Hey @MJ DeMarco @Andy Black and fellow fastlaners!!

As a young entrepreneur, I'm eager to connect with experienced individuals who can provide guidance and mentorship. I recognize that I may not have much to offer in return at this stage of my journey, and I want to approach these potential mentors respectfully and thoughtfully, ensuring that I don't waste their time. Could you please provide some advice or suggestions on how to effectively seek mentorship without burdening those I reach out to?

Well, for starters you can do your homework. For example, this topic has been discussed often on this forum.

Have you read those threads so I don't have to waste time repeating myself?

You want a mentor to like you and be kind to you, but you have nothing to offer in return? That's cute. Do your homework and figure out how to get to a "yes".

No luck? How easy you quit. More like no skill and no heart. You want to be spoon fed.

Sure that's possible. I know how to do Google searches to find what you need.

But there is zero value in me going and doing your research for you. I'm over here trying to grow three companies. Why would I take time to do this for you?

You're showing me that you're not somebody who takes initiative. Why would I help you? The more I try to help you, the more you're going to ask me to help you.

You are the worst kind of mentee. The kind that doesn't respect my time.

What's in it for me?

I will surely keep this in mind and try harder, thank you for showing me a new direction

Here's a thread I just created to answer this and similar questions when they come up:

Good for you taking it on the chin, and *thanking* @BizyDad for his feedback. He's a typical busy business owner but in this case spent the time to try and let you see how busy business owners think.
