No pics, but I've been smoking all week a rotation of Punch, Patel's, Mombacho's, and Patoro's.

Got a new torch lighter with the punch in the bottom too. Never going back to carrying a cutter again, this punch in the lighter has been like a sweet little gift I never knew about.

Really enjoyed the Mombacho and Patoro cigars.

Have not ever came across an Undercrown yet, or even a real Cuban.

Not sure if there are any laws around it, but I'd be down to buying one from someone and paying for shipping too of course to try either.

I went to a blind cigar event tonight at a nearby lounge. Enjoyed what I would later learn was a La Imperiosa by Crowned Heads. I also tried an Asylum 13 which was nice, and earlier this week tried a Four Kicks Maduro. Loving this new hobby. Meeting a lot of interesting people too.

For those in Tampa, the likelihood around 1PM today that I will be sitting on a park bench at the sponge docks smoking a cigar and watching tourists is 100%. Because...it's Friday.

Unless you're a stalker (and I have one of those right now... he's just thankfully not from the forum). If you have zero posts, don't come. Other than that... message @Scot if you want to know where to meet up.

I'm going to make it down to Tampa one day this summer. Maybe it can be around the next meetup there and we can smoke a few

I had a few nice cigars on a recent trip to Brazil. Danneman brand. I enjoyed them so much that I looked into importing them for sale in the US. I contacted the company and they said they've already got an exclusive distributor in the US. Yet here I am unable to find them...

I am about to spend more than is reasonable on a humidor I fell in love with.

Post pictures of your humidification systems... Anything from a ziplock baggie and a sponge up to the crazy humidor I'm about to buy.

I am currently using two vertical humidors that each hold around 10 cigars with a boveda humidification envelope.

In addition, since I only had space for 20 cigars and had more than that on hand my overflow is a portable plastic cigar humidor that I stuck a Boveda pack into also. Does the job but that one doesn't have a gage. I can only assume the humidification envelope is doing its job.

If you ever get down to Tarpon Springs at the sponge docks there is a guy who sits in a little booth and hand rolls cigars. Awesome experience to just sit by the sponge docks and smoke one of his better than average hand rolled masterpieces.

In fact, I think I will go down there this afternoon.

I might have to invite you and your bottle of scotch over sometime.

I believe I know what person you're talking about. Last time I was there, I wasn't quite of an age to be smoking cigars yet, but next time I'm down in Florida I'll check him out!

Layers.

Baggie per cigar with a sponge, inside vertical humidors like yours with the envelope... all inside a larger cabinet humidor.. that's tucked inside a closet with it's own system.

Just kidding. I wish.

Punch or cut. Discuss.

I had a punch for a few months (it broke) and I honestly enjoyed using it. Mainly because you never run the risk of getting pieces of the cigar on your tongue LOL. Other than that, the difference between a cutter and a punch is negligible to me as long as they are of good quality.

HOWEVER, after learning more about the proper way to smoke a cigar I realized that I was smoking them like a barbarian for years! The things that made the biggest difference in my smoke were:

1. Ashing only when I absolutely had to
2. Cutting only a tiny bit off (when using a cutter)
3. Only taking a puff every so often and enjoying it more
4. Keeping the cigar away from direct flame when lighting it (almost like roasting a marshmallow)

This is one of the main reasons I like a good punch.

That, and its easier to carry ( built into my torch ) than another cutter.

I also dont have to worry about the wrapper coming apart near the cut too.

Honestly, just the fact that it’s built into your torch is awesome

One of my original favs, I had again last night.

Punch After Dinner ( not my pic )
Punch-After-Dinner-Full.jpg

While not the "best" I have had, at $6 a stick the value is damn good for what it is.

Still have been enjoying the UnderCrown's a lot ( thanks for the suggestion guys ) and Mombachos.

Cigar City's Maduro is one of the best brown ales in the world. Pairs great with burgers, sausages or chili.

I was a charter subscriber to Cigar Aficionado magazine. Few guys smoked cigars then, but I was a subscriber to Wine Enthusiast, and one month they had a card in it that offered a subscription to the company's new magazine for like $12, and I thought why not. Was a great magazine and I smoked cigars for a few years until the cigar craze of the mid-late 90's hit and the quality of a lot of the brands (not all) dropped. Obviously, the makers were trying to meet the insane market demand and were rushing the tobacco to market before it was ready.

I barely smoked for years, then gradually got back into it. Now I smoke maybe one a month, usually with coffee in the morning.

I can recommend the Cigar Dave radio show-he does an entertaining weekly radio show and podcast that discusses cigars, beverages, diversions and politics.

Just finished a Julius Caesar at the Diamond Crown event at my club. Hadn't had one in probably a year. Gman is buzzed. The wrapper on those things is second only to a Drew Estates Feral Pig.

Recently switched from cigars to this bad boy. Once I develop the strength of character, switching to a MacArthur pipe.

A good friend of mine has had me try a couple of his pipes... they’re ok, but I think I still prefer cigars.

Your friend sounds like a stable genius. Probably with the strength and chest hair of a silverback gorilla

In general, punch. I like the V cut sometime (not sure if the name is correct).

I'm from Miami, there is a lot of small hand rolled cigar factories. I've spoken to one owner in Little Havana (town in Miami) and he mostly ships up north to Jersey and NY.

I usually smoke local hand rolled, not brands.
