Can anybody from past attendees tell me if it's worth it to stay at the resort? I dislike staying in hotels and greatly prefer Airbnb, but maybe I'm not seeing some great benefits here.

I didn't want to share this in case it was damaging in some way, but I actually didn't book at the resort myself. I'm not sure if there are a lot of great benefits you get staying vs non-staying. However I would like to know too possible just in case.

I used my travel rewards to stay a couple streets down for free. That's the only reason I didn't stay at the resort.

I figure since it's a resort and casino, they let plenty of tourist in and out all day all over. Granted, I might have to drive over and pay for breakfast and then drive back at night late... Im fine with it.

Lucked out, won the '4 extra tickets' raffle. Just paid for my ticket and booked my hotel room 15th-18th!!

Excited to catch up with old friends and meet many new ones. I'm long overdue to attend the summit. What a great list of speakers!

You'd never see me in a hotel, let alone a resort; to say I dislike them would be an understatement lol. I would definitely stay in an Airbnb house if it weren't for the replies from the people who I respect.

I think that the resort, even after the discount, is extremely expensive (particularly when compared to Airbnb) and I'm not happy at all that there will be a big concert and show there (meaning crowds, noise, partying, etc.), but if past attendees I respect say I should stay at the resort, I'm going to listen to them.

Besides, in the grand scheme of things $1000 for three nights is nothing if it possibly means spending more time with like-minded successful individuals.

Yeah, what I'm saying is if there are real benefits ( compared to me waking in as a tourist and just "staying" all day ) then I'd think differently.

I've been to a ton of conferences in the past ( not this one ) and done both the "stay at the hotel of the conference", and not. I never could see a difference other than maybe having to go back to my other hotel 1x or 2x during the day, which isn't an issue really for me personally.

It's not like I have anything else to do but come to the event and stay all day with you all. There really isn't a need for me to go back to the other hotel during the day.

Just didnt know if besides me hanging out at the resort with you all with nothing else needed ( I pack extremely light ), if there were some super secret benefits I would miss out on.

It's a resort and casino.

You should expect to be as lively as any Vegas casino on a Saturday night. Even more so with Derulo and Inglesias being there that weekend.

There's a reason why I don't do this at a Best Western in Sun City.

If a lively crowd of young people isn't your thing, then yes, stay somewhere else. I'm sure the Hampton next door will be more quiet and business like.

Personally, I like the idea of checking in Thursday and not having to leave the entire weekend. The resort has everything. In years past, the group would split up and hit 20 different bars spread across the valley. The first year we did this at TSR, pretty much everyone hung out w/each other. There was no reason to leave and find the "hot spot" -- we were already there.

yeah TSR even has the hookers and blow part covered as witnessed by me at 2pm Thursday trying to finish slides with a neighbor tenant that wanted to do it all.....loudly.

This place certainly isnt a introverts paradise, but keeping everyone in the same place was a great outcome.

Need pics of hookers and blow for scientific purposes!

Not hookers or blow, but ask @OperationMyWay for his 2015 story......

(to note: no hookers or blow were harmed, seen, touched nor is my insinuation an admission of guilt by any party including but not limited to Viperion Corporation)

lol!! I'm curious now!

Hookers can give quite a perspective on a lot of issues....persistence, customer service, building a brand and increasing a customers lifetime value.

or so I've heard!

For people like me who have never been to the US before, I found an interesting read about tipping. It is written from an outsider's point of view and covers most situations, although not the hooker scenario.

Top 10 tips on tipping in America

And thanks to @amp0193 for the below info.

FWIW, when booking the room, the agent said that tip for the bag guy and the maids were included as a mandatory line item on top of the room charge, and that we shouldn't feel a need to tip them.

Here's the guide for tipping if you are coming from outside of the country...

Airport in states (if porter helps you with bags, tip $2 per bag)
From airport to casino (tip taxi guy 15-20%)
If a porter takes your bags to your room, tip $2-5 per bag, if you take bags yourself, nothing. (Tip yourself lol)
Room stuff: Nothing, they will automatically add tips on your bill.
Dining out: Tip wait staff 15-25%. Drinks: Tip bartender 15-20%.
Buffet at Casino: Nothing, it is added to your bill when you pay at register.

That should do it.

Thanks for the tips (he, he). We may be overthinking this, but I have a habit of trying to learn what I can about a culture before visiting.

The benefit of staying at the resort is that if you get tired you can head up to your room for a short nap before dinner or before going out at night, which could be Old Town Scottsdale, or the club at the top floor.

I would probably stay there too, if I didn't live less than a mile away from the resort.

Any of you locals ever done the desert ATV tours that are offered by a bunch of companies? Or have any close friends that have?

I'm really into that kind of activity but the prices are pretty steep. Anyone have feedback? Random online reviews seem quite good.

My husband is contemplating starting a business like this & would probably take you out into the desert in the side-by-side on a moments notice, haha.

I am already booked at the resort (did so right after ticket purchase). I figured if I will travel 20+ hours to get there I might as well enjoy myself a little.
