Ancient Greeks and Romans understood the "personality" as something much closer to a series of roles that people play. This wasn't about insincerity, but rather that people act in different ways when they are playing the role of father, friend, husband, lover, warrior, etc.

You can and should have multiple personalities in this sense as it makes life far more fun because it essentially gives you the option to play games.

Why don’t more people start businesses when they’re okish in life?

Why do you have to start a business as a last resort?

The someday principle and comfort pain principle from MJ’s new book explains this pretty well.

Either they haven’t had a F*ck this event (FTE), are telling themselves lies that they’ll do something someday, or their job is paying them just enough to keep them from leaving and starting something themselves.

There’s also something we call the golden shackles in software development. Say you join a company like Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, or Google as a software developer… within a few years you can easily be earning 300K+ with full benefits, stock options, etc… All of these benefits make it difficult for someone to start something that has a high chance of failing.

Additionally, who knows what beliefs a person might have. There are a ton of poisonous pens out there that can affect people.

There's a new cafe by the local high school that opened up that I've stopped in a few times. I was thinking about ordering lunch there today so went onto the website for online ordering. They have a bakery section for house made cookies and such and the menu section on the website is "Lil Somethings" and it's just too cutesy for me that it makes me feel like I'm in 3rd grade and/or want to gag.
