One of my favorite quotes - "Everybody has something to say. Not everybody is worth listening to."

Here's another - "You will be the same person in 5 years as you are today except for the people you associate with and the books you read."

I hope to address the younger men of this forum. The 18 to twenty somethings.

Please note: this does not apply to all in that age group but a small segment. If this does not apply to you please disregard.

Please be mindful of who you admire, look up to, follow, associate with, work with and/or befriend.

Why am I specifically addressing young men? While it's not exclusive, it seems this demographic is the "market" that people with ill intentions target. They target them by promoting, flaunting and exuding bravdo, greed, money, cars and playboy lifestyles.

Here on the forum they may post threads of self worth or photos of checks and stacks of cash. They like to clash with the more well known respected members (bravado/hoping to demonstrate they are alpha males). Or they may actually use same respected members to unknowingly "validate" their successes and claims. They may insult and belittle others for not being as "intelligent" or "enlightened" as they are. All while building up and befriending those that seem ripe for the picking.

In the real world they do much of the same thing using their instagram, snapchat and personal blogs.

They build a cult following of young "like minded" men that want all the materials things that money can buy.

They promote mindsets of excess greed and believe the end justifies the means. They idolize and glorify people, companies and movies that should be examples of what NOT to do.

Why the warning?

Some of these type of people will use their cred and "celebrity" with these young men to convince them to do things that are frankly wrong, illegal or unethical. Or, they get them to work for them for free in hopes of bigger payouts down the line. Oddly those payouts never materialize. Or they get them to invest in "projects" like ad campaigns, websites or even businesses. Or they coerce them to pay for mentoring. Mentoring that simply falls short. Or they get them to start credit cards and lines of credit in their name and in turn, allow the "guru" to use at their discretion.

Unfortunately, I know that my warning will mostly fall on deaf ears. Most people only learn through experience in matters such as these. I can only hope someone will read this and it becomes a turning point in their mindset and cause them to dig deeper before becoming enamored with the next alpha wolf flaunting their "success".

Develop critical thinking skills.

Trust but verify. Truth always survives investigation.

It's worth repeating...
"You will be the same person in 5 years as you are today except for the people you associate with and the books you read." I'll add - "Choose better."

Totally, agree, even someone I vehemently looked up to: Tony Robbins. I even wanted to become a life coach after spending months consuming his material. He turned out to be not the person I thought he was, I'm not saying he's a bad person (who am I to judge?) but I am saying that as young people it's very easy for us to model the people we admire because we're so impressionable. That's why it's so important to never consider anyone a "guru" and to always 1. Think independently (critical thinking as OP said) and 2. Understand that there's always more to a person and you can never know their full story.

Just some lessons I've learned.

We should have an entry test on the forum. People get presented with anonymized versions of the Z********n and U********h business opportunity case studies and are only allowed access if they decline both :woot:.

Banned member Cyriex and others like @KLaw deep throat your posts with such glee that I think you have a better shot at selling a business opportunity than me.

People in your world, I think, are more likely to buy that kind of thing.

The people that message me - and deserve my attention - are sales pros with six and seven figure earning potential.

Why charge them some modest fee, when I can simply partner with them and earn much more substantial fees by cross-selling?

Thank you for posting this.

Recently I have been seriously considering working for someone for free in an hopes to get sales experience and show him that I am worth his time.

Before reaching out I will make sure I am certain this is a person that shares similar values to my own.

I appreciate it:tiphat:.

I'll leave you with this anonymous quote from a member of our brain trust "I got the full scoop on this guy in a .zip. He wouldn't be able to mop the floor of a Bank of America branch."

With that said, and with you being a fan of rap lyrics in your posts...:

Hopefully we're not going through another round.

It's going to keep happening, I think. It's not too difficult to gain influence around here if you've got a wealth of knowledge in a particular industry. This forum is mainly populated by people my age: early 20s. We are easy enough to influence and our bullshit meters aren't tuned well enough. Not to mention that a lot of what happens is behind closed doors. Some of the victims of a previous FLF scammer have never shared anything about their story on the forum.

Someone with respect on the forum doesn't need to say anything in the open forum about their business dealings while they scam some poor kid who messaged them to thank them for a post they made.

I ended up doing one of these opportunities 2 years ago. Got me out of my comfort zone, did some cool stuff, and learned a shitload.

Despite this, I would highly advise any of the younger guys to follow @AllenCrawley's advice and pick the people you look up to and hang out with very, very wisely, as the endings generally aren't pretty in the slightest.

Do yourself a serious favor and get rid of the wrong friends so you can make room for the right ones.

As noted above, there are many things that have gone on in the background of the forum/off the forum, and it'd be very wise to intensely validate xyz offer/opportunity/deal/partnership is.

My numbers dont matter here because this is your thread, but they are way higher than 60k/year, 99% passive and automated, made from a sellable asset, not a sales job, and unlike you I dont even need to scam kids on the interwebz to achieve them :).

This is the second time you try this here, but unfortunately for you, your opinion doesnt change my reality.

Thanks Allen. I would also add that looking up to the titans of industry can also be damaging to a person just getting started.

I was listening to Elon Musk's biography and it made me feel like crap. It was definitely motivating, but to sleep for 4 hours in your office and work non-stop and have a photographic memory really just isn't something that I can do.

It was really hard for me to accept that, because I've always felt like I could do anything I wanted to do. But I guess the mature part of me realized that I DON'T want to do that, even "for a few years so I can live like others dream".

So be careful of who you associate with, but also don't set unrealistic expectations for yourself based on 3 or 4 people in the last 100 years who have dominated.

You know who, is guilty of scamming people on the forums.I had believed it would have been punishable, but it seems not.I'm not even complaining for my sake, just doing so to make sure future people don't fall in the same trap.

Just a fyi:I've been speaking on behalf of someone else, even though I've dealt and have "worked" with this "who" also.

p.s. pls don't ban me

If ANYONE has ANY specific evidence of ANY forum members scamming ANY forum members or ANY forum members scamming people at all, and you have specific evidence of it, see my post above. We'll take action on credible, real evidence. We'll not take action on rumors, hearsay, second hand stories, or other non-direct communication. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire, but we're not going to start throwing stones at people unless there's a specific reason to. So, if you have a reason, and can back it up, please see above and relay it either publicly or privately, depending on the situation.
