I've seen this book recommended by someone else here on the forum (I THINK it was @Kak but I'm not entirely sure.) Some other people may have read it too. But for those that haven't, take note..

If you have not read this book, read it. Doesn't matter if you are a new business owner or haven't even started yet, you will learn some great takeaways. I bought this book on my Kindle at 1 AM last night and was up until 4 reading it. After I finish typing this post I'm going to go finish it. It's an addicting mix of marketing and the psychology behind it, but it's explained in a way that anyone can follow.

I know there's a copywriting group going on right now. Those guys will definitely find this interesting, even if you already know some of it. The author references Gary Halbert more than once.

P.S. - Statistically more people read the "P.S" of your message before the other contents. Other than the header, it's where you have the best chance of getting the person reading it to take action. Very cool thing to know if you have active email list subscribers.

I read it few months ago on my kindle but decided to order a paper version. Should be delivered tomorrow. I will put it to good use soon as I'm working on a copy for my product listings.

The book is straight up amazing. I read it a while back and still remember the techniques presented. I'm a biology/psychology typa fellow and the book was right down my alley.

ANYONE trying to start ANYTHING should read it. One of the few books I've purchased and not a single ounce of regret in that.

I'm nearing the end of my own version of the GH challenge, which are books that Eric Whitman recommends in Ca$hvertising that are also in the GH challenge.
Ca$hvertising is essentially a condensation of all the best material in the GH challenge but also more current since it addresses internet copy as well.

From my experience I can say that If you're strapped for time then you can get by with just Ca$hvertising. But if you want to be a copy pro, do the GH challenge or something similar.

I have Ca$hvertising. Have had it for years but never completely finished it.
I think I spend too much time waiting until I have to write copy to pick it up.
Going to finish it now and prep for the Gary Halbert challenge in April or May.

I started with Ca$hvertising for a general knowledge of writing copy, now I'm starting the GH challenge. I feel like I know enough from Ca$hvertising to write poor to average copy, but I can take action before taking several months to master it.

I started with Cashvertising and since purchased 5 other books on the subject.

I will say that the one MAJOR thing Cashvertising has going for it, is that it's an excellent "quick reference" book. Reading the others gave me more knowledge and in-depth theories and examples, but I find that if I'm actually sitting down and writing, I like to have Cashvertising next to me to flip through quickly for reminders, inspiration, etc...

What are the other 5 books you read?

My Life in Advertising / Scientific Advertising (2 books in 1)
Tested Advertising Methods
How to Write a Good Adveritisement
The Robert Collier Letter book
Words that Sell (just a reference book full of persuading words, not really a book to be read)

I actually really want to get my hands on "Breakthrough Advertising" but the bastard is out of print and when it shows up it's always like $200. I'll pick it up eventually though.

EXCELLENT share! Thanks a ton, rep transferred.

This headline is the bridge between vour prospect and your
product. It touches your prospect at the point of awareness that
he has arrived at today. If he is aware of vour product, and realizes
that it can satisfy his desire, vour headline starts with vour
product. If he is not aware of your product, but only of the desire
itself, your headline starts with the desire. And, if he is not
yet aware of what he really seeks, but is concerned only with a
general problem, your headline starts with that problem and crystallizes
it into a specific need.

Well, that night I think I was trying to come up with a way to make small kitchen appliances fly off the shelves. Ever since finding the forum and reading MJ's book, I have been probably spending too much time thinking of what I might possibly be able to do in the way of starting something. Also, I just had a baby 9 weeks ago and the lack of sleep combined with all the books I have been reading definitely makes for some weird dreams!

Just adding my 2 cents on this book, but it's an essential one for anybody doing advertising - especially on the web.

The concept of Life-Force 8 and the specific pitfalls to avoid will make you a better advertiser than 95% of people who are trying to do advertising.

I see people making mistakes the books advises against ALL THE TIME. People just won't listen I guess, but this book is a must-have.

I cannot seem open this file on safari or chrome; I have a macbook pro btw. How are you able to open this file? I've seen this link several times when I'm searching for Breakthrough Advertising on pdf since its just to expensive for me to buy at moment. Would love to get my hands on it though in the future.

I see what you did there and I like it.

Bought the book yesterday among others based on this thread, looking forward to great content.
Rarely ever did I see a book with straight 5-star rating on Amazon, makes me excited.

I bought and read this book recently and highly recommend it.

One observation - the saying 'never judge a book by it's cover' applies here for me. The cover of this book really put me off - the artwork, layout, colours and typography remind me of a spam email or website! I don't think I'd have bought it if it wasn't for the glowing recommendations I'd been reading.

The same is true of 'Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion', which is also a fantastic book.

It makes me wonder, is this design style tried and tested and I'm just not the core target audience? Or, if they used a different cover would it have more broad appeal and sell more? The subject matter of these books makes me think it's the first option!

@ JokerCrazyBeatz: Then you might also like The Boron Letters.
It's a "series of letters written by copywriting legend Gary C. Halbert explaining the secrets to effect marketing."

Also purchased that one yesterday based on raving feedback here on the forum.

Okay now I feel (just a tad) bad for buying the book, I wasn't aware this exists!
Huge thanks & Rep+ for providing the link --> insta-bookmarked even though I own the book now.
