Hey, flipping coins is normal for making small decisions, after everything has been weighted. I always flip coins to decide what I want to eat. Saves me time.

I'm actually a little disappointed, I was expecting something more like 95/5. Nice test though, if only it showed in which exact areas you need to still work on yourself to have more Internal Locus, then it would be much better.

When you think it was all on you, think again, destiny might have helped you ;-)

A lot can change in 7 years! WOW! Although, I bet there is a 5 point variance based on a given day.

I have truly taken this concept to heart. I strongly believe external is important to success and happiness in general.

Not sure what organization has to do with it...

Eurgh... I’ve just remembered how bad I was at answering questions in school.

Take this question for example:

“11) Getting a good job depends mainly on being in the right place at the right time.“

Surely by definition you have to be in the right place at the right time?

Surely it’s up to us to *put* ourselves in the right place at the right time?

Or make it the fecking right time?

I don’t think that’s what they mean by the question though. I presume they’re asking whether I believe a job will come to me without me doing anything, just by “happening” to be in the right place at the right time?

I don’t understand...

Yeah. There's opportunity to overthink the hell out of some of the questions. Surely the question has to be implying happenstance, vs created opportunity.

Locus of Control Test Results

Internal Locus |||||||||||||| 51%
External Locus |||||||||||| 49%

In the 60s Psychologist Julian Rotter developed a theory called Locus of Control of Reinforcement. His theory centered around whether someone thinks their life is more influenced by external factors like fate, genetics, luck, environment (external locus of control) OR by internal factors like effort, tenacity, and free will (internal locus of control).

Your results suggest you believe your life is defined about equally by both internal forces (drive, free will, etc.) and external forces (genetics, environment, fate).

Thus, you have an Ambiverted Locus of Control

I don’t understand...

I think the crux of the matter resides in the word "mainly."

"Getting a good job depends mainly on being in the right place at the right time."
Does it? Or are there multitudes of other factors that play in to getting a good job, any one of which might be the main factor? How about your interview preparation, how professionally you dress, the job skills you've cultivated, the way you carry yourself, the people you know, the amount of persistent action you've taken, the way you've conducted yourself in the past, the jobs you've held in the past, etc.?

I think the question is filtering out the people who look at all the people with good jobs and chalk it up to chance. "Well, they got that job mainly because they were in the right place at the right time." Classic sidewalk thinking. They think of getting a good job the same way they think of getting wealthy - they think they'd have to "win the lottery."

Granted - the question's wording is pretty tricky.

Regarding the relationship between belief in ghosts and having an internal locus of control, I think the question lacks precision. But there's a subset of belief out there that if "the spirits are angry" then circumstances will conspire to wreck things. I think the question is attempting to filter the people who might believe this way against those who definitely do not. However, the usefulness of the data that particular question elicits is dubious at best.
