The power of 1, and this forum had put me on a roller-coaster I am on now.

1 is validation, as there may be 1 more...and many more...

1 is sometimes more than enough if it's the right 1, opening you many more doors...

1 gets the baggage of big expectations off your back and lets you work on that 1, first sale...

1 month building a lead generation site to test the market.

2 months building a real website, talking to companies and getting locations online.

First sale tonight. 17 emails back and forth. Used Freshbooks to charge (didn't work), then a PayPal invoice from a different company account.

$430 sale, $70 profit.

Thanks for reminding me to share @Andy Black ;)

"Help someone without asking anything in return." - Oh boy, this is one of the most powerful concepts EVER.

Thanks @SinisterLex for constantly reminding us throughout your threads.

I started doing exactly that - and the magic started to happen.

Jumping on a call with @Andy Black made things MUCH clearer and taught me one thing.

"Don't waste time, BUT go out and help someone with what you ALREADY know. Do it TODAY."

So, fast forward to yesterday: I went on Fiverr and completed my profile.

I was COMPLETELY new to the site - NO history, NO reviews, nothing.

It took around 5 HOURS until - ding - I received an email from Fiverr, saying: Great news: You've received an order from...

Following @SinisterLex's advice - ALWAYS over deliver - I sat down and poured everything I had into it.

The RESULT?

Yeahhh.png

Someone here on the forum once taught me: if you can sell 1, you can sell 10. If you can sell 10, you can sell 100. If you can sell 100, you can...

Now I have to prove that it was not just luck :p

Make it happen. Do it today. Do it NOW.

P.S.: THANK YOU GUYS!

Just to add some more context to this...

@Nicoknowsbest saw one of my videos on my Facebook page a couple of weeks ago and PM'd me to let me know the audio and video were out of sync. He said he had been editing videos for a marketing agency for a couple of years and would like to help me.

He reached out to help with no expectation of getting anything in return.

We jumped on a call and discussed what I was doing and why, and started work on a project.

I didn't pay Nico, but when I found out his background in graphic design, I gave him suggestions on how he could help me (a marketing agency owner), and my clients.

I don't know what his offering is on Fiverr, but it will likely be related to the ideas we came up with.

In addition, I'm trying to work out how to add Nico's services to my offerings and add them as line items to the invoices I send out.

All because he reached out with an offer to help.

Here's a line I love: "The person who'll run with the ball is the person who catches the ball."

Nico raised his hand.

He put himself out there.

He's the guy who'll run with the ball.

What will you do to help someone today?

Ding-Ding-Ding!

Woohoo! One in a row!

In this thread I mentioned some goals for this week:
  1. Get some banner images for my blog and social media accounts.

  2. Get automated invoicing and payments implemented (maybe using Freshbooks and Stripe).

  3. Sell a landing page to a prospect, not just the AdWords campaign build for the first month.

Soooo... one of the above is billable, whereas the other two are nice-to-haves.

I focused on the billable one, and signed up a client on Wednesday to pay for a landing page to go along with the AdWords campaigns I'll build.

I've passed that money directly to a designer and developer to get a page implemented. There's no need or point me marking it up - it makes our service look better, and I can't generate enquiries with their current website anyway.

Woohoo! One in a row!

Got my first few clicks today! The only sale we made today came from Google and was a 5-item order. I'm prepared to take credit for that. ;)

One in a row!

Right now, I am sitting here at my desk, in my office, grinning like hardly ever before.

I just finished a phone call.

But it was not just another phone call.

Let's go back two days in time.

I started creating an Excel file with seeds and locations for my first AdWords campaign, after taking @Andy Black's Marketplace - Andy's AdWords Course - Get found by the people already looking for you

I ended up creating ads for around 150 keywords.

2 days, 114 impressions and 8 clicks later, I was interrupted while working by my phone ringing.

With trembling hands, I stood up, did some air squats, inhaled deeply and...

...picked up.

There was an actual human on the other end of the line who wanted help from me!?

A casual conversation about what he'd need (he is a personal trainer) later, I now have one more lead to write a proposal for.

One more human being I can help.

One more human being I can create value for.

One more human being I can turn into a raving fan.

This. Is. An. Incredible. Feeling.

Thank you @Andy Black for sharing your knowledge with us!

Wow. From asking where to start, to taking advice onboard and just starting there and then, to making his first sale.

I haven't even finished the course yet i am only about 20 - 30 percent through it but i can already tell this is a skill ill be able to take with me throughout my entire life.

Worth every penny.

I missed replying to this.

What a fantastic story. This is what it’s all about folks - there’s a real life person behind every phone call and email enquiry you get.

There’s a real life person doing air squats to psych themselves up to post on this forum and put their heart out there.

Thanks so much for sharing your story @Nicoknowsbest.

Woohoo! First membership sale yesterday.

I’ve a course that people paid $299 or $399 for lifetime access. I wanted to make it more accessible during this coronacrisis so setup a brand new Thinkific instance and am selling the course for $150 for 3 months.

I don’t mind folks unsubscribing. I’ll add more courses over time and maybe some people will continue their membership.

I remember the first time my business had a sale. I still get an adrenaline rush when I get a contract signed.
Good for you. The first ever sale is sweet, and there’s so many more firsts that can be just as (if not more) sweet. The first time you have an $X day, week, or month. The first time a new customer pays for another month. The first sale for a new product or service. Etc.

I think should all be celebrated and savoured.

Can you setup a scale of firsts to help you level up?

An example off the top of my head:
  1. Setup your first ad.
  2. Get your first ad impression.
  3. Get your first click.
  4. Get your first email signup.
  5. Get your first person to agree to have a chat with you.
  6. Get your first person to buy XYZ product or service from you.
  7. Get your first average of one sale a week.
  8. Get your first average of one sale a day.
  9. Get your first average of ten sales a day.
  10. etc

First sale from one of my BOT social media accounts.

Woop Woop.
Well done @Timmy C.

What's the lead up to this? Did you go through ups and downs before making this first sale? How do you now feel after making your first sale for this project?

The lead up to this has been three months of execution and careful planning, setting up multiple accounts, and making deals with creators to be an affiliate.

I went through plenty of ups and downs, and I'm sure there will be plenty more to come.

I feel a bit relieved, I knew it was only a matter of time before I made a sale, but I was hoping it would be sooner rather than later. Still, a long way to go, I will be on this journey for quite a while before compound interest takes effect.
