Today begins a series on mindset. I am making it my goal to build in myself and others a bulletproof mindset to entrepreneurially dominate 2022 and beyond. A recentering on what matters and a rejection of what doesn't.

The clown world we live in has become a common discussion. Most would find it interesting that what we call problems would be laughable to the people of the not so distant past. With that, I tell you to shrug. Don't become a naturalized citizen of clown world, just visit for your own amusement and gain.

While the clowns of the clown world are worried about the "next thing" we concern ourselves with WHAT WE CAN INFLUENCE.

I plan to unpack this hardened mindset over the next several episodes!

Damn brother, I think back to our conversation 2 years ago and how cringe I know I sounded. More to the point though when you were talking about genius in this episode it made me think of the acquired genius you now have in this show. 2 years is not a long time frame, but in 2 years you went from admittedly figuring this shit out to now sounding like somebody who has been podcasting/interviewing for a decade.

I’d love for you to expound in the mindset series about the shifts you noticed in yourself from “beginner” to “seasoned” entrepreneur through your beliefs and also your incremental actions throughout the years.

"We should do this." "They should do that." "Our problems as a..."

These are the cries of a "person of concern." They fall for "the thing." They think arguing with people is important. They wait for the world to shake out in their favor. Their control over their life is limited by the very small amount of time they spend actually controlling and influencing it. They are a product of their concern. I would even go so far to say their concern is their identity. Concern doesn't build businesses.

What does?

Lol you didn’t sound cringe! It was a good episode and I think we were both generally right about the stuff we “predicted.”

I think your suggestion is dead on and important. I’ll address it and tag this post when I do!

Thanks for your encouragement on the professionalism! I like to say it’s a only a small podcast for now. It’s built like the absolute best.

Loving the mindset series! Keep it coming. The comparison between our lives now vs 100-200 years ago is something everyone needs to take note of. Our lives are so good now that we have to invent problems to be concerned with.

Just like you, every single great entrepreneur started as an infant, at one point, the most impressive thing they ever did was simply rolling over. Is building a great business for "other people?" If you think so... Who are these "other people" and what qualified them to be as great as they are? Their choices and confidence. Qualify yourself.

Well done, Kyle. Very much enjoyed this episode. It's moments when you get vulnerable and tell the world that even with your level of confidence, it's not all sunshine and roses. We all face challenges, all of us have different paths. It makes a difference listening to a show that is real, as opposed just hearing a "guru" pump you up right before a failure. Your story about being short 1 vote... that's gold. It's an experience and part of growth.

The world isn't fair. Our success is not all hard work, and not all luck - it's both! You need to be good to be lucky and lucky to be good. We should continue to take advantage of what's been given to us. But it doesn't guarantee success, because well... sometimes we miss 1 vote. And that's OK.

Bulletproof mindset 4!

Think about your absolute favorite entrepreneur... Now, you need to understand that despite their current success, they are also a failure. I am of the belief that people are successful proportional to how well they deal with failure.

In this episode are several examples of VERY high profile entrepreneurs that obviously achieved great success, but most people don't focus on what it took to get there. The world unfortunately prefers to consider their successes luck.

Welcome to the 5th and final episode of the bulletproof mindset series. I wrap it up with a discussion on why... What makes your work matter to you? We want to establish a solid foundation for doing what we do. The tough times are not going to be smoothed over by a distant promise of a lambo or yacht.

Think bigger... Of course, but this isn't just futility. Build an actual reason to believe bigger.

Finally, out work the competition, not as an individual, but as an organization. Lead bigger.

Follow up to my interview with @Kak :

Today I drove about an hour to meet with the VP and manager of a popular sporting goods store. I showed him my product and explained the benefits to his customers and why it serves a need that other products don’t fill.

He wanted one!! He said it was exactly what he needed for his boat and for his home because he lives on the coast! He took one to put on display in the store for now to collect feedback until he sends it to the headquarters of the sporting good chain.

He warned me that I should be ready to meet orders.

Wow.

All this from sending messages on LinkedIn.

Kyle’s advice is right!! Just don’t stop calling, emailing, messaging, and networking.
Curious how these talks progressed.

Mind sharing any updates, if any.

They were very impressed with the product and put me in touch with their headquarters.

Unfortunately, I have been in limbo waiting on my supplier to manufacture and ship samples from overseas. Taking a long time.

I should have them Monday, at which point I will finally send them to the headquarters! Exciting!

I need to have you back on the show about all this. I’m sure you’ve learned a lot even though you’re currently waiting on some stuff.

I’m game. Was hoping to have more to report, just been far more waiting than I anticipated.

Best episode of 2022 in my opinion.
Two reasons:
1. You are giving your listeners an exercise to do to help them with their business. It’s no longer just theory.
2. Your airplane analogy is amazing. I used to tell my lenders when we just launched: “think of us as airplane with open gates, all lenders can just board. But once we take off and are cruising in the air, whoever is not on… it’s hard to get you on!” I love analogies as they bring additional meaning and deeper understanding of a topic.

Keep up the good work!

Pre-starting inaction goes on trial today. I was trying to think of a great transition out of the bulletproof mindset series and starting always seems to be the most asked question. I dive right into it. Starting something new isn’t just a new business, but may also be a new opportunity in an existing business.

I set out to answer these important questions:

Why does starting matter?
What pitfalls do people fall into?
What is an illegitimate reason for not starting?
What is a legitimate reason for not starting?
What would I do if I sold my companies and wanted to "start" something?
What would I do if I had nothing?

Included are more aviation geek metaphors, a discussion on Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, an example of a really stupid written business plan, a Henry Ford quote and finally a random tip about public speaking. Not in this order.

It was time to write more compelling descriptions of each episode.

For the record, every episode is this compelling. At least in my super supreme expert opinion.

TLDL: @Kak says to go to the library.

The part about the extreme weight of safety in people's decision matrix is really relevant to today.

Great episode!

This is 42 minutes that might legitimately improve your business forever. You might grow faster. You might land a massive client. You might manage your time better. You will even likely save some money…

ALL BECAUSE OF SYSTEMS. These are some of the things that I LOVE and why they are so awesome for entrepreneurs. Most of them are even FREE.

@LightHouse you and GSD got a shoutout brother!

In today's episode, I briefly go over the farcical inflation reduction act for those of you who wonder if it will, in fact, reduce inflation. The same politicians who authored it have ironically almost admitted it won't and openly made it about "climate change" without changing the name.

Then I move on to a very important topic. A term coined by MJ DeMarco... The "me-bias." A toxic mindset that we can all fall into. What does it mean? Do you operate with one? Can you recognize it? Can you tamp it back and instead operate with a contribution mindset? Ironically, you operate with a contribution mindset to a larger personal benefit anyway.

Next time Republicans hold a majority they should write the "Save the Puppies" Act, with nothing about puppies, and call everyone who goes against it a puppy-killer.
They could abolish the ATF and legitimately name it that.

Firearms Policy Coalition even has a shirt.
