I thought that it took 6 hours for the caffeine to leave the system but that was just half-life.

I plan to avoid caffeine for at least a month and see how it impacts me. I don't drink coffee, just tea in the morning (and during the day caffeine that comes from dark chocolate and stuff like that, but that's probably a minuscule amount) but having learned this, it means that even though it's just tea and only in the morning, there's pretty much always some caffeine in my body that reduces my sleep quality (which is bad already).

Thanks for posting. Been thinking about this a lot lately as I know a few guys in the entrepreneur space ditching caffeine. Past couple of years I've been drinking tea and energy drinks far too much.

Caffeine is one of the worst things out there, I used to be hooked on it as my workplace supplied it for free. Never drank coffee before then and noticed every time I drank coffee I felt SO happy and mentally boosted up, now while you think that's great.. in the long term it's horrible since it has the opposite effect once the tolerance kicks in, and dehydration with sleep side effects..

I completely avoided caffeine for more than 3 months.
I was /am not an avid coffee drinker, though I used to eat chocolate though

what felt great? (I avoid but don't stop myself(social) drink coffee in the evening
nothing.

what was worst?
I became very sensitive towards caffeine, and a small amount has a high hit.
1 cup of black coffee made me buzz.

Interesting fight with McGregor.

The cycle of being a hungry underdog, to champ, to a life of excess success, to losing to the next hungrier guy is fascinating in sports.

I wonder if this loss will have him back training harder than ever or are the glory days over. I’d love to see him go full blown monk training mode but at the same time he has achieved everything he set out to do.

Will be very interesting to see how this changes things.
I feel like GSP is the exception to that. That guys mentality is fascinating.

I drink decaffeinated tea. Maybe try that?

Decaf tea still has some caffeine, but very, very little.

I'd rather get rid of the habit altogether and switch to herbal teas. I already started drinking peppermint tea more often recently and that's a pretty good healthy alternative.

I cut out caffeine on Dec. 22 and went about a month without it.

Interesting side effect for me: I started dreaming again.

I hadn't realized that I hadn't dreamed in forever (or, at least, remembered my dreams). Now, I'm back to having crazy, wild adventures in my dreams.

I figured this was a sign that my brain was feeling more creative.

I went back to drinking tea a couple weeks back. Then I cut out caffeine again last week.

Going caffeine free seems to be a better option for helping me to be more grounded and "prepared for the day" mentally.

Which is funny, because I was using caffeine to accomplish exactly that. ("In order to face the day, I'm going to need some caffeine.")

Thanks for sharing that. Regarding the last part, that's how the body behaves when it's addicted. You get withdrawal symptoms so you think you need caffeine to face the day (but in reality it only masks the problem).

Wikipedia puts it rather bluntly:

Caffeine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant of the methylxanthine class.[10] It is the world's most widely consumed psychoactive drug.[11] Unlike many other psychoactive substances, it is legal and unregulated in nearly all parts of the world.

I became very sensitive towards caffeine, and a small amount has a high hit.
1 cup of black coffee made me buzz.

I almost never drink coffee because I don't like its taste but when I drink it, it feels like having a mini heart attack. It's much stronger than tea.

I was getting heart palpitations when I was drinking one latte a day. The doctor advised me to stop, which was easy done.

I rarely drink caffeine (never liked tea or coffee, only occasionally drink coke) so one evening when I had a few too many colas (& not as an alcoholic mixer) over a few hours (maybe like 3 drinks lol) I started feeling super jittery, heart pounding, I think even my hands shook. It was horrible.

Whilst in the grand scheme of relative things, I'm aware there are much more powerful things with more harmful effects, it still surprised me how powerful & unpleasant it was. I guess as from the outside looking in, it doesn't seem like much of anything, but that's what you get for making assumptions from almost an entire population who've spent much of their lives building up a tolerance.

P.S. "OMG, how do you wake up in the mornings?!?!"
"Um, I just do." :frown:
"But..bu..bu..but.." :arghh:

Someone told me people who consume a lot of coffee are running at under 100% all the time. When they take the caffeine hit it brings them to 100% and they feel a-m-a-z-i-n-g. But it's what they'd be like all the time if they weren't feeling sh*t all the time. It kinda put me off coffee.

This is what I’ve always thought about coffee

As much as I enjoy it a couple times a week, I have never built a daily habit or addiction. I can start my day without coffee no problem.

I also don’t have sleep problems. My favorite time to drink it is actually after dinner.

don't want to start a new thread for this question,

is it possible to build a brand selling(white label) prescription drugs as a bundle?

thinking of doing something like this in my country.

why:
recurring
easier to get acquired (my opinion)
follows CENTS
Just find white label supplier and check local laws regarding ingredients.

I've literally been drinking coffee since I was 12. I gave it up for a few months a few years ago because everyone kept telling me I was addicted and would have massive caffeine withdrawals but nope nothing happened expect I was kind of missing the taste of it but had no real negative side effects. I hate iced coffee so in the summer I tend to drink less anyway because sipping on hot coffee when it's warm out isn't really that pleasant to me. If I'm going to have caffeine, I think coffee is better for me than crappy energy drinks.

I was thinking of approaching my boss about buying unused IT equipment from the business and setting up my Amazon / ebay accounts for selling this stuff.

Is anyone here in that space?

I drink hibiscus tea as my herbal. It's very good. WebMD says it can help with blood pressure and cholesterol, but I'm not a doctor. I saw something on another site once that said not to overconsume it.

Regarding coffee consumption: There was a guy that used to work for me. He told me he drank 4-5 pots per day. I'm not sure if that's accurate or not, however he had a coffee maker at his desk. We had to travel together once. We met at the airport. He had a coffee in his hand when I arrived and he told me he had one when he woke up. He got another before boarding the plane. He had one on the plane. One when we landed. One on the road to our destination and at least one when we got there. That was all within about 4 hours. I would think it would be really bad in those quantities.

It really bothers me when people around me claim depression, but refuse to acknowledge their unhealthy lifestyles. I don't know if it's just an American thing, but the level of ignorance surrounding general health is just insane to me.

So many people want the magic pill, or get the rich quick scheme to healthy living. You can't even have an honest conversation with someone because it's so normalized in the culture to drink alcohol/caffeine/soda. When you bring it up, it's so shocking and upsetting to them they instantly turn on you. I'm far from perfect, but what some people unknowingly do to themselves is crazy.

The problem is that you may 100% understand you're making unhealthy choices. But depression saps you of all energy and you either don't care or just don't have it in you to do anything about it. That's why it's such a huge problem. You may know exactly what will help you but you just don't have the energy (mental and often physical) to do it.

You can pry my coffee out of my cold, dead hands; but I'm with you on coffee alcohol and soda. Porn and pot are also awful.

I don't think that people realize how good they could feel all of the time if they improved their habits. I like to drink on occasion, but more often than not drinking kills my usual buzz.

Taking risks and having muscles are better highs.

You can always make money if you buy right. Sounds like a start and a good learning opportunity You can always then try to expand the pool of companies you are buying the stuff off of.

I say 100% absolutely to for it.

Just ordered an iPhone 12 mini. Thought I'd try something new.

Either way, I have the Galaxy 20 Ultra as well so both ends of the spectrum.
Traded my XR for it. So far it's the best phone I've had.
IMO the size is really great.

Drives me crazy. People get mad defensive over their unhealthy mindsets too. Upset a lot of people yesterday by posting to my positivity community (the irony) a post about gratitude increasing happiness.

Got snapped out of some meditation by reading about the unnoticed death of Joyce Vincent, a successful woman who was very popular but lay dead for three years in front of her TV before being discovered.

Felt like I was getting nowhere by living in my mind so much and 'forcing' myself to think. In December I decided to try the opposite and went all out into being present/aware (basically what Eckhart Tolle or Nisargadatta Maharaj teach) rather than thinking from the mind.

To be present is totally wonderful and gives me a sense of blissful joy and peace. I would dismiss any thoughts that come to my mind and simply enjoy the aliveness of my body and the surroundings in the moment.

Upon reading Joyce's story and relating in numerous ways, she was living alone following an abusive relationship, she had left a successful career a couple of years prior (I sold my business just over two years ago), and was popular mostly with men, I couldn't help but think about my own circumstances.

I'm not actually worried about dying but if I died in my apartment and my friends didn't hear from me, it's quite likely they'd think the same as Joyce's did, that something had worked out for me again & I was off enjoying my life and career.

It made me think about how I haven't had a proper catch up with friends, I think I'm the only person to have not had a zoom call all year, but there's really nothing to say. We check up on each other but I'm sure they sense that I don't have much going on, as I used to be passionate about what I was working on.

There's only so many times you can flog a dead horse (is that the right term? Lol) when asked what's going on with you before people realise you're not doing much. Sure the judgement free bliss of being present is lovely and peace is what we're all after, but I miss passion.

I miss having a bunch of things going on, always having another idea to be passionate about, and knowing exactly what to do. When you don't know what to do, it feels like you're stuck.

My dad showed me a Veritasium video on success where he states:
If you perceive an outcome to be uncertain, you’re less likely to invest effort in it which further decreases your chance of success so it’s a useful delusion to believe you are in full control of your destiny.

First, you must believe that you are in full control of your destiny and your success comes down only to your hard work and talent, but second you’ve gotta know that’s not true for you or anyone else. So you have to remember if you do achieve success, luck played a significant role in giving you good fortune, and you should do what you can to increase the luck of others.
This is something I feel I experienced. I often think 'I was so lucky' when I think of the decade prior to 2019, I took my first job in 2009 and by 2010 had reinvested the money into two side hustles which were bringing money in. My parents called me 'jammy' through school as my luck continued and when I left school with 5 figures in the bank I felt blessed, and experienced more of the 'luck' for years more.

After several bad choices over a short amount of time my mindset switched and I begun to feel unlucky. Even as I begun working on self-improvement, found FLF, dumped the awful boyfriend, sold my house, and got my new place, I still experienced things I'd subconsciously class as bad luck. I just had started to think of myself as unlucky.

I tried lots of hypnotherapy along with just consciously telling myself the principals of success & wealth and trying to shift my mindset but I never felt a shift in the same way I can do with presence. I think the only way I can start to feel lucky is if I start winning again, however small, and focus on those wins.

Eckhart Tolle & other gurus swear that if you stick to present awareness the answers will come to you (like how the name Eckhart Tolle & the idea for The Power of Now came to him in a dream), but I don't know if it's enough for me to go without passion for years in seeking that. Plus, if the answer never came I've spent years spending all my money, not being able to share my passion of entrepreneurship with those around me, and have to awkwardly move back in with my folks in my mid-late 20s

I don't care how small the wins are, but I need some. I just don't know where to start nowadays. In the past I'd just utilise whatever tools were available to me, e.g.: with early YouTube monetisation I'd create channels and post videos and begin making money within a couple of months, in early Tumblr days (2009-2014) I'd grow blogs and take sponsorships, in 2010-2015 before many people knew of dropshipping I'd sell tshirts at a high markup, and just generally scour the net for things to sell on eBay and Etsy. Whether I had 4 hours or 8 I'd be able to sit in front of my laptop and either make money or make very good progress towards doing so. In October & November I sat in front of my laptop for 12 hours and achieved nothing.

I guess the things I could utilise now to move towards making money now are Google Adsense, UpWork and my FB audience (over 600k), and I guess try and do some research to find other ways to fill my time with too.

I know it's fastlane advice to focus but focused or scattered, if I can be productive and passionate for hours a day, it's better than what I'm doing now.

Had no idea I had so much I needed to write out, but I'm sick of myself not having good news to share with FLF so let's keep it in random chat :)

Am I the only one who would love to own and live in an old-fashioned brick downtown building?
I'm not even sure what to call them but we have them in lots of country Texas towns. Would be so awesome to have the bottom space as your business or leased to a business, and make a great loft/living area upstairs. Wonder if anyone on this forum has done that!

I was treading water for close to 2 years and couldn't buy a win. As I read your post, I thought about two epiphanies I had:

1. Find someone to help. The Dalai Lama often says something like, "warm heart, calm mind, help others." When I focused on that, the money came. The money always seems to follow when I don't care about the money. It's the fun I have in helping someone else launch a business, or create something to help them market it.

2. I recently read "Let My People Go Surfing" by Yvon Chouinard. I liked the fact that he got into business to support his passion of climbing & surfing. It was his life. The business was a means to help support him so he could do what he loved with the people he loved. His desire to make the best product for his fellow climbers would turn that small business into Patagonia later.

I think if someone were to get into an activity to support the thing they loved to do, and that activity was focused on serving others, they would win. It's tough to do during a global pandemic, but why not sketch out an idea for building a tribe around a shared passion or hobby?

I'm sharing this because I've been thinking about these things recently, and maybe they could help you too.

Sometimes the best thing to do when you don’t know what to do is to spill your guts on this forum or a journal. (At least, it works for me. Lol)

Also, just out of curiosity, if ten years from now they invented time travel and you got to go back to yourself, today.. what would your 10 Years From Now Future Self be like? Would she be a calm relaxed meditation guru? Would she have a ton of balls in the air? Would she be loud or quiet? Dyed hair? Would you still wear a bra?!? Rofl.

My point is, she would love meeting you now because she knows all the wonderful things you’re going to do and all the cool ppl you’re going to meet. But you have to get to where she is.. so if you start describing her, really describing her, what does a day in her life look like? Hugs.

Like brownstone buildings? Never been in one but I’ve always loved them. If I was to ever live in a city, I choose a brownstone over a high rise any day.

Wow, those are beautiful. Yes I would definitely love that, but I was thinking smaller/cheaper (silly me) mostly due to my area (we don't have those Brownstones like that).

I like the commerical buildings on the old country town "main street":

Austin

Or something like this:

Galveston has some really cool storefronts like this, but they have insanely high HOA fees for some reason (despite being commerical buildings)

Most of those Texas towns have little going on, especially when the petroleum industry is down. If you already live close to one, then sure why not. Find something the little town needs for the business half, and live or rent out the top. If you could find something in a bigger town(let's use Waco) and buy something up before someone like the Gaines fix up an area then it would be great. Some areas just stay down for years though.
I cannot remember if it was Corpus Christi or Port Aransas that I took a boat out of around five years ago but they had exactly what you were talking about.
