. Node.js on the back-end
I learned by testing things out, but I also took Coursera's machine learning specialization (which is nice but not directly useful).

And no, it's not needed

Do you mind sharing the on the platform on where the selling of app takes place?

Thanks!
It was Acquire.com, I posted my listing, and then people signed NDAs to access the info, message me, and then make offers. I choose the offers I like the most, they do their due diligence, then accept the offer and transfer everything through escrow.com Very smooth and almost fully automated (for the NDAs and everything
)
If I remember correctly, all the info is documented in his previous threads (which he provided links to). From the moment he started the project, up to the point of selling.
Yep, everything is there. I just didn't posted about this app, it's on my personal blog (also added the link)

:fistbump: congrats bud. $80K is a big win considering you went from not knowing how to code to selling a web app in less than a year. That's more than some software developers make in their first year (and don't forget that many of them spent 4 years on a degree).

Congrats on your sale :D!

Yes, already started a new biz, but I want to make something from scratch again, no need to spend $ upfront. I was thinking of putting maybe 10-20% in a "preservation" placement and keep the rest as available cash
Is your next app open to investment?
I'm not sure it would be a good use of anyone's money haha, most of the things I try don't work out, I'm just testing a lot until something sticks

Congz man.
Big ups.
Great to have this threads of yours here.
Thanks a lot! Hope it can be helpful to someone who was in my situation a few years ago

What was the lack of motivation if you don't mind me asking?

Big congrats again, mate!
Thanks!! So, I don't really care about design and logos in general, I hardly see myself scaling an app related to this and making content for it. If I had the tech knowledge to do it, I would have, but it's not the case, so, better move on to something else

At the end of the day, all that matters is who you're solving the problem for.

I had to go to uni (not a choice) so I chose to go with AI. Now I'm hooked. Downloaded Deitel's python books yesterday and I'm also making my first little project (It's only the front end for now).

Hey bro, we're you advertising on social media or was this completely organic. If so, how was your profitability, in other words, how did you cpa, cpi and ctr looked like?

I appreciate your time man, I'm about to launch an app, but I want to have a better idea of how profitable it can be as it'll require a good investment.

Thanks!

Fully organic, tried ads a bit but the economics did not made sense (Getting a CPA under $15 is hard, and this is my target to be profitable)

Ai is a good trend wave to ride

I’ve seen an app being promoted as ai ad creatives when you can clearly tell it’s just using templates to generate a bunch of ad variations

The problem with trends is when they die so does your business, but as they say, make hay while the sun is shining
