Greetings to the Top Guns and Young Guns of the Fastlane Forum!

I am doing a 90 days hard challenge which basically means...

NO..
  • Social Media
  • Junk Foods
  • Couch
  • Pleasure eating
  • TV
  • Action Faking

I am challenging myself to stop the action faking since it's tiring and the time wasted can't be taken back.

I was looking at the forum threads of accountability thread and I found @heavy_industry's thread and it inspire me to do the same.

Now I am at day 11 and I fall to short at day 10-11 at social media, junk foods, TV, pleasure eating and action faking which I think If I make a big decision I will not make the right decision since my Ventral Lateral Prefrontal Cortex is fried.

I can't whine now about my ignorance of the risks of mindless consuming of info and junk food since it was ignorant choices. Now it's time to make my life better 1% everyday by commiting to not fall short on the challenge I'd set myself. Even though it's hard, I will persist on staying the course no matter how hard it is and trust me it gets harder and harder everyday especially when you're addicted to all those things you've deprive yourself.

    But as @heavy_industry said
"It's hard to do all those things for a month, but the alternative is worst. Depression is a special kind of hell that I am not going back to."

Time to concentrate on gaining clarity and to live a meaningful life. I encourage all of you who are tired of action faking to stop doing all mindless consuming and start build yourself by taking care of yourself.

Let's begin!

  • morning jog
  • eating healthy foods
  • 1 gallon of water
  • contemplation/meditation
  • study for military admission test
  • Rosary with my father
  • Read the Bible

If you're reading this I encourage you to start now.

What happens after the 90 days? You'll start eating junk food and scroll on social media again?
also curious. I believe if you'll actually be honest with yourself and avoid all this crap it will become your habit, so i dont think 90 days is what you should aim for. Setting goals and deadlines is really helpful when it comes to mindset, but it's basically like smokers, you don't quit smoking for a week or two. Your primary goal is forever, so i suggest you to do the same.

After 90 days of this strict regiment he will have conquered the vices and bad habits which he has identified replacing them with his new productive habits.

Think of it like a 90 day strict diet where you commit to not break the diet under any circumstance. Once its completed you can now have a slice of cake if its a special occasion but you maintain your lean body with the habits you have formed.

This is awesome!
I'm glad that you've found that thread useful.

Here is what I've learned since then, it's been almost a year:

The modern diet and way of living is a sure-fire way to fail at everything in life. It's remarkable that it actually has a 100% success rate, meaning that if you do what everyone else is doing, you are almost guaranteed to fail.

It's highly likely that you've developed at least 5 destructive habits by now (behavioral, psychological, or both).

The most effective antidote to getting out of this state is to create a vision for your future self, and pursue what you find to be meaningful. Make your life so interesting, that watching youtube or playing videogames becomes boring and dull by comparison.

We are not stupid creatures.
We will always go for the highest reward that requires the minimum amount of effort. Always.

This can have disastrous consequences, or can be the fastlane to success, depending on what you do with this basic fact of human neurology.

Make your business, education, and athletic pursuits the most important things in your life. They should be shinning brighter than the sun. You will naturally gravitate towards them, and you will start seeing your current "fun" habits as the bullshit obstacles that they really are.

Focus heavily on the training and diet, because those will accelerate the progress and will turn your brain into a tank that crushes everything in its path to reach all of your goals.

Do not get discouraged if and when you relapse.

Progress WILL NOT be linear.

When you fall down, you get back up and you continue on the path.

Good luck.

after 90 days I will still continue the positive habits because it's silly to let yourself backslide after all the hardship you've taken. And i'm preparing for the upcoming admission test on Philippine Military Academy.

Here is what happened today
It feels good to be a morning person again! (although I woke up at 7 am) I did my workout this morning at local sportshub and its stabilize my mood until evening. I did my studying for admission test and things didn't go according to the plan... I get distracted by the flow of my daily life. As I can't get back to studying, I read the topic "Momentum Paralysis" on UNSCRIPTED book and I think I am struggling a momentum paralysis. As @MJ said, "Our past decisions have deeply etched emotional attachment. And the greater those attachments, the harder abandonment becomes" and I agree with @MJ's statement. But I will not let "Momentum Paralysis" reign over my life. As I do my studying, perfectionism arise in my mind and I realize that there is no shortcut. I get my book of Can't hurt me by David Goggins and head straight to chapter 8 titled "talent not required" and made peace with myself that there is no shortcut and it's okay to start at the bottom. By turning resistance into acceptance, I expect that the friction will be lessen and moving forward despite the setbacks will be the new normal.

Bible verse for today

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

This is the beginning of a long game plan brother.
You can do the healthy habits, read books and the mindset stuff but it doesn't move the needle entrepreneurship wise. Finish Unscripted and jump in the pool. Right now it just seems like you're avoiding the business part.
Don't take this to heart, I used to waste too much time like that and I posted this in good faith.

It's sabbath day so I rest the whole day and contemplate on my former choices.
I read some verses in apocrypha and found some instructions that correlates to unscripted framework.

I give time to my parents since it's Mother's day and we went outside to celebrate it. I know process is a repeated action taking and I did review a piece of info for my admission test just not to break the consistency. It's a tiring day but atleast I served my parents.

I'll bounce back tomorrow.

I failed to abstain from pleasure eating and junk foods. I failed to resist the temptation and the gravitational pull of externalities at the office of my dad. I am currently helping him to go from point A to point B since he's a PWD and can't drive. I know my choices is not alligned to my goal and it's thwarting the process. The environment of the office of an engineer is so messy, things are scattered, foods are processed and lots of sachet coffee that contains 19 grams of sugar. No wonder why they are susceptible to the gravitional pull of mediocrity. Consume shit, feel shit. I am here again helping him to go point A to point B but now I have the knowledge how to evade the threats and resist the downward pull of disease.

Did fall to eating crinkle and cup cakes. My mind is troubled because of breaking my commitment for not following the plan I've made. And things are not taking into account the last two days. And I didn't read the Bible the last two days and I think it's a big factor for my mental health. Inch by inch, I will get back to the baseline. If you're reading this, hold me accountable. Just say what am I missing and what mistake/s am I doing non stop.

I am still working for my dad as a driver and things are thwarting the process... man I failed again to resist the temptation to eat junk foods. I ate pizza, ice cream, tamarind candy, drink milk tea and said to myself this will be the last one and will go cold turkey in this shit by preparing my food before we go to my dad's project. The domino effect is real... it's easy to go downhill and hard to go uphill.

Change the language of this .....

do a positivity 21 days ...... praise all the things you DID get done each day for 21 days .... forget the things you didn't. commit to not missing two days in a row on those.......

one mistake failure for those with no prior success leads to failure
change your approach and mindset ... lean INTO your weakness and build strength!

You got this!

Realize that, even if you set yourself that goal of Hard Challenge, there will be times when the going gets tough (hence the name! )

Do not get discouraged if and when you relapse.

Progress WILL NOT be linear.

Remember this ^^^.

Whenever I set myself on difficult goals or challenges, I used to beat myself up for relapsing just a single day out of a 100.

Become grateful for those 99 days, learn from them. Think of goals as circular, since even if you relapse, you have previous knowledge and experience to fall back on, to push you back up on your feet.

Good Luck!

Let's begin!
I like the enthusiasm and your hunger for a better change but I would suggest changing your identity, these attempts that have deadlines or due dates attached to them are futile and superficial, in order to achieve real change you've got to begin with your fundamental beliefs about who you are and your definiteness of purpose, and then carve an identity of who you want to be. In my opinion succesfull people don't indulge in these sort of "challenges" because they have built an identity who upkeep healthy habits in pursuit of a bigger and meaningful goal, which also means that it never has an ending date or lasts for X amounts of days. I wish you the best of luck man!
