Yeah. This is his alleged manifesto. Supposedly there is more that is still unreleased about how his mother was denied important care by United.. but his family seems very privileged so that's a bit weird. I'm sure we will learn more soon.

Nothing here sounds off the wall.

I could have written this, except, I wouldn't resort to murder.

And I wouldn't pin blame on Health Insurance companies, but on the food / pharma industry + lobby.

I'd wonder if such messaging would get sympathy from jurors, because the "average American" feels this hatred for the medical industrial complex.

Yeah, they also have the highest of all health insurances in the US as far as I‘ve seen. But to be fair, the whole system itself is so F*cking flawed. Yesterday I saw a post from an Australian, where someone was transported via a freaking plane after an accident, and the person wrote that the person who had the accident doesn‘t have to pay a cent for this. And this is true of Germany as well. Everyone has a health insurance and you don‘t have to pay a single cent for getting transported via helicopter (we don‘t have many doctor’s planes here lol). So yeah, I can understand the outrage from people describing how their loved ones died because a F*cking company denied a claim, even despite them paying their insurance. In a first world country you should not have to die because you couldn’t pay an operation or medicine.
I am shocked to know insurance company could reject a claim despite doctor’s recommendation.

I am in the business of insurance sales in Singapore. The way it works here is doctor’s memo is everything. If it is recommended it hers covered.

The regulation in U.S. is messed up.

Deny defend depose in his words.

But again it could be very complex and systematic issue.

If the hospitals and doctors are jacking up cost for revenue the insurance companies have rights to suspect.

It did happen here too when some private hospitals see fully covered patients like a gold opportunity to slaughter the insurance companies with big bills.

The insurance companies responded with writing letters to the doctors demanding explanation on the necessity of each item dragging the claim for more than a year.

Regulators step in. No more 100 coverage. Copayment is necessary going forward.

I feel like "The West" is a tinderbox, and all these things keep happening that are little sparks that are getting it one step closer to finally igniting. The recent CEO murder being one of them.

I just hope I can get everything sorted out, and some plans in place before it finally happens! I need a few years more.

I really hope that things can turn around, and I think the average person starting to reject the woke system is a great step in the right direction. I don't know, I just see what's going on and it makes me sad. I am happy that the legacy media is dying though. That is a brain cancer that is finally being halted. I hope that modern media ceases to be a thing in the very near future.

Weird pointless question/thought

Does anyone read the Wall Street journal or anything like it?

Did anyone used to read it and stop?

I’m reading poor Charlie’s almanac and he talks about it like it’s actually good

And I’ve seen a few other mentions of it recently in old classic books that’s made me think maybe it’s worth reading

However I assume and after visiting their site I think rightly assumed it had just become another woke propaganda fake news site

Is there anything like it that’s actually good?

Is there an opportunity to create something?

Or was it never that good and people just didn’t have access to much other information back then?

No I don’t want to follow a bunch of twitter accounts and get my news that way, but it seems almost like it’s the only way at the moment
I'm curious about this too.

I used to read the WSJ when I was in college for finance. I liked the print version, but I felt like there was only so much that could fit in the printed version, so I'd miss out on stuff. I didn't find it was worth the cost, especially when I could hop on Google and find a ton of info/news for free.

Also, Poor Charlie's Almanac is fantastic. Any big takeaways from it yet?

The coke talk is amazing and I’m yet to read the last psychology talk and then revisit it, but I think I understood it better than most since I have read a lot of marketing style psychology

I also realised I have made some terrible mistakes trying to buy fair companies or even bad ones at great prices, rather than great companies at fair prices

I could have saved myself a lot of money by reading that sooner

I do like his approach with physics/reality too, being that I just read Henry fords book and I do ecommerce selling physical products

When trump was elected I posted in the bitcoin thread that I was going to read all these old classics and it’s been valuable so far

Ahhhhh what do you guys do when you're not feeling it?

I have a million things to do still but I just can't be bothered today for some reason.... Maybe it's winter & lack of sunshine. Boy, I miss sunshine....

Walk the dog in nature or at a nice park. Seeing his joy lifts my spirits, even when it is cold and snowy.

I know what you're talking about! I don't know what it is about dogs.. I don't have a dog currently but my uncle has a border collie - they are some of the most energetic dogs I have ever seen. Absolutely love her. What kind of dog do you have?

Try and get something small done, so that I can say I got something done, then do whatever/nothing. Or maybe a few small things with large breaks between.

Do something in the household for 30 min. For some reason, this often brings me clarity and new energy to do other things. Maybe it’s an example of action fueling more action.

This. It's a reason why I keep a stickypad next to me to write down what I wanna do next to move things forward.

Many times I would skip writing it down because I thought that task was just 'too small/doable' and I'd 'get it done anyways.
Guess what happened later?

Also, what gets me up and going these days is reading/watching folks who break out of the struggle to do greater things.

A lot of folks here still caution on watching/reading as an action-fake. But I feel that once you get cashflow coming in and your obligations are already set...now you can read/watch with a purpose to refuel your mind and soul:

Quentin Taratino and Roger Avery talk to Joe Rogan about how they went from working in a video store to making movies. Quentin had to change his environment and friends to be around people who were actually making films and not just talking about it. Roger started writing scripts and making 8mm films he would show to everyone. It sounds like their successes were not as tied together as many people think. They were both making it happen on their own. Quentin's pivotal moment came when a bitter older friend working in the video store told a young Quentin, "Yesterday, I was you."

How was he radicalized?

How about chronic pain?

This was his X banner.

1733932993380.webp

The guy was smart, rich, young, handsome, and he even has a six pack.

But he suffered from chronic pain.

His bad posture was misunderstood. Misdiagnosed. Improperly attended to.

He was butchered by modern science.

What do you make of a spine like that?

A rigid spine means a rigid brain. Which means he can't find comfort. Which means his mind will remain stubborn. All learning is interfered with. He loses a vast range of his autonomic nervous response. He suffers from erectile dysfunction (his roommate college reported he couldn't have sex, but I already knew this was the case before I read that part of the story). And so much more.

Idk why he did what he did.
Idk why he went after insurance companies.

But I can guarantee you that it's inseparable from his chronic back pain.

This is why I'm so focused on bad posture.

It is the source of so much misery in this world. But it doesn't have to be that way.

This reminds me of this MIT Neurosurgeon / spine surgeon that blew up a bit on Youtube a few weeks ago.

He's basically saying that a lot of spine surgeries were NOT helping people, so he had to quit. Maybe this guy should have been mad at the surgeon that operated on him too. Or like MJ said, the food and pharma industry.

Are those pins permanent? That would suck to be that young with metal pins in your spine. No excuse for murder though.

WSJ tends to get first hands tip off on big financial scandals.

They are the first to release the big scandals in the past I remb.

But usually I follow Bloomberg for financial news as they are really good and no other outlets come close.

Charlie Munger and Buffet have a lot of good common sense advice on not doing stupid things. It was really popular I think 15/20 years back then everyone was treating them like God (before the silicon valley gods and tech billionaires took over the media attention)

But I don’t really think they are good role models for younger people. What kind of path would you go into? Work a 9-5 job, invest all your money in 3-5 consumer businesses with huge moat?

If you listen to them the only business idea you have is to work under a value investing hedge fund and be a future fund manager running your own fund.

The '50s had nuclear scares. The '60s had riots. The '70s had gas lines. The '80s had terrorism. The '90s had ... Actually the 90's were pretty awesome. The 00's had war. 10's had depression, mental and economic. '20's have pandemics.

There is always a reason to fear. There is always a reason to believe things are collapsing.

Don't worry. Don't fear. Choose to thrive instead.

And speaking figuratively... "Turn off the TV" and legacy media dies for you. I am so insulated, I often hear about tragedies because of this thread. Called my mama 4 days after the last hurricane blew through South Carolina.

Insulate. I agree. I used to read the WSJ and comb the news every morning, but I realized that 99.9% of all I read, although somewhat interesting especially the WSJ, had zero impact on my life. The only impact really, was negative. I stopped.

He is in for a world of hurt with incredibly uncomfortable prison beds and really bad medical care for the rest of his life. I'm sure he in regret he did not off himself or go out in blaze of glory.

I’m reading poor Charlie’s almanac and he talks about it like it’s actually good
Strange coincidence, I'm listening to the audiobook and I've been pleasantly surprised it has life lessons intertwined with investing.
The coke talk is amazing and I’m yet to read the last psychology talk and then revisit it, but I think I understood it better than most since I have read a lot of marketing style psychology
Totally agree, the coke talk made me want to go investigate the company's fundamentals immediately.

What particular books do you recommend for marketing style psychology? I've felt lots of marketing so far to be intuitive, but I don't know what I don't know.

I'd wonder if such messaging would get sympathy from jurors, because the "average American" feels this hatred for the medical industrial complex.

Don't forget the missing major, critical component: government. Government completely revamped the medical insurance industry 14 years ago and has all but taken it over. There were plenty of problems before but it's gotten MUCH worse and they own it now.

He's right. Spine surgery doesn't make pain better, it makes it worse.

In the video he talks about how behavior is the root of the trouble.

He unfortunately doesn't go further and explain why we produce chronic behavioral disorders.

Just drive your tesla up to local mountains and enjoy a nice hike with your dog. What's the big deal? Quit stressing out y'all

lol

Although I'm a Canadian, We've heard stories about american health system. The bills, etc.

For most other causes-I'd agree! but when you have hundreds of thousands of these stories, and the government isn't doing anything, that shows how messed up it is, and sometimes, you need to do something to be heard.

I'm betting that this is a rude awakening to legit the entire american government. You give these people the ability to walk into a walmart and purchase a deadly weapon, yet you play with them acting like they wont do anything.

**I do not endorse any type of violence, however this is a prime example of f around and find out**

Buddy ... I don't know if you've heard, but we've had government officials themselves shot at ...

I'm not sure what wake up call you think this is. This isn't changing anything.

Additionally, our government did do something about the healthcare system...

And half the country is still pissed off that they did anything at all...

Every time the government steps in to mess with medical insurance, prices, the system overall, more Americans get pissed off.

Besides, the typical "crazed lone gunman" propaganda machine is in full swing. Even in this thread. We have so many crazy lone gunman stories, people barely notice.

So yeah, no, nothing substantive will change.
